California Grill

Thank you so much for posting this! California Grill is our favorite! We haven't been in at least 6 or 7 years but we have adr's for saturday night during our stay at fireworks time while the kids go to simba's clubhouse!! DH is not a huge theme park or disney fan, but he looks forward to special times like a nice dinner at California Grill. I hope it is still as good as we remember.

Heee. I'm pretty vocal about BRG. But, like any other opinion/trip/meal, your mileage will vary! And maybe that waiter has found another line of work.

I had a similar experience at the Cape May breakfast. We had the rudest waitress ever. Everytime I tell anyone about it they tell me that they have always had good service there. . . Guess I caught a bad day. . .

I simply adore the Haunted Mansion...this trip I will be riding it at midnight which has been a dream of mine for a long time (we don't really need to get into why this is a dream of mine do we LOL ) Seriously if they would just let me ride the ride all day long I would be a happy camper!!

This is my DD's fav too! Last December she and my DH rode it 8-9 times while DS and I watched SpectroMagic. They wlaked on and then just hoped off and walked around again. They did the same on POC while I sat outside with a napping DS in the stroller.

As for my favorite.....I'd have to say Peter Pan! I love watching the awe on my kids faces while on this ride. I think they feel transported. PP is our favorite movie and Tick Tock is a much loved creature in our house...oh, and did I mention Tink!?!?

A close second is Soarin'! I just love it!

QOTD: What is your favorite ride and why?

We give another vote for Haunted Mansion. Our daughter has referred to it as the ride with "the room with no windows and no doors" or is it "no doors and no windows?” Oh heck, it's one or the other. It's been their favorite since their first trip when they were 3 and 1. Our kids are freaks, the more scary the ride, the better. Tower of Terror, Dinosaur, Space Mountain etc. etc. etc. Our two year old has an out-of-body when he can't get on the 40" rides. He'll be close this year, so we'll see.

Hi Snowbirds! It is monday again! Only 7 more mondays till I am in DISNEY WORLD! Least I think I counted right!


That is great. I tried calling last night and tried switching my Kona ADR for 12/31. No luck. I needed a ADR not in a park since we are just resort hopping that night. No luck. So I am going to do Beaches and cream, that way we can get the kitchen sink. DS is a big ice cream eater. It should be fun.



Becca I hope it works out for you. Are you going to share your wedding pictures with all of us?

I pack food items, small toiletries, first aids, tiny laundry detergents, anything like that in 2 medium sized boxes and ship it via FED EX. Call your resort and get the exact address---tell them you are shipping your family a care package, or whatever. Attention:your name. I do this usually on the Mon or Tues before our Saturday flight. The resort holds it in the luggage room and ask for it upon check-in. This usually has stuff in it that's all consumable, so you shouldn't have to repack and bring any home.!!

Thanks! Since we are leaving on a Wens. do you think I should send it the week before. I am worried with christmas and everything.

I would definitely send it out by the Friday before. When we go on Sat. I try to send it by Tues.because they aren't tunning on Sat. So, maybe even Thurs to be safe-the resort is just gonna put it in a holding spot anyway, so it doesn't matter if it 's a day early. Do you know where you are going to ship it from? Maybe you should call and ask how long it takes to ship to Lake Buena Vista , Florida (that's the actual address) --they should be able to tell you, Orlando if they can't find it. But, better safe than sorry!!!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was busy but good. I spent yesterday painting my living/dining rooms and 2 hours this morning at the dentist

On the good side, I have only 56 Days till Disney

I read somewhere 4 days!?

WE GOT CBR!!! I'm so excited! All we've ever done is values, so once we started really looking at it and saw how much more you got for only $230 more! Yeaaaaaa!!!!! Of course all our 6 yr old knows is Pop, so he was upset that we weren't going to do Pop again! We told him that if we got to CBR and hated it, we'd try to move to Pop (ok, so we lied)!

OK CBR fans, now I have a new obsession! I said before we are lazy and don't like to walk a bunch when we get back to the resort. So what areas are closest to busses, beach, the cool pirate pool, etc! HELP!!! I'm out of my element now!

