January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

How can you even think about taxes when you're planning for vaca??? I've got way too much on mind! Plus, we don't have any w2's back or the statements (are they 1099's?) for our mortgage interest, etc...I plan on doing mine next month. Since I work for the state  I get two holidays off in February (Pres Day and Lincoln's bday) :cheer2: so that's usually when I do ours, when I have the house to myself and it's quiet and I can throw papers all over the place! I usually use Turbo Tax since we both have side businesses (I sell real estate and he's a personal traininer) so we get lots of deductions. (By looking at that, it sounds like we should both be rich and thin and in great shape...HAHAHAHA Dare to Dream...) :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I actually don't mind doing it. I like working with numbers, I worked in banking for 12 years. I use Turbo Tax too. We only have one W-2 and DH got it yesterday. I got all the 1099's online for the mortgage interest and other stuff.

Now I can relax knowing it's done!! :thumbsup2

Do you get MLK day off as well since you work for the State?
My DH and I both work for State of WI and we're off, but have to work all days in February:guilty: .

Monday will be a quiet day for me to do last minute checking/packing after the trip to the Dentist. I know I have a cavity, but I really don't want it filled right away and have a sore mouth for Disney:sad2:

Boy, I love these new little smiles...aren't some of them cute?:mic: :crowded: :hyper: :scratchin :p :joker: :moped: :badpc:

Kayte,
:wave2: Welcome back to the frigid cold and blowing snows of Wisconsin. Can't wait to hear about the sunshine and fun you and your family had in WDW!

Welcome back Kayte!! Hope you had a great time and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it! Stay warm!!

Hi Katye, Welcome back!
Hi snow birds! Hope everyone is happy planning. I have bee MIA. I got jury duty for the first time ever and was placed on the jury. Sorry your picture of the castle was removed. DH delte all the pictures I uploaded to edit them for me. That one of course did not need editing. I will put it back up here for everyone!

Oooh, very smart getting the 1099's online! What a relief that they're done and you're getting a return!! Makes spending money at Disney a little less guilt-inducing! I'm banking on a good return to pay off this trip! We usually go in May and use the tax money for that, but this year we just couldn't wait, and the deals are too good to pass up! And that it's less crowded and hubby's bday...(yes, I'm trying to justify charging a whole trip!!) :crazy2:

Yep, I'm off Monday :cheer2: and we get two in Feb., then none until May when we get another two (Truman's Bday and Memorial Day). I love the "made up state holidays" as my SIL calls them...everyone else is at work/school and I get the day to myself! I think we get a total of 12 holidays, then they always add the day after Thanksgiving at the last minute, and this year we also got the day after Christmas since it was a Friday. I guess all those extra days off make up for the crappy pay we get! ::yes::

Ok, hopefully this warms all you snowbirds up today!
I know it is going to be cold here for the next couple of days here in Pa.
Oh PEANUT HOW ABOUT OUR EAGLES? :thumbsup2
I am really looking forward to the game Sunday.

We usually go in May too. That was another reason to get the taxes done, we use part of our return to pay for vacation! I feel better knowing that it is on it's way! :goodvibes

Good afternoon everyone. Hope all are warm and well.
I'm just finishing up with laundry and now getting myself ready for the day. I have to work tonight at 5 and I should have a "slow" week of work, so I might actually be able to do a full-blown Trip Report (:cool1: ).

Here's a peak. This picture was taken on Jan. 7 at about 5pm.

pamouselover: I love the pictures of the castle from that angle! It makes it seem more "majestic" to me.

HEY SNOW BIRD FRIENDS! :)

I just wanted to pop in quickly and say bye for now! We are furiously packing away and getting everything ready for our departure tomorrow! :cool1: What a long list of us heading down this week! I will be on the lookout for as many of you as I can! :wave2: I wish everybody a safe, warm and wonderful vacation! Thanks for all the great times! I will definitely be checking in when we get home! My DH and I are already planning out our "HE SAID, SHE SAID" TR! Should be a hoot! :lmao:

GOOD TIMES EVERYBODY GOOD TIMES!

ps, I have a red mickey wallet lanyard with my LGMH's on it! If you see me stop and say hi!

Shelly - I hope to see you and your crew at Chef Micjey's on Tuesday! We will be there at 5pm!

Sharadoc - See you at Sleepy Hollow @ 2pm on Tuesday!

Meghan & Kim - see you at CP on the 28th! Let's try to meet up for a group photo if we can!

Take care all! :thumbsup2

crzyred - That's a beautiful picture! I hope to get some good ones this trip.

I don't think we're going to get much back from taxes this year, but who knows? I had them take extra from my checks, so we shouldn't have to pay! We were pretty close last year. At least most of the trip is paid for, the bulk was on the 0% deal on DIsney Visa and is getting mostly paid off before we even leave (thank goodness!) I'll be adding more to it on the trip!! LOL

We are hoping for a return trip in 2009. Mostly because we are eligible to take a three day cruise between Aug and Dec for $99 per person. It's an offer I can't refuse!! We are hoping to go around Thanksgiving - toward the end of hurricane season! So we'll just have to swing by WDW!! It will be expensive to fly and stay at WDW though. We might be able to get the military ticket deal with my MIL and who knows where we'll stay. I really want to see it decorated for Christmas. I don't care if I just spend a half day at each park.

Hi everyone ! Well it looks like we may make our special 38th wedding Anniversary WDW trip after all, which was planned 6 months ago... :upsidedow We have reservations at the POR January 22nd-29th ! We had a fire in our home last week :firefight , had to relocate and rent a house before ours can get repaired. Our kitty is in the vet hospital with a urinary blockage and they think it was due to stress from all of the scary stuff related to the fire that happened to him ! He is doing fine ! We decided to go head and get away from it all for a week of R and R. WDW is a great place to do that !! pixiedust: When we get home we both will be rested, have cleared our heads and will begin the rebuilding of our home. Thanks for all of your info over the past few months which has helped us plan our trip !!!
Jimmy and Allie :cool1: :flower3:

I wish your family a good and magical Disney vacation.pixiedust: You had the worst kind of excitement. I hope that all goes well when you come back and you are able to rebuild your home quickly.:flower3:

Crowds sat & sun kinda busy for Jan but it was a weekend. Mon- Wed awesome no waits multiple rides great times. Thu insanely crowded for Jan. We ended up only doing a few rides & leaving early. But it turned out to be a good thing. Drive back frigid & roads closed due to black ice!!
