According to PassPorter's boards the shops generally stay open until 11pm and the restaurants usually till midnight or beyond, like House of Blues sometimes is open till 2am depending on entertainment.

Meghan I just realized we have the same name (though spelled differently), the same affinity for Tinkerbell.. and we're both Snow birds. It's like a freaky twilight zone ordeal.

That IS freaky! I meet Meghan's all the time, but with lots of creative spelling. If your middle name is Elizabeth, I'll lose it! However, most Meghan's have that middle name I've noticed.

I wish it was! Haha, no my middle name is Ann which... though I will not disclose the last name... makes my initials MAD. My mom had a field day with that one.

Before I got married, my initials spelled MEG! I loved it! My really good friend named Megan had the same initials! Well, now it's MEF. Nothing fun but I love being married!

In school, I was one of 4 Sarah's. Sarah F (that's me!), Sarah H, Sarah K, and Sarah S.

Well, that's what we were all known by. I got married, and became Sarah H. Sarah K, one of my dearest friends got married, became Sarah D, got divorced (when her not-so-DH was in a mental health care facility, he admitted he was cheating on her), and changed her name to... Sarah Kay. HA!!!

Anyway, DH and I are settled in for the night now... eating appetizers and watching videos. I will not be terribly sad to see 2008 go. There were some great parts - my trip to Alaska, my new job... and there were some really terrible parts (the day before I got my new job - my boss called me into her office and chewed me out for 2 hours simply to get me to try and then the need for surgery, which started in February and I was healed in December. TOO LONG). Here's hoping 2009 is fun!!!

2. My MIL phoned this morning to try to book the $49.00/night special offer for a room at POP. She was told that all the standard rooms are full so she could be offered the preferred for $72.00/night. She of course takes it. I don't know if it means that all the cheap rooms are now booked but I do believe that regular price for preferred are around $94.00 per night. I am a wee bit jealous that they will be staying in a room closer to everything for only $7.00 more than our AAA package price. Sorry for my green eyed monster to start showing. I am glad though since if we are planning a Grand Gathering they won't be stuck in the boonies and not like the place. We don't mind walking.

Anyway, what do you think this all means? Do you think they are going to be really crowded? Why would Disney offer this better rate for preferred rooms? Wouldn't you think that if they are all sold out that they would want people to pay full price for the preferred rooms? I am so confused by all of this.

I think it means only that they have certain rooms with certain "deals" available. I had a room-only reservation with a AAA for a preferred room at POP. I decided to get an AP, and called for an AP rate. They wouldn't apply the AP rate for the room I already had, saying that all the AP preferred rooms were sold, so I took a standard room. Since it's only one night, I didn't care, but I thought it was odd - they'd get more money from me if they kept me in the preferred room.

Happy to say that DH just got here - there are about 9 inches of snow on the ground! Luckily, our snow plow guy came and DH was able to drive in!

I'm not sorry to see 2008 go, either - with the nastiness of the election season, the stock market meltdown, the bailouts, the folks who've lost their jobs, etc. Not to mention all the personal struggles we've all had to deal with! Here's hoping that 2009 brings back optimism! As my late father used to say, "May your children have wealthy parents!"

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2009! At least we're starting it off right by going to Disney!

I did end up getting into LeCellier but I've been calling all day Not for dinner just for lunch but I'll keep calling and hoping something for dinner opens up. I didn't get it for 5 either just 4 but the CM told me to arrive early and they should accomodate me I may just have to wait a little longer.

I also did Sci Fi for lunch on 1/14. I think my kids will enjoy sitting in the car and am hoping we'll just go to DTD to Wolf Gang Puck Express for the nights meal or at least that's what I'm planning

I really wonder about the crowds too. I have read on other rumor sites that some are saying that reservations are really down and others say that they are really up . I guess we will only know when Snowbirds start reporting back. I am hoping for the less crowds.

Two funny things have me scratching my head on if it will be crowded when our family goes.

1. My MIL and Aunt and Uncle in law are coming down for two nights on the 27th and 28th of January . I called a few weeks ago and obtained an excellent time reservation of 5:30pm at Spoodles for the 27th. Then MIL asks me a few days ago to add the Aunt and Uncle. I called back last night and asked now for a table of 7 instead of the 5 I originally booked for. The CM said sorry there are no tables available at that time for 7 people ! My mind was racing at what the crowd level would be. The CM then said let me look to see if there is another time that would be available for a group of 7 people. I hold my breath for what seems like eternity and she comes back to say that there is a table for 7 available for 5:15pm. I almost laughed in her face. She sounded so serious that there was nothing available then comes out with this. I of course took it right away.

I also received good news from my travel agent that our package information is now in and ready to pick up. I have next Thursday morning off so I will go in and look it all over with her and make certain all my questions are answered. I have emailed her but she has yet to respond back (she has been on vacation herself and only quickly popped in to the office today for a bit). I asked her if my husband who is laid off from a GM plant but the plant is not called GM but at test track they do show their vehicles made there-both Chevrolet and Pontiac, what ID to show to obtain passage into the lounge area, or if he qualifies.

Glad everyone is getting their ressies! I don't know about the crowds. We had no trouble getting ADR's. My sister even got breakfast at CRT. No matter what, the crowds in Jan can't possibly be as bad as when we went in July or October over the years. Plus it's much easier waiting in line when it's not 100 degrees out.

I'd love to meet up with everyone but I just don't know when to squeeze it in. I'll have a LGMH that says Snowbird Monny2AE on it. It will be attached to a yellow backpack so feel free to say hello everyone if you see me ! Unless one of my kids is having a meltdown...then you may just want to keep walking!

Happy New Years Eve, Snow Birds! Sometimes I lurk, and sometimes I post, but our trip is getting so darn close I just don't know what to do with myself. Anybody have big NY's plans? We just stay at home with the kids! My DH just made a fire and I bought and made a take and bake pizza from Costco, since tomorrow, I'm going to make a big meal! I think I am going out of my mind with anticipation about this trip. These boards have either been a life saver or, have just fueled my travel planning addiction. My kids are already sick of me talking about the trip, so I have to stifle my enthusiasm. Maybe that will change once we go!!! Anyhow, I see several of your tickers are around our dates. Who is staying at the Poly???? Again, Happy New Years!

I will make sure to post pictures! Mom's doing great. She went in this morning and the doctor was actually able to pull the stone out completely. She still has the stint in, but now it's just in to make sure she drains out as much fluid from her organs as possible. She can take the stint out Sunday. So, we should be good for Disney!!

I like that I'm doing nothing tonight. My sister and I just finished our Garden Grocer order.

Singinglizzie, did you get upgraded to the Poly because of the problems with CSR's business club level? I had read about those issues on another thread. Are you happy about it?