We paid for preferred location and were given Trinidad North, it was close to the pool and our bus stop was right out the door. I was not impressed with the room we were given. It was a parking view. Since I booked the trip months in advance, I think I should have been given a better choice. I was even madder after we ran into someone who lives near us, who did not pay for a preferred room and was in a nicer location with a view of the lake. I did write a letter to WDW and CBR, no reply from either. I felt the walk around the resort is so awesome that you won’t mind it at all. Even at night you will enjoy the bunnies and FRIENDS around the resort. The customs house was a walk from the preferred location. It is huge, but don’t get discouraged, I would defiantly stay here again.

Does anyone know how far in advance (if at all) you have to add a dining plan? We are considering the QS plan now and wonder if we have to add it well ahead of time. I know you have to pay for it in advance, but could we add it and pay at check in?

I was told the same thing when I canceled my ddp. You then can pay for it upon check in.

Okay, I did see on the dining plan thread that Sharadoc already asked this question and you can't add it at check-in. Does anyone know exactly how far ahead of time you have to add it?

Yep - 3-5 days was the recommended timeframe from over there.

Ok. I'm nuts. Even though we're spending next to nothing staying at my parents timeshare, I priced out staying on property. Yes, I did look at CBR!!! If we were to book there, it would cost us about $1700 more than we're paying right now. However, that would include all of our food. So, I went out and priced how much I think we'll spend on meals. It still doesn't work out. I'd love to stay on property, but I know there's always next time! Even with my parents having timeshares, they (well, my mom) want to stay on property the next time they go. We'll be able to split the cost, but I have no idea where we'll have to stay. It will be at least 8 of us! Well, I'm off to bed. Good night!

Haha. I could spend practically nothing on accommodations this trip (my aunt has a timeshare, my parents are part of a vacation club, and my sister's parent's in-law have a house in Orlando) but I am just so excited to stay on the property that I won't accept any other options. However, we'll probably never do it again unless we stay at Shades of Green, which we would be doing this trip, except they have no King Bed option.
With the new deal out though... I'm really considering booking a room, probably at CBR, for my graduation trip in June. I'd get to stay on the property again and my youngest brother and sister could stay with Logan and I. It would be really fun for them, and I'd get to try out CBR! We'll see if Logan and I can justify the cost though...especially since the rest of the family will be staying somewhere for practically nothing.

We are leaving PA on the 5th but not checking in to Disney until the 6th. We are visiting family the day before.

I'm just outside of Harrisburg, so not too far from you. I actually have a cousin the th Poconos.


I am truly hoping they are not sold out. I have this nightmare about my ressies being cancelled and then having no where to stay. Maybe they are blocking off rooms so that when other codes comeout, there are still rooms available

Well... I checked the dates around my dates, and it seems that the days that are keeping it from popping up are the Marathon Weekend. However, every other room category is available when I cut the days back to leave that weekend out. I'm a little disappointed, because I assumed that if I ultimately decided that I wanted to upgrade to a Savannah View or Concierge, then I'd be able to do that, but now I would have to do a split stay which I really don't want to do.

That's a hard one for me. I love so many. I think Haunted Manison is my favorite. I love the themeing inside and out. From the stretching room to the doom buggies . . . I just love it all!

I love too many rides to pick a favorite. I absolutely love the Peter Pan ride though, to me it just seems to be idyllic of Disney Magic. We'll see how I feel after this trip though. The last one we didn't get to ride very many rides...

Alright! I'm thinking ahead to my next Disney trip. Always planning LOL

Sell me on a different resort. I love the Polynesian but I want to try something else. I love the Poly because of the monorail and the convenience factor.

I would love to try the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge. For those of you who have stayed there, what makes them fabulous?? I'd love to hear about other resorts, too!

QOTD - I have a few favs....Spaceship Earth, I think because our son just LOVED this ride. We were able to ride it last year during the "soft re-openings". Once he rode it once, he wanted to ride it again and again. I really like RNRC, Pirates and Peter Pan!!

Ok. I just priced June.
Pirate Themed Room at CBR with Quick Service Dining for the four of us $2722.28! I don't think we'll have that kind of money then, and especially not enough to book it by December 20th!

It is cool to price the Pirate Rooms though, because they change how the buttons look...

If I take it down to a Standard room, and take off Dining it's only $1770.14 which isn't as bad, but I doubt very practical.

Good Morning Snowbirds

I've been away for a few days. Hubby was home sick a few days and I've been busy trying to get all the rooms painted before my ENTIRE family comes to see the house and spend the night for Thanksgiving! Am I crazy??? (Entire = 10 adults, 14 kids and 4 dogs!)

So I got a PIN yesterday....First time ever in the 5 years we've been going! I was so excited, I was checking my emails from my phone and saw it....I made a beeline for home I was so thrilled...it's the merchandise card....it looks like a good deal, except it can't be used on the Photo Pass package and you don't get it till you check in.....I really wanted to buy the big one and do some Christmas/Birthday shopping with it. I did find out that you can use it when you call Disney Merchandising though...wooohooo! So, another decision to be made and of course, I can't seem to decide which level to get. Oh the angst of going to WDW

Favorite Ride??? Well of course...Philharmagic! I can't get enough of this attraction. It makes me feel like a little kid and I just love the scents and air blasts! Next fav....EE....when I was there in September I got "left behind" from the rest of the group and ended up missing getting into Nemo, where e1 else was. So, I just kept looping through the single rider line until Nemo was over...It was great! Sidenote: Did you know if you sit in the first car on EE when you get stopped at the "broken track" you can look out and see all the park icons over the horizon...it's awesome!

Last night DS11 was teaching DH to use Utube....now there's a whole comedy act in and of itself, but, the funny thing was once he got to see one ride video he started looking for all the others. It was like giving a kid chocolate! Pretty soon all the "boys" were having a grand time planning their next trip via Utube...what a blast!

Well, I'm off to paint my third coat of "McQueen Red". Why oh why did I pick this color??? Good thing it's only the bottom of the wall.....his ceiling is 15 feet or more!

If you go to the Calendar on the Disney Website and click operational updates it gives lists for each park. Right now the list for January is:
Magic Kingdom:
*Dumbo The Flying Elephant: Closed for Refurbishment [January 7, 2009]
*Mickey's PhilharMagic : Closed for Refurbishment [January 18, 2009 to January 31, 2009]
*Splash Mountain®: Closed for Refurbishment [January 4, 2009 to January 17, 2009]
*The Hall Of Presidents: Closed for Refurbishment [January 1, 2009 to January 31, 2009]

and Typhoon Lagoon will be closed the whole month.

I just realized that the Hall of Presidents isn't only closed in January. They closed it today, and won't reopen it until the end of January.

Also, something you should look at is the schedule for Fantasmic, because that's limited beginning in January.

QOTD: What is your favorite ride and why?

Peter Pan! It is my mom's favorite ride and she would always tell me about it when I was a little girl. I think that is why I love it so much.

What a good QOTD. My favorite ride is the people mover in tomorrow land. I know I am crazy, but I like how you can see different rides and parts of that land from this little ride. I have only seen it crowded once, and usually never have a large line to stand in.

Right now I have found the hiliarious venue known as ZZUB world and I'm enjoying his non-reports along with the replies...I haven't laughed that hard in awhile LOL!

Link me to Miss Cammie and tell me about ZZUB. The Pastor's are on a retreat right now and we all have a VERY light work load right now.

Haha. I could spend practically nothing on accommodations this trip (my aunt has a timeshare, my parents are part of a vacation club, and my sister's parent's in-law have a house in Orlando) but I am just so excited to stay on the property that I won't accept any other options. However, we'll probably never do it again unless we stay at Shades of Green, which we would be doing this trip, except they have no King Bed option.

Hello Snowbirds!!! Well, I had lots to catch up on this morning!!Aahhhh the talk of In-Laws!! I have some friends that when they get going on this it's like a steam locomotive---no stopping. So, whatever you were going to say is totally out the window!!! I too, have a weird family!! I guess we are all weird to an extent!!! But, it just seems maginified when they are connected to you!!! My husbands parents have both passed away- I never met his dad. I married the baby of the family, so things were not great between she & I, she died the summer after my daughter was born, so she's been gone 5 years. In that time, my husbands family haven't gotten together for anything. The siblings aren't that close, but he still talks to them periodically.

My family Well, my growing up was kinda crazy, too long to discuss, my granny (mom's mom) passed away when I was 17, I still miss her. Her husband, my Paw-Paw, is turning 80 this Feb. and still goes & goes, & goes. He walks 5 miles every morning! His wife started out great, until her son had a child-things turned after that!! My dad's family we don't see-they were abusive people and so, my dad was abusive in turn. Mainly verbal/emotional, but sometimes physical. My parents divorced when I was about 26 and I was soooo glad. He is just mean. Some people are. I know that sounds weird, but his whole family is that way--they will tell you that they are mean and they lie and are proud of it Hence, I have no relationship with my dad or any of them. I tried for a while after the divorce, but things happened that I could not condone. And after what my brother and I were put through, I didn't want my kids suffering when I could stop it.

My brother!!! Wow!! He's worse than my dad. He has a little boy that 's 3-and he and my SIL are getting a divorce. Again, good for her, becuase he runs around on her constantly and is VERY abusive to her and my nephew.

my mom is 3 hours away, but she's the kids only grandma. She and my hubby are really close--Thank the Lord!!! But, she does tend to wear on you after a couple of days!!! She has her hang ups as well!!! Extreme OCD and Panic attacks...... God love her!!! Love her in small doses, Ya know?!!!!

Good Morning Snowbirds

I've been away for a few days. Hubby was home sick a few days and I've been busy trying to get all the rooms painted before my ENTIRE family comes to see the house and spend the night for Thanksgiving! Am I crazy??? (Entire = 10 adults, 14 kids and 4 dogs!)

So I got a PIN yesterday....First time ever in the 5 years we've been going! I was so excited, I was checking my emails from my phone and saw it....I made a beeline for home I was so thrilled...it's the merchandise card....it looks like a good deal, except it can't be used on the Photo Pass package and you don't get it till you check in.....I really wanted to buy the big one and do some Christmas/Birthday shopping with it. I did find out that you can use it when you call Disney Merchandising though...wooohooo! So, another decision to be made and of course, I can't seem to decide which level to get. Oh the angst of going to WDW

Favorite Ride??? Well of course...Philharmagic! I can't get enough of this attraction. Next fav....EE....when I was there in September I got "left behind" from the rest of the group and ended up missing getting into Nemo, where e1 else was. So, I just kept looping through the single rider line until Nemo was over...It was great!

Last night DS11 was teaching DH to use Utube....now there's a whole comedy act in and of itself, but, the funny thing was once he got to see one ride video he started looking for all the others. It was like giving a kid chocolate! Pretty soon all the "boys" were having a grand time planning their next trip via Utube...what a blast!

Well, I'm off to paint my third coat of "McQueen Red". Why oh why did I pick this color??? Good thing it's only the bottom of the wall.....his ceiling is 15 feet or more!

Haha. My 6 year old cousin is hilarious with YouTube. She gets on there and looks up funny cat clips. She has her favorites that she watches over and over again.

Did the Home Depot person not warn you about that color? Red is a pain, and that Red comes out pink in the can and dries red, if I'm not mistaken. I remember opening one of the Disney reds for a Dad and his son, and they both looked at me like I mixed the wrong color. Have fun with your painting!

My two questions:

(Non-Disney Related) Can any mommy's give me advice / encouragement on how to handle the 'twos'? Belle is starting to say no to everything, fall out on the floor in public and hide behind the couch (where we cannot get to her) when she doesn't want to leave the house, go in time out, change her diaper, ect.

(Disney Related) How late can I add travel insurance to our trip?
