January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

I'm so jealous of everyone planning another trip already. I think if I had a date in my head of when we would be able to go back I wouldn't be going through such terrible Disney withdrawal. :crazy2:

My dh has to work today and he asked my son last night what he would like to do when he gets home. Well of course he replies "Go back to Disney World and ride the Buzz Lightyear ride!" That's my boy!!!! :thumbsup2 I think dh was thinking something a little closer to home...and cheaper!

I'm (im)patiently waiting for my Photopass CD to arrive. I'm also ordering a mug with our pic on it. I wanted to buy one while we were there and completely forgot so I designed one with our Photopass pic on it. It's $20 which is more than I would have spent on one down there but it's so cute I can't resist! :goodvibes

I hope everyone is having a great weekend...even if we aren't in Disney anymore.:scared:

HI everyone... been crazy busy since we got back last weekend... had a wonderful time... already booked a trip for May 16-22... girls trip with my DD, my mom, my aunt, and mom's best friend... staying at POR

Quick thoughts on our trip (because I have to be at work in an hour):

Flight was delayed an hour... didn't get to resort until after 10 pm so missed the DIS meet

Hotel was nice but probably won't go there again

Didn't wait more than 15 mintues for anything... it was awesome!!!!

Had some wonderful meals... California Grill was FABULOUS!!!

Found out that my son has exceptionally good manners and his friend does not!!!!!

Overall a nice trip... the boys had a great time... looking forward to May... warm weather and high maintenance girls instead of a stinky boy!!!

I have a friend who does that - cool! She's made it her mission to visit all of the major league [and lots of minor league] ballparks in North America. She also goes to FL for spring training [not to WDW, can you believe it!].

Where are y'all going? Sounds like a blast, too.

And I love the pic on your signature.

My friend is obsessed with the Atlanta Braves. So that is our final point. We'll spend some time in South Carolina with her family, and 4 days in Atlanta, doing stuff around there. Then it's just a CRAP LOAD of baseball games all over the place, driving from WI there are a ton of choices. We'll be seeing Single-A teams through Major League...it should be a lot of fun.

She also wanted to go for spring training, and the Braves are at WDW, so I tried to make a compromise, she could do that and I'd just go to the parks.:rotfl:

And thanks for the compliment on the picture...I want spring/summer so badly...:flower3: I have "Cabin Fever" from October - April. I really need to move someplace warm...

Hi all, we're home and unpacking! Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'll have lots to read and report later!!

omg...it's 44 degrees outside right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

AND SUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:beach:

While we were there, we passed a DVC info booth and DH actually said, "I don't understand how people can come here every year." :sad2: He enjoys WDW when we go, but his view is, there are so many other fun places to visit.

My DH is the same way - his idea of Disney was at least 5 years in between. Hmmm, we went when DD was 4, 7, 11, and almost 20. Guess his math isn't up-to-snuff!:rotfl2: He did have a great time, though.

Seriously, he has always said that he would love to go out west to CA, so perhaps I can convince him to try Disneyland. I haven't been there in 40 years!

I love Niagara Falls Meghan! :goodvibes Last time we were there was the summer before last. We had a hotel room on the Canadian side that overlooked both the Canadian and the US falls. Very nice!

DH and I were just talking about a mini summer getaway and Niagara Falls was on the list of possibilities. Still not sure though, we we may end up going back to Hershey. After all it is our SECOND favorite place to go!

Okay, I'm still reading, but had to comment - we were at Niagara Falls in July 2007 and stayed at a Sheraton on the Canadian side, (My then 5 year old called it the "sheldon"). Absolutely loved it!!! Beautiful views...We didn't stay long as we were headed to Albany and then Philly, but loved it!

Welcome back! :goodvibes

I looked for you when we were at the resort on our last evening (your first) but did't see you.

I kept an eye out for you - but after we finally got our rooms at 2:45, I was hot to get to MK!! We stayed until after the parade (and meeting Meghan and Shawna), so it was later when we got back.

