January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part III !!!

I brought up 2 suitcases from the basement for our little weekend trip this coming weekend and set them in the doorway to my bedroom today. As soon as the kids got home from school DS7 spotted them. He got this huge smile on his face and said - HEY WHAT ARE THOSE SUITCASES DOING UP HERE???:yay: They still have the LGMH's attached to them from our last trip. I think he seriously thought we were going to WDW. Poor little guy. :sad2: But judging from the look on his face Christmas morning is going to be something else!! :santa: :cool1: Can't wait!! :goodvibes
Awwww! Poor little guy! I hope you are capturing it all so we can see it!

I wanted to share my excitement with my snowbird buddies:

Our trip is now officially...... PAID IN FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:dance3:  :cool1: :cloud9: :yay: :cheer2: :rotfl: :jumping1: :Pinkbounc :tink: :flower1: :woohoo:

We are on our way...:car:
congratulations!!

Technically... it probably would be possible as long as you didn't have to switch terminals. Usually, when I've had layovers in ATL for Delta the other gate is across the way from the one I'm getting off at... If you chose seats at the front of the plane, you could probably get off fast enough and they would probably be waiting for you to check in... unless your flight was late, so it's probably better that you got a different one....

That's a lot of If's LOL I definitely didn't feel comfortable with 12 minutes. Too much can happen and I'm a nervous nelly about stuff like that. I like everything to go according to the plan!

Nothing is happening on the code board... well I am off to take DS to school and then to vote... see ya all back soon...

Nope no codes yet. I almost forgot to check this morning. I have a feeling they are waiting til the election is over too. Especially after reading the article about it. (Thanks Becca:) - I shared it over on the code watch thread too. I hope you don't mind.)

There was lots of talk about packing this early in the game and I have to admit that yes I'm that pathetic. You all know of my Secret WDW Tub from Snowbirds Part I and II. I've been packing stuff for a couple months now...toiletries, swim suits, some clothes:rolleyes1 It's an illness really.

Here's all my toiletries and such all separated into gallon bags.

Well, no codes yet :sad2: but look at my ticker - there's now a 1 in front of the month!!!

Come on, codes!! :scared:

And I can't vote until after work - I leave home before the polls open. At least I have my book to keep me company in the expected ridiculously long lines!

Good Morning Snowbirds! Just a quick pop in today to say HI and to encourage y'all to go and cast your VOTE! :thumbsup2 We are starting construction on our basement today! FINALLY! Today is DEMO DAY! DH is home from work again today as he did his back in again over the weekend.... silly man! I told him not to vacuum! Did he listen.....NO! I swear, these men are like children sometimes! Gotta go get the girls ready for school! Check in later! :)

Remember, you only have to pack liquids or gels in gallon bags. Powders, like makeup, toothbrushes, wipes don't need to be packed that way. And it's only if you're carrying the liquids or gels in your carry on. If it's in checked luggage, you can carry larger sizes in any containers you want.

Kim, Have you been digging in my travel bin? I see lots of my products.....in my Ziplock bags!!! I always put stuff in there when it's down to a weeks worth--that way when we leave I can throw it out and not have to repack---we have to make room somewhere for all the new stuff we get!! HA!

Good Morning Snowbirds!!!:goodvibes

If you haven't done it earlier-------VOTE!!!!! Remember, it's a privelege that people have sacrificed for, so that we can do this!!! No flames, and I don't want to start a debate---just think about the big picture before you vote--we have lots of issues at stake this go-round!

WARNING~~~ I don't know if you all have seen this, but I checked it out on snopes-there is a computer virus circling around about a postcard. Supposedly someone is sending you an e-card, and it says this is a postcard from......(family member, friend, Hallmark, worshipper, class-mate...) and when you open it, your hard drive is burned some how. I checked it on snope and it is true. You computer:surfweb: techies should check it out and explain how it can burn a hole in anything!!! All I know is I won't opend it!! You are supposed to shut down your computer or something when you receive it. This is suppose to be a BIG virus, so watch out!:3dglasses

Snowbird... I received a flyer in the mail from Disney Vacation Club.... my sister is a DVC owner but we are not.... you would think with all the times we have gone it would benefit us... but putting my accounting degree to use I figured out that by staying at SOG for the majority of our visits (which we do)... We could go for 25 days a year for the next 50 years and it wouldn't cost as much as DVC with maintenance fees.... I guess if you really like the deluxe resorts then its okay... but for me at least having a clean room with a pillow is good enough... DD and DH are hotel snobs though... they like the deluxe hotels... but they both LOVE SOG.... DS doesn't care where we stay...

so..... this flyer is for DVC travel show... it is an inviation to come to the show... of course they are trying to sell you DVC.. which we have already figured I will not buy..it is at Strong Museum in Rochester... about an hour away...you get free admission to the museum and the travel show.... but they are giving away Prizes... there will be Disney Character appearances, dessert reception, etc.... what do you think... should I go...

Good Morning Snowbirds!!! I've been lurking on your thread for awhile now and just couldn't be quiet any longer. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one packing so early! We too have a "Disney Bin". We recently relocated and the movers thought it was hilarious. I gave the packer a stern look and he quickly moved on! (maybe the three other boxes of "disney memories" was a hint that I take this stuff seriously!:lmao:

Anywho....we have three boys 11,3 & 2. Our three year old has been struggling with potty training so about two weeks ago he asked when we were going to "Didney Woorld" again. I told him 1. When he was going in the big potty 2. After it snowed 3. After Santa came WELL.....last Monday we got a flurry and he comes running into the room......Maaa it snowing, Santa coming....we gotta go to Didney Woorld! Good thing is....he is going in the potty!

I'm sooo happy to be a snowbird!:goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great and wonderful day.

To all my American friends please go and vote if you can.

I know that when we had our election a few weeks ago, DH and I went out and voted. It was really disappointing to find out Canada wide this was the lowest election voter turnout ever.

Thank you for the article of why they may be waiting for the codes. I personally think it is a combination of reasons why they are not doing anything right yet. Since some of the product they sell is time sensitive, such as hotel rooms, you must sell it for that night as once it is gone, it is gone, as in no shelf life. If they cannot even fill rooms for right now, that may be their main concentration as this is the financial period they are in right now and accountable to the stock holders. That is just my 2 cents.

We are experiencing a mini heat wave too. I am loving it. I like the no snow, no extra jacket, no winter boots, etc, etc. I wish it could always be this way. I think I would miss snow, only for a little while.

QOTD-We are making it a tradition to eat at CRT until the children don't wish to go any longer. It is so neat to eat in a castle and see all the princesses.

I must go to work today. I wonder what the new menu of the day will be? I will try to catch up when I come back.

Remmy

Hi Guys!!!
I haven't been around in a while and I missed you.:grouphug:

It's been a little busy in my world with sick kids, Halloween,The Phillies winning the world series:banana: a trip to NY to see Spamalot (which was fabulous):lmao: and work.

There is no way I can catch up on like a week of Dissing...I hope everyone is doing well and had a happy halloween. My Abby has been sick and was pretty cranky. You can look in her eyes and see she was not a happy camper.

Well...I am off to get us all ready for a doctors appointment...It is her 2 year well visit, even though she is not so well.

Hooray for a 1 in your ticker countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting for hubby to come home and then we're all going to vote...with two kids ages 1 and 4...this should be interesting. :rolleyes1

:lmao: The gallon bags are just my way of organizing. (Sad, I know but I'm a classic Type A I guess.) I'm driving not flying so I don't have to worry about the crazy liquid restrictions.

I bet all of our bins look identical. I threw in stuff as time went by too. I bought Listerine and Baby Wash at BJ's and they both came with a smaller bottle for free....in the Disney Bin they went. I had coupons for deodorant...1 went in the Disney Bin. Some of it is from our last vacation- the Dawn disposable dish wipe thingies...You get the idea!

Your comments on the importance of voting today were right on target!!!! No matter who you are voting for be sure to vote.

And thanks for the heads up about the virus I hadn't heard about it yet. Yikes! :scared1: I'll lose my Disney packing list and notes and schedule...I better make a back up of some stuff just in case.

Some people just don't get it. My own husband thinks I'm crazy. I bet the movers had a good laugh and a funny story to share with their coworkers after they finished moving you! "You should have seen this lady. She had boxes designated just for Disney World..."
Whatever works! Congrats on the potty training success!

The ride home is the worst!! I get to fly down this year, but am driving back. Ugh.

Agreed - NOTHING to look forward to. I'm trying to plan a stop on the second day to at least have something different to do. Maybe buy a couple of new videos for the ride home. Ah well, it's worth it to put up to save ALL that money!!

Good morning Snowbirds.

I took the kids to school, voted, and went to WalMart. Now I'm getting ready to head back to the school to sort & deliver the fundraiser stuff.

I see there's still no codes. . .

Shelly! You should never feel guilty about leaving your children - especially if it is for a romantic getwawy with your husband! Remember, those boys are going to grow up and leave home some day but you and your hubby will be together for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! I definitely think that your marriage deserves a little attention once in a while! :) When we did our premarital counselling, our pastor told us that we need to spend time with each other .....

DAILY - talk about your days and how you feel etc
WEEKLY - get out of the house together without kids (even just to go for a walk and talk while holding hands)
YEARLY - take a night or weekend to get as far as possible away from your house and children! Relax, unwind and recreate together, Ideally sometime near your wedding anniversary, but anytime is fine!

Your marriage will bloom and flourish and your sons will be better men because of your example! :)

Wow that's some great advise. And I'm sure you are absolutely right. We have just got out of the habit of doing anything without the kids. We don't have a lot of options when leaving them so it just always seems like such a hassle to find a sitter, so we just end up taking them everywhere with us. So now it's just hard to leave them. I am going to try and relax and I'm sure DH and I will have a nice time. :goodvibes

Welcome aboard! This is the cutest thing!

XXXX

Well good morning my fine feathered friends! It's already 54 degrees here today at 8:20am. I'm doing a little shopping this morning with a two 2 yr olds....that should be fun! But I need to make Taco Salad for tomorrow, so it will be fun. Then it's playing outside as much as possible.

I'll wait until probably mid afternoon to go vote. For some odd reason we tend to go vote as a family :confused3 .

And I thought of really good QOTD last night and didn't post it or write it down and now I forget....grrrr.

Good morning Snowbirds! It's been said many times already, but everyone go VOTE! I'm going a little later. DD doesn't have school, so we slept in. I thought I read on here that someone was expecting long lines. I've never had to stand in line to vote ever. I've seen some crazy lines on the news and I don't get it. Maybe I've always voted at a slow polling place I guess!

Snowbird... I received a flyer in the mail from Disney Vacation Club.... my sister is a DVC owner but we are not.... you would think with all the times we have gone it would benefit us... but putting my accounting degree to use I figured out that by staying at SOG for the majority of our visits (which we do)...

I'm thinking about going to this! I got the same flyer in the mail. When I read that there would be characters, I knew that my DD would love it!

btw..are any of you guys on facebook? just wondering. I am on their alot.

I LOVE facebook! Well, I'm not the biggest fan of the "new" facebook, but I still go on there daily.
