January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part IV !!!

We travel often with other children.... our kids always like to bring a friend along and we also have had exchange students.

First thing we always get is a notarized letter stating that we can take the child, and that we can obtain necessary medical treatment as needed. Most banks have a notary... just make sure the parent doesn't sign the letter until they are in front of the notary. Then we get the child's medical card and information including home address. Along with phone numbers for the parents (home, work and cell) and someone else in case they can't be reached. Also their doctor and dentist. It sounds like a lot of work but it all can be on one sheet of paper. It is good to keep it handy at the airport. Make sure the child has picture ID as well - they should have a school ID....

Good morning birdies.

I leave in 7 days and haven't started packing yet. My problem is that I still need to wear the clothes that I am taking along. I have my packing list made, so as I put it in I'll cross it off. I've always been a last minute packer.

Well time to get ready for work. I've got no plans for tonight. Probably making the t-shirts for our trip. I have to work until 6:30 today and then be in at 9 tomorrow morning. Oh well...it's disney money!

I'm also going to be making a few more t-shirts...I'm going to go to Hobby Lobby and hopefully find the paper for a dark shirt transfer and buy the shirts since I have gift cards. I'm going to be making two more shirts for me LOL!! One is a gorgeous haunted mansion one and another is just a fun one LOL!!!

SUDAFED. OMG SUDAFED. I have chronic sinusitis (and currently dealing with antibiotics which I can also drink on - lol, it IS almost NYE! and almost my birfday -these things are important) and I find Sudafed a TOTAL lifesaver from day to day but ESPECIALLY if I even THINK I'm congested at an airport. And not the Sudafed PE garbage, too!!

Thanks, Sarah, and everyone else! I'll hit the drugstore for some before we go! Sudafed does help my sinuses, but I have a paradoxic reaction to it - it actually keeps me up rather than making me sleepy! But I'll be on a plane to Disney, so I'll be too excited to sleep anyway!

Are you wanting one in DHS? What about SciFi or 50's Prime Time? I've never been to either, but want to - heard great things. You'll need to call soon - I hear they're pretty popular.

We've done both. I know a lot of people love 50's Prime Time, but I found that it's totally dependent on your server. We had a real dud, so it was just a meal, without any of that "fun stuff". The fried chicken was good, but DH and DD weren't thrilled with their meals (I don't remember what they ate!).

DD asked for Sci Fi, which is a lot of fun, so we're doing dinner there on the 4th so we can see the last night of the Osbourne Lights! So excited!

It's snowing to beat the band now. So my boss told me to go home and do some stuff at home - my other computer is busily processing so I can sit here and chat! And I am officially on VACATION!!!

And they've changed the weather report. Initially, they were calling for less snow today and more on Friday, which could have interfered with our Saturday flight. But now, they're saying that, since today's storm got bigger, Friday's will just be some snow showers, and shouldn't cause enough trouble to mess with Saturday's flight! YAY - this was my biggest fear! We're really going to get off the ground!

Sudafed does that to me too - I can't sleep if I take a full dose after dinner time. It hypes up kids too. I do know that it is one of the ingredients used to make meth - the drug that keeps people going for days, so it doesn't surprise me. (And I know that because I work in the criminal system)

I can feel the excitement over the net!!! I am so excited for those of you leaving this coming week!!!! Just make sure you have a good packing list and check it off as you go!!! This is what keeps me sane!

For all of you Sudafed takers----what's best? I usually take the PE in the purple box before bed, it makes me soooooo sleepy!!! But ya'll are saying not to take that one, so what should I get? My son is also getting the sinus stuff and I need to go get something for him today!!

My doctor told me to avoid the PE stuff. My friend found a study where it's effective... if injected but not effective if taken orally/digested through the stomach. So any Sudafed that's not PE. I just get the standard red stuff and take other meds (advil or tylenol or benadryl) as needed!

Are you kidding me? Sudafed wires me like... christmas lights! When I take it at bedtime (to breathe), I have to take Bendaryl (to sleep). Most of my friends are the same way. And besides, what's some chemical enhancement in energy?!

I am so sorry you didn't get it. you should try calling again, i got into chef mickeys with a party of 6 with no problem either, all i did was move things around a bit...i did cancel a lecellier on the 12th for a party of 4 at night if your interested i am sure its still there

I'm on hold right now so we'll see. Thanks to all of you who told me to call today! We have a party of 5 and that's probably part of my problem. Wish me luck...
Update...no luck says there are no openings at all for the entire day no matter what party size


Also I see some of you talking about 50s prime time and sci fi...anyone have a preference? We are scheduled for 50s but I've been thinking of trying to get sci fi instead

I've never had any problem taking regular sudafed (non PE). It doesn't keep me up or get me wired. Caffeine doesn't have an affect on me either. I could drink a 20oz pepsi and then go right to sleep! The sudafed PE does NOT work for me at all! I can't stand it!

I had the same problem and could never get into Le Cellier EVER...so I decided why not...and made an ADR for Yatchsmen, I'm very excited about that!!!

I wish you luck..keep trying you never know what might pop up or who might cancel last minute!!

I know I am a little late on this subject but my computer acted up last night and when I logged on this morning I had to check from page 208 till now. I just saw the question about disney stuff for Christmas. My sister, crafty wonderful person that she is, made our dad a t shirt and our mom a sweatshirt with the title of Grandmom's/Pop-Pop's mouseketeers on it and a mickey hat with each grandchilds name on it. They turned out awesome. If I wasn't so computer illiterate I would post a pic, but you'll have to ask her to do that. She is on this board always, I tease her about that!!!