All in all we had a great trip!! I was so happy to meet two of you! (Twice!) I thought it was so fun to visit and see you in person!
We had almost perfect weather (we did stay at DHS in the rain for Fantasmic - crazies!) and our cruise was so much fun - very windy though, so it wasn't as hot as I'd hoped. More details later and will answer any questions. It is AWESOME!!!
We liked CBR - good room, great mousekeeper - Katrina at Barbados! and didn't like the small beds. Not too bad on the buses - we usually just missed the one we needed! LOL!
The parks were not too crowded for us. We avoid most thrill rides, so it was a little easier. Walked on quite a few rides at MK. Encountered a few tour groups, nothing too bad.
I may have to post a TR- if I can figure out how!

We were "this close" to buying into DVC on the cruise, they were offering free cruises and $800 gift cards! Maybe next time...
We have a bounceback offer for a 3 day cruise for August through Mid December 2009 for $99 per person. We are hoping to do that, can't book until April 6. I'll be on line at midnight EST! We'd like to get some WDW time in again too - hopefully for MVMCP and holiday decorations. By Thanksgiving hurricane season should be winding up right? I know the parks will be nuts though and more expensive. Maybe October? We have a statewide school break. I'm trying to avoid pulling the kids out for more than a few days. Oh, it so hard!!! I'm really psyched that I get to plan more though!
If anyone is ever planning a trip to MN (It could happen) Please let me know! I'd love to see you - we have the biggest mall!!
Okay, going to feed the kids (no idea what) and do more laundry and go to bed early tonight! I hope to read all your TRs. Can someone post a list?

Hello Snowbirds!! I haven't given up on the snowbirds :) We have all been VERY sick :crazy2: and I haven't even turned on my computer in 25 days :scared1: We are all still sick but have gotten rid of the fevers and getting sick so we feel much better :cool1:

I am feeling the post Disney depression too! I am trying to convince my DH to let me go back for my DS5 6th birthday (October) if we get a smokin' deal I think he'll let me do it! As for an entire family trip - that' won't be for a while...until our twins are old enough to really "get" it, we won't be paying for airfare for them to fly. They got to sit on our laps this time but from where we live it's about $1000-$1500 per person to fly :scared1: :scared1: This time we used airmiles but we do not have that kind of $$

Hi, all! I've missed you! I'm husbandless now for 2 weeks and trying to catch up with my online life. :rotfl2: I gotta go back and read up on all of your trips! Wish I was planning another! My older daughter woke up crying one night and said she misses Disney and wishes she could go back. pixiedust:

Hey guys!

My MIL said the funniest thing this morning. She asked if I was serious about running in the Disney 1/2 marathon. When I told her yes, she said that they were going to be renting some property down their for the whole month of January and we should just stay there with them . . .

Bwaaahaaaa!!!!!! Like I'm going to miss a single opportunity to stay on Disney property. Now I can officially say that she's lost her marbles. Besides, on race day I'm going to have to be up super-duper early to get where I need to be.

I got a text message from a friend who is at Disney right now. She said that they've all been sick with the stomach bug. She said it last two days for most of them. I feel so bad for everyone who's had to deal with it. Not a fun way to spend your vacation.

Mine barley gets turned off!:rotfl2:
I know some of you are race fans, Dh is upset, and Jimmy looked so HOT tonight!
I posted my first day photopass pics on my trip report. I am separating my photo share pictures. For those who are worried about them now doing it by dates and not upload date, don’t worry it is not that bad to sort through them. :wave2: Kate I love your pic with Dark Vader. Where did you get that taken? I am so jealous!:thumbsup2

I was SO happy that we got to meet (twice!). I got a pin code the other day and am desperately trying to convince my DH that we need to go back!!! I'm going through withdrawal.

Yuck! I was scared while we were down there. We washed hands at every opportunity and wiped them with Wet Ones when we weren't near a sink. I woke up one night puking and thought "here we go, two days left on our trip and I'm going to spend them sick!" Turns out it was just Mexico! We ate there at Epcot and the nachos didn't agree with me. Whew...was I relieved. I feel so bad for those who got the real thing and missed out on their time at Disney.

Oh poor thing. My son asks every day when we are going again. I don't have the heart to tell him it's going to be a year or more than likely two.:scared: Is it pathetic that I tear up every time he asks? I wish I could just throw us on a plane (not driving again!:rotfl2: ) and go back.
