January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Hi Everyone - just had to share. Got this done over at the DISigns board. I'm going to put this on the back of everyone's character sweatshirts and maybe a shirt or two. It's awesome and really feels like us!

Got this done on the DIS board for us. I'm putting it on the back of our character sweatshirts, and maybe a T-shirt too. I think it's awesome!!! Now I have to buy the iron-on stuff and make them. AAACK.

How adorable! It's really personalized too! I love the "It's my birthday shirt and the autism ribbon...Aren't those DISigners wonderful:love:

yes you heard me right 5 hours!!! Chuck decided at 530am that we should take the day off fri & drive out tonight. There is a wicked ice/snowstorm headed our way & he wants us to be ahead of it as it moves east. So we are starting our drive tonight. We can't get a room on grounds for fri so we will stay offsite but now we will have all day Sat at the parks !!!:worship:

Good luck to all the marathon runners this weekend!! :cheer2:

My DH says thanks! He's SO PSYCHED! Keep your fingers crossed for a sub-3:15 marathon for him. And if you're really really really stoked (and a really really really early riser), PM me and you can follow his running via email or texts from Disney!

Looks great. We did my DD's 3rd b-day at Akershaus and ordered a cake. They gave her a b-day card that the server signed in Norwegian and all the princesses signed! So cool. Even if you don't order a cake, make sure they know ahead of time it's her b-day!

Thanks all I am now off line to go wash my floors here at the shop do my dishes and head for home!! Have a meeting at 5 & leaving after that. Will post when we get back. Have a wonderful week snowbirds!!

Hi Snowbirds!

We just got back yesterday!

We had an amazing time. For Disney newbies I think we did okay and made the most of our short time there.

The weather was perfect while we were there. The crowds were a bit more than I expected but after talking to my sister who went over spring break I'm thinking maybe they weren't as bad as I thought at the time.

Here's our trip blog if anyone is interested. I haven't written the last day yet. We went to the Magic Kingdom for a breakfast at the Crystal Palace. It was wonderful! Then we went on Buzz Lightyear because the girls hadn't gone on it and I thought they'd enjoy it. We did a couple of bonus rides and then headed out and got sidetracked by a spontaneous street performance by the opening ceremony dancers.

I think the thing I loved about Disney the most was Main Street and how special it felt with the castle looming and the way the cast members tried to make every family feel important and special.

We can't wait to go back! We certainly left enough undone that we'd feel like everything was new and different again.

This board and the guide book were so vital to us having a good time. We had so much fun at the character dinners and I didn't feel like we had to meet all the characters in the park and stand in lines if we didn't want to. There were so many people who were turned away from restaurants because they didn't have reservations. Also, just knowing about the different rides and attractions, and how fast pass worked was great. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't perfect, and we were on a steep learning curve, but I think it still made a huge difference.

Anyways, here's the blog:

Awesome! I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time. This will be my 8th trip and there are things I still haven't done! I can't wait to experience a lot of new things on this trip!

That is so cute! What an amazing job! I sure do love those DISigners! On my PTR, I posted a link to the boarding passes someone did for me. They're amazing!!!!

I'm like bouncing off the walls right now. I got the mail right before I went to pick up my DD from school. I got her "Guide to the Magic" book!!!!! I ordered it on Monday night and got it today!!!:yay:  I'm beyond excited!!!! I came up with an even better way to surprise her. I'm going to post it to my PTR if anyone's interested!!! I think my DH and I are going to flip through it a bit more later. It looks awesome and I wish I had one when I was little!

To everyone leaving today and tomorrow, have a wonderful time and safe travels. I'm excited for everyone! Good luck to those of you running or supporting runners in the marathon! Have a magical time!

Travel Channel is doing a few hours of Disney from right now (started a half hour ago) until 6pm central :goodvibes

It sure helps that they are willing to add new rides and attractions every year or so! There's always something new! Sometimes I've missed something due to it being closed when I ws there, so the next time I go it's new to me! That's what I tell all those crazy people who don't understand why I keep going back. A) It's WAY FUN! B) it can be different everytime (especially when you bring newbies) and C) what's the difference between those people who go to their cabin/lake place every weekend all summer long and me going to WDW every year or two? At least I don't have to clean/cook/mow lawn/fix stuff!

Just got my paperwork today (we check-in on Jan. 31 but it had to be forwarded to me from my TA). Everything looks great except for one thing...
The voucher that you get for the free 5x7 photopass photo has an expiration date of Jan. 31 2009 -- the day we arrive!

Can someone else who has received this voucher verify for me everybody's expires on the day they arrive (or specifically on Jan. 31) or if this is something I need to get corrected???

I just watched the Behind The Scenes show with my little sister like an hour or so ago! She wanted to see the Yeti since she had her eyes closed when she rode EE!

Exactly! I have friends who go to the cottages a few times throughout the summer every single year. WDW is WAY more fun than that!

All of my vouchers have the expiration date the date of our check in too. I was going to call, but I think I'll just question it at check in. It's probably okay.

WELCOME to the Snowbirds!

Thanks! I don't know why I haven't thought to come over here before now! Since I'm borderline *obsessive* about Disney trip planning (as my DH can attest), I've hit refresh so many times on the other boards (Resorts, Restaurants, Themeparks, etc) that it seems so nice to have a new thread to check on constantly! :surfweb: ;)

WOW!! I just got finished with my kids computer math!! That definitely took a while!!!! So, now I only have spelling with my younger son. But, he's a speller by heart, so that won't take long!!! Thank goodness!! I know they are probably wondering why I am pushing them so hard this week to get on track and stay there!! I can't let them get behind--I have certain things they have to have finished by the 23rd!!!! Hopefully they will finish early on the 22nd and then we will tell them after school that day!!!!! Fridays are usually testing days for spelling and math--if we finish on Thursday, we have less on Friday and I can spill the beans earlier!!! So, I only have 11 school days left.
Mike has a house that's almost finished---we are hoping they can do the closing by the 23rd---the couple is VERY anxious and excited about getting in their home. I sure would hate for them to wait a whole week while we are gone!!!!! But---we'll see what we can do!!!!
~ oh--when my computer crashed, we lost my Master Packing List:scared1: I reallllllly need that, so I will spend this evening trying to remember everything I had on there!!:sad2:
