January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Hooray for all of you Snowbirds who are booking new trips!! I have to admit, I'm a little jealous LOL

I just wanted to pop in and say Hi and update you on our little Turkey. So far, so good. I've been terribly sick this past week, but I've also had some minor spotting. We are having an ultrasound tomorrow morning at 8 am. I'm hoping to see the precious little flicker of a heart beat. I'll come back and update you afterwards. I've already told DH that if this pregnancy, heaven forbid, doesn't turn out as it should, i'm going to head straight to the TA and book our room only reservations.

I'm honestly not seeing Disney in our future in January, though ;)

I haven't been keeping up lately, so this is news to me!! congrats!!!!!! Maybe you will just get some bed-rest. That always works wonders!!! I will be praying for you today--keep us posted!!!!!

Hi all!!!! Well, we are sooooo busy right now with our kiddo's activities! But, we are down to about 4 1/2 weeks of school. Yippee!!!!! I would love to go back in April--but I don't know. I need to pull up some prices!! The boys have a week off of baseball the last week that month because the ps kids have some testing that they want them rested up for. Since our days are limited tho', it might be a good time to go on a short trip somewhere else. I don't know, but I feel a planning strategy comin' on!!!! I really try to take us different places, but we ALWAYS end up in Disney World! Ha!!! Have a great week ya'll!!!

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Woke up to snow here this morning. :sad2: Probably less than an inch, but still!

We have been talking about next years trip a lot lately. We are looking at either January 23-31 or January 30-February 7. . . . Any thoughts or opinions???

Hope all is well with everyone!

Good morning everyone. Hope all is well. I'm so ready for spring it's not even funny anymore. I'm walking around in a constant "crabby" state of mind. Yesterday we got snow but luckily the sun came out in the afternoon and melted it all. I guess the good thing to consider is if more snow comes it has to be a huge amount for any of it to stay longer than a day now...:woohoo:. My countdown is also on - 10 days til the local Season Opener for baseball....:banana::banana:.

Those of you booking trips...have fun for me!

Mindy - I'm continuously praying for your health, the baby and your family.

Hope everyone has a good Monday and a wonderful week.

Hello my praying Snowbirds! I just spoke with Jenjolt and she is asking for our prayers. Her DH just had a (non-life threatening) accident. I will let her explain the details later, but right now let's all join together in prayer for Phillip.

THANKS GIRLS!!!!

Count me in. Hope he's OK! (And thanks for the Jeremiah quote, Soleil!)

Prayers are going out to Phillip and Jen, Mindy (good luck tomorrow) and all my snowbird friends.

Remmy- so nice to hear from you again!! It is hard to stay away from this thread, even when not planning another trip. Hope things get better for you DH job-wise.

Shelly - we were there from 1/26 - 2/1. Had a couple warm days and a couple rainy. Not too crowded. Is the week prior the week of MLK day? I'd avoid that weekend if possible.

crzyred - I'm having a bit of a crabby time myself lately. Not any particular reason, a little stressed about a few things. It's just that it depends on other people's cooperation to get my things done by a deadline and I wish they'd hurry up!! I spent the weekend eating candy - well it made me feel better temporarily! :) Of course, now it's Monday, and all the little things that can go wrong, are going wrong. Plus I'm stuck on a project at work - can't figure out what to do. Really can't focus. Which is why I'm DISing! ;)
And wouldn't you know it - it's going to SNOW tonight and tomorrow! Jeez, isn't winter over YET?
Okay, I'm better now. Thanks for listening. Maybe I'd better include a prayer for myself to count my blessings and quit griping!

Thanks Sheree!

Yes, the week prior would be MLK Day. Actually it would be that Monday and we would arrive on Saturday if we went with the 23rd-31st. So most of the vacation would be the following week. . . This year we were there the week of MLK Day (arrived the day after MLK Day) and the weather was great for the most part, but it was crowded. So I was hoping the week after would be less crowded. But then wondered if I should wait another week and go Jan 30th-Feb 7th. . . :confused3

We hardly had any lines for the stuff we wanted to do. We don't do thrill rides/roller coasters though. We got all the ADRs we wanted too. I'm sure the weather is hit or miss, but I remember going in 2004 the first week or two of Feb and it was not crowded at all! It's a nice way to break up winter too. Of course, now this year I should have gone again in March since winter won't end!

Thank you for your prayers guys...we have returned home! Here's an update on what happened.

Well so much for uneventful...about 9am this morning I got an email from my hubby saying that the roof in his room was on fire and that he was evacuating his classroom. I didn't worry too much because he didn't have children in the room and I knew he was getting out. I even joked with LL about it. However shortly there after my assistant principal came into my room and asked to speak to me in the hallway. He informed me that there had been an accident at Phillip's school and they were taking him to the ER. Apparently when he went to turn the lights on in his room a ballast in the lights exploded and caused a release of some toxic gases in the room (he thought was smoke) and it triggered an asthma attack and shortly after that it the gased triggered a reaction that started to burn his eyes and nose pretty badly. He immediately rinsed them and went to the clinic where they rinsed his eyes with saline, however the school insisted he be checked thoroughly and the next thing I know I'm being told he is on his way to the hospital in an ambulance and he has the car and I have no way to get there. Thankfully my assistant principal dropped everything he was doing and took me to our car and then I was able to meet up with Phillip and the ER. I had called my Pastor and he was already there and had called to tell me Phillip was fine and to drive safely. After about 4 hours and a couple of procedures that make chinese water torture look humane we are home and are resting. I'm exhausted and just plain tired. I'm going to call it an early night and be glad that I only have to make it through 4 more days until Spring Break even if it means my inlaws will be here LOL!

How freaky!! Glad all is well now (and you cracked me up about the Chinese Water torture)!!

On another note, I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW NEXT WEEK!! I'd applied for this job over a month ago and never hear anything, so I figured, Oh well...well today hubby met me at the car when I pulled up and said I had a letter from the State. I assumed it was my "Thanks for your app, but we don't want you" letter. Well it was thick when I got it, and when I opened it, it said my interview was scheduled for MONDAY!! YIPPEE!!! I'm excited because I've been in my current position for over 11 yrs since graduating from college. I am SO ready for a change. This position wouldn't be any change really as far as salary or benefits, but it would be a little closer and something completely different than what I'm doing! Send me some positive vibes!!!

Oh Jen, I hope everything is ok!

We are going to be going on a cruise in the summer, and I was wondering where do I start a TR for a non disney trip on the boards? Though it would be nice if everyone does on if you are going somewhere this summer.
Or maybe we could keep them going here :lmao:
You know it will be Jan again before we know it. Someone from NC yesterday said to me something funny. He said "It is what, warm a month out of year here in Pa."

Hello fellow Snowbirds! Wanted to say that although we don't have another trip planned, I do still come on and read about everyone's news. It's nice to see that this group is still active, even though tomorrow is April.

Been busy here in MA, and still waiting for spring, LOL! I am rehearsing for a production of Beauty and the Beast the first weekend of May (I guess that will be my "Disney Fix") and having a blast. Although the oldest :( cast member, I am keeping up with those youngsters just fine!

DD is finally coming home for her spring break on Saturday (I swear that her school is the only one in the country that doesn't take a break in March) and she is ready for some r&r at home. We will be driving her back to NY on Easter Sunday. She will be finding out shortly if she has been hired by Events Management at her school for the summer. They host conferences and hire students as staff members and can guarantee them a 35 hour work week, plus room/board. With the current state of the economy, she knows that finding a summer job here at home is almost impossible, as she found out last summer. She maybe worked 10 hours a week, tops. We will miss her, but know that it will be a great opportunity if she is selected.

My spring break is mid-April, which is always the week we used to travel to Disney when DD was in school. It was always pretty crowded, but it was like a little mini MA/RI/CT reunion, and we always ran into people we knew on the plane and in the parks.

Anyway, hoping that everyone is well and enjoy keeping up with you all!
