Good Morning, Snowbirds!!

How is everyone this morning?? I think we need a Question of the Day!

QOTD: What is your favorite ride and why?

That's a hard one for me. I love so many. I think Haunted Manison is my favorite. I love the themeing inside and out. From the stretching room to the doom buggies . . . I just love it all!

Alright! I'm thinking ahead to my next Disney trip. Always planning LOL

Sell me on a different resort. I love the Polynesian but I want to try something else. I love the Poly because of the monorail and the convenience factor.

I would love to try the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge. For those of you who have stayed there, what makes them fabulous?? I'd love to hear about other resorts, too!

I love the HM as well. I haven't been in a loooong time, though, (15 yrs) and I know there's lots of new stuff!!!

What a good QOTD. My favorite ride is the people mover in tomorrow land. I know I am crazy, but I like how you can see different rides and parts of that land from this little ride. I have only seen it crowded once, and usually never have a large line to stand in.

I wish all of you a wonderful day. Positive thoughts for everyone.

Welcome new Snowbirds. It is great that our list is growing.

Remmy

Woo Hoo!

My countdown ticker is back. Last night I noticed Stitch was not there. This was a bit distressing to me as Stitch is now starting to pick up steam and almost to the halfway point. I like seeing that guy moving.

My Cars tickers seems to have stalled and is not moving anywhere. I will give it to the end of the week to move or else. I am sorry to my DS, but I will take it off.

I am thinking that Stitch may have been misbehaving and that could be the reason on why my countdown ticker was missing. We all know how Stitch can be.:rotfl:

My princesses were MIA this morning as well....but they seem to have returned. :)

I simply adore the Haunted Mansion...this trip I will be riding it at midnight which has been a dream of mine for a long time (we don't really need to get into why this is a dream of mine do we LOL:rotfl: ) Seriously if they would just let me ride the ride all day long I would be a happy camper!!

Please do your research. I have said it before and I will say it again - this resort is HUGE!! (Disney's largest resort) If you are used to Values or POFQ, this will be very different. I just don't want anyone to be surprised. We think the largeness is part of it's beauty. Very spread out and quiet and relaxing. But some don't like it's size. So just be prepared! :)

Momto2PrncChrmgs - I just got another review of Big River Grille from a friend who was just there in October and she liked it. She said they don't take ADR's either (like Beaches & Cream) -

Ooooh Shelly! we ate at BRG!!!! This trip!

We got there right at five and there were plenty of seats. I'd go back there. It is good food. :goodvibes I had the salmon dinner- with mashed potatoes and fresh sugar snap peas. It was good! Mark had the Mahi sandwich and he really liked it. The kids... um, oh dang what did they eat??????? Post a menu and I"ll tell you what they had ( if you have one)!

It was very easy to get over there and so for sure, we'd plan on going back again, esp if we were going to be at the boardwalk for the evening.

I do I do I do!!! I'm a trip report Junkie LOL!! She is fantastic!!

Right now I have found the hiliarious venue known as ZZUB world and I'm enjoying his non-reports along with the replies...I haven't laughed that hard in awhile LOL!

Someone else over there mentioned ZZUB....I don't dare check it out, I barely have time to read Miss Cammie and here!!;)

Hmmm...I have heard great things about the California Grille!! Thanks for posting the menu Shelly!

Well we Snowbirds have more in common.
Haunted Mansion has to be my favorite ride. When I first rode it and saw the hitchhiker in my buggy , the hairs on my body stood up on end. The stretchroom had me terrified to go in, but we did and i clung to my mom.
I love that it was still the same in 2007. I was worried about DD when we rode, she was nervous and clinging to me, but it ended up being her favorite ride as well.
We rode it a few times and our last trip on it we got stuck right in front of the opera singer, talk about loud!!!
We love it ! I would love to go for Halloweeen and see the parade to see the man and dog with the lantern!!! That would be an autograph I'd pay for ! :rotfl:

We haven't been there yet. And I have only heard one persons opinion of it - Sarbah77, and she didn't like it. I am going to do some more research and read some reviews and maybe ask about it on the dining board. I am still between Big River and Beaches & Cream. . . I was set with B&C but then I got to thinking that it is pretty much the same as the Plaza and we are eating at the Plaza the day before. . . So I don't know. . . :confused3

Heee. I'm pretty vocal about BRG. But, like any other opinion/trip/meal, your mileage will vary! And maybe that waiter has found another line of work.

Good Morning, Snowbirds!!

How is everyone this morning?? I think we need a Question of the Day!

QOTD: What is your favorite ride and why?

I do enjoy Haunted Mansion, but when we went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg last year, they had a haunted mansion type thing that I thought was so much cooler. It was a ride with 3-D effects and about as scary. It made me realize that HM needs a little sprucing up!

I think I'm with Remmy, though - Tomorrowland Transit Authority is probably my favorite ride, even though it's totally goofy. My next favorite would probably be the safari ride in AK!

I just want to remind or advise all us snowbirds to check the refurb list before you go. We did this last trip and it made a world of difference for disappointment. Our pool was in refurb (Fantasia at ASMo) as was Splash Mountain.
This time round it looks like Philharmagic goes into refurb on our second day there, so we have planned on making this one of our first rides. Good thing we planned dinner at Crystal Palace on arrival day ! Winnie and Wishes to start off my vacation ! :yay:

I can not tell you what yesterday's booking did for me- I feel rejuvinated.:yay:

I'm so happy for you!!! I'm getting all excited about my trip too!!! and my next trip YAY!!

So after all the hoop- la today guess what happened....

When DH was told we could not make a package out of our room only ressie, he got quotes for what we could have. Of course only Pop, AKL and WL were left to choose from with the 3 night free deal and $200 gift card. So he got all the pricing because we had to decide, he spent 40 minutes with the CM confirming she could not make our room only ressie a package regardless of the deal or savings. In amongst all this our room only ressie got cancelled! So Disney IT staff repaired that and created a package for us at the All Stars, but without the savings, without the free nights , and without the gift card- nothing! I honestly think the original CM did not know what she was talking about because why would they not book my room into a package, especially as we were willing to pay full price.

So I come home from work after the stress (and my posting here- thanks for the pixie dust and help), and DH has done the math for the other resorts and how much it will cost per person ( me, DH, Nana, and DD). basically 3 adults sharing the cost. Well with AKL and WL offering us the 3 free nights and gift card, we would be paying pretty much the same as our no special All Stars price. I made a list of all the pros and cons of each resort and the money we would save or not save. With the $200.00 gift card thrown in we pretty much break even from our stay at All Stars versus the quote for WL. So my mom comes over after dinner and we review the resorts online, we review the math (all 3 of us) and .... wait for it.... we decide to change or package!!!!

So we are now 10 nights at Wilderness Lodge, Courtyardview, from Jan 16th to Jan 26th. WOWZERS:yay: :yay: :yay:

I have always loved the look of this resort, and am so thrilled we decided this. We called tonight and confirmed and booked it and we couldn't be happier. I never dreamed this Disney vacation would result in something so magical. What was the most stressful day or my planning also turned out to be the best day. Now I have to admit AKL was looking pretty nice, but the room was better choice at WL and I have always dreamed of staying at WL.

So now I have alot more work to do planning my trip. We haven't even booked an ADR at this resort! LOL

This will be our last time to go when dd is classed as a child, so this will be the only time we can go deluxe until we're empty nesters :lmao:

So this is the way this trip has progressed. 7 days extended to 10 days, Dining Plan upgraded to deluxe, Resort upgraded from Value to Deluxe!

I know we're crazy ! So I am off for more research.

That's great! I have a CM friend who recommended WL to us as the best deluxe for the money! We wanted to do it, but couldn't work the numbers ,

I hope you can go and do something relaxing before your surgery! Good luck!! We'll be thinking of you - and Kayte too! pixiedust:

Does anyone know how far in advance (if at all) you have to add a dining plan? We are considering the QS plan now and wonder if we have to add it well ahead of time. I know you have to pay for it in advance, but could we add it and pay at check in?
TIA!

I heard 72 hours in advance.

My wife and I are going Jan. 16-24 and really looking forward to it. My only concern is that Pop Century will be booked and won't be able to stay there..we've budgeted our money and are going for the dining plan (one table, counter and snack per day)..and we've made advance dinner reservations for all 8 days :) I'm so proud of myself. Plus we knew where we wanted to eat.

Hopefully we'll get the money in time to pay for the entire trip...My wife doesn't get paid for nearly three weeks and can't make a deposit yet.

If there is any way for you to book, I'd do it. Value resorts are the first to book completely. Good luck, though, and welcome!

I went on HM way back in 1971-2 or so. My dad's first comment: "They really should have someone taking a picture with the hitchhiker. They'd make a fortune." And this was well before there were pictures taken at every ride! He was prescient! :wizard:

Love HM, d loves RnRC. Both are on our "must do" list.

For those of you in the Buffalo/Rochester/Herkimer area, I got this message from my d, who's in that area:
On a separate note, why does every lounge seem to have the wings? I have the best freaking wings in the good old USA...why would anyone want Joe the Plumber wings in Florida when they can have Barak wings in Buffalo? It's too far away from Buffalo to be good!
:lmao: :lmao:

ETA to add: What the heck's happened to my ticker??? I don't want to have to create a new one and start at the beginning! It was getting so close!! :sad1:
