btw..are any of you guys on facebook? just wondering. I am on their alot.

I am! I am! It's a great combination of my RL friends, my fave coworkers, and my different groups of internet friends! Add me! Add me!

...but I suppose you need more of a name than "Sarah", huh? ;)

+++

I'll be voting after work today. I might end up dropping off one of my coworkers at her polling place (they seem to be every block here, which is faboo!), since she uses a cane (at age 23, poor girl!) and her boyfriend has the car and is out of town. I'll bring my husband and maybe a book, but I'm hopeful the lines won't be too awful. Hard to say, though... we're supposed to hit 72 today which ought to make for a phenomenal turnout!

Snowbird... I received a flyer in the mail from Disney Vacation Club....

so..... this flyer is for DVC travel show... it is an inviation to come to the show... of course they are trying to sell you DVC.. which we have already figured I will not buy..it is at Strong Museum in Rochester... about an hour away...you get free admission to the museum and the travel show.... but they are giving away Prizes... there will be Disney Character appearances, dessert reception, etc... what do you think... should I go...

Yes, I would go if I didn't have anything else to do. Prizes are always cool!

Good Morning Snowbirds!!! I've been lurking on your thread for awhile now and just couldn't be quiet any longer. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one packing so early! We too have a "Disney Bin". We recently relocated and the movers thought it was hilarious. I gave the packer a stern look and he quickly moved on! (maybe the three other boxes of "disney memories" was a hint that I take this stuff seriously!:lmao:

Anywho....we have three boys 11,3 & 2. Our three year old has been struggling with potty training so about two weeks ago he asked when we were going to "Didney Woorld" again. I told him 1. When he was going in the big potty 2. After it snowed 3. After Santa came WELL.....last Monday we got a flurry and he comes running into the room......Maaa it snowing, Santa coming....we gotta go to Didney Woorld! Good thing is....he is going in the potty!
I'm sooo happy to be a snowbird!:goodvibes

:welcome: Your son sounds so cute! I love when kids get so excited like that!

Well, the kids are on the bus, and I'm going to go vote!! Catch ya later!

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:
I was away for the weekend and am now 59 pages behind! :scared1:
Well, at least y'all didn't move on to Part IV while I was gone!
I hope everyone had a nice Halloween and a good weekend. We had a nice trip (though our team lost...after FOUR overtimes! :headache: ) but it's always nice to come home (well, maybe except after a Disney trip!) Now I need to go :laundy:...

ETA: Still no discount codes?

Wow that's some great advise. And I'm sure you are absolutely right. We have just got out of the habit of doing anything without the kids. We don't have a lot of options when leaving them so it just always seems like such a hassle to find a sitter, so we just end up taking them everywhere with us. So now it's just hard to leave them. I am going to try and relax and I'm sure DH and I will have a nice time. :goodvibes

Same here-my parents are 3 hours away, and it's hard finding someone to watch all 3 at the last minute--which is usually when we decide to do date night!! I am a planner, but DH is not, so..... but we have a couple of good baby sitters, but they are always in demand!! We probably will do a weekend thing for our 15th in April--I 'll have to get my mom to come in and stay here with them. That's easiest all the way around!

Goodmorning! I was really hoping my church would be filled with excited voters, but they are on the opposite side of our campus. School is cancled, too. This means a boring day for me! Boo!

Hope everyone has a great day!:cool1:

I'm waiting for hubby to come home and then we're all going to vote...with two kids ages 1 and 4...this should be interesting. :rolleyes1

We had planned on dropping our 5 year old off at before-school prior to voting (hubby and I both work in the downtown area and drive to work together). We told him we were voting and he wanted to go with us. So we took him. Apparently they're talking about the voting process in school (in Kindergarten!). He knew the candidates names and everything. He was wonderful waiting in the line! So, you just never know...:goodvibes

I had to laugh at the precinct captain (or whatever he is). He came up to us and told us to be sure our son wasn't right next to us as we were casting our votes so he couldn't read our ballot....hello? He's 5! His reading vocabulary consists of 1-5 letter words! :lmao: Plus, he's not tall enought to see over the table! :lmao: It was just too funny at 7:00 in the morning after having stood outside for an hour waiting to vote. :lmao:

Oh my goodness!!!! My ticker says 1 month (and some weeks and days).
Getting closer!!!!!

We voted absentee ballot this year...my grandfather hads knee surgery yesterday...so it was easier. I'm glad we did because their predicting a record turnout in Michigan, esp. with the nice weather and I was not looking forward to the long lines.

My mom lives in the same town as us but we try not to abuse the sitter situation. But we have worked out a great system with our next door neighbors. If Sherrie needs some "alone time" ie cleaning, shopping whatever she sends her kids to us, if Chuck & want to go for a walk or something we send ours to her.

Plus its always nice to do the "family walk" the kids ride their bikes, usually WAY ahead of us, we walk the dogs, hold hands & talk uninterrupted. We try to do that at least once a week.

Well, I'm back from voting. I think it was a good strategy to go when most people are at work. No real lines. In and out. :)

I agree with everyone on alone time. DH and I have date nights every month or two. Now we are going to see some of the Broadway shows coming through town in the next year, so we have some planned nights. We are very fortunate that my parents are nearby and babysit all the time. They even did my daycare for a few years when the girls were really little. Lucky for me, they're not very busy and can almost always watch them. I'm still trying to convince DH on a weekend away trip, and I think we're making some progress. ;) He just would rather be with the kids and do family stuff. Plus he works 6 days a week so it's sometimes tricky to schedule.
I do get to go for a weekend once in a while with girlfriends to a cabin or scrapbooking. Done that a few times. That's nice too. :)

DHS that is...

We'll have 10 day passes so inevitably we'll end up in DHS for lunch more than once, and from what I can see Pizza Planet is the only option that appeals to us (especially with DD11 being lactose intollerant).

So for the Disney Resort Illiterate (we only ever saw the comtemporary and ASMo where we stayed last time back in 2001), is there a close by resort(?) cs anyone would reccommend visiting for lunch and a look around, or are we better off heading to Epcot for a stroll around WS for lunch, or even head to DTD???

There's all the Boardwalk resorts. They have a boat that goes from MGM to the Boardwalk resorts I have an evening planned where we'll leave EPCOT around 5, go to the Boardwalk and probably eat at Beaches & Cream, then head to MGM for EMH... if we make it that far...

That's a lot of If's LOL I definitely didn't feel comfortable with 12 minutes. Too much can happen and I'm a nervous nelly about stuff like that. I like everything to go according to the plan!

Yeah... I completely understand. It's easier to have the later flight booked beforehand, than miss your flight and have to wait hours for them to fit you in somewhere else.

Nope no codes yet. I almost forgot to check this morning. I have a feeling they are waiting til the election is over too. Especially after reading the article about it. (Thanks Becca:) - I shared it over on the code watch thread too. I hope you don't mind.)

There was lots of talk about packing this early in the game and I have to admit that yes I'm that pathetic. You all know of my Secret WDW Tub from Snowbirds Part I and II. I've been packing stuff for a couple months now...toiletries, swim suits, some clothes:rolleyes1 It's an illness really.

Here's all my toiletries and such all separated into gallon bags.

I don't mind.

Snowbird... I received a flyer in the mail from Disney Vacation Club.... my sister is a DVC owner but we are not.... you would think with all the times we have gone it would benefit us... but putting my accounting degree to use I figured out that by staying at SOG for the majority of our visits (which we do)... We could go for 25 days a year for the next 50 years and it wouldn't cost as much as DVC with maintenance fees.... I guess if you really like the deluxe resorts then its okay... but for me at least having a clean room with a pillow is good enough... DD and DH are hotel snobs though... they like the deluxe hotels... but they both LOVE SOG.... DS doesn't care where we stay...

so..... this flyer is for DVC travel show... it is an inviation to come to the show... of course they are trying to sell you DVC.. which we have already figured I will not buy..it is at Strong Museum in Rochester... about an hour away...you get free admission to the museum and the travel show.... but they are giving away Prizes... there will be Disney Character appearances, dessert reception, etc.... what do you think... should I go...

I say go!

Yea! I actually got some house cleaning done. Cleaning is the most dreaded thing for me to do. Yuck! It at least makes me feel as if I've accomplished something though instead of just laying around. I guess I should go get showered so I can go vote. My DD can't wait to do the kids voting! Her 1st grade teacher took a poll yesterday in school to see who the kids wanted to vote for. Without getting too much into detail, only 3 other little girls are voting the same way as my little one. She then told me that a little boy sitting next to her kept telling her, "no, vote for the other guy. the other guy!" Very persuasive for a 6 yr old! Be back later after I run some errands and VOTE!!!!

Today should be an interesting day.

No kidding!

Of course now I have my two addictions competing! I am on disboards one minute and cnn the next. I should start the coffee now and keep it going - it's going to be a long night!

I voted early, and now I'm kind of sad. I'm glad that I didn't have too long of a line (30-40 minutes), but today just has a cool excitement...

Good Morning!!! Well my NDH and I went at 6:30 this morning and we voted!! What really made me proud was a few of my older students were in line and they were so excited about being able to vote for the first time. We even took pictures of us at the precinct together!! It was such a good moment for me to see the younger generation out voting and letting their voice be heard.

Other than that I feel like death warmed over!! I put in for a sub tomorrow so you guys might have to keep me company while I lay in bed!! I have told my students that no matter who wins tonight that not to bring it into the classroom.

WELCOME WELCOME to our newest snowbirds!! Hope you are ready to party!!!

COngrats to all of you that just reached the 1 month mark!!!

I'm registered in a different county, so I had to vote last week. I was worried I wasn't going to get my ballot in on time though. It's good I already voted, because I don't really have much time today to go anywhere and wait in line.

I got a B on my Biology test last night. I was really hoping that I'd be able to get an A in the class, but I doubt it now. Oh well.. I have too much stuff to do this week to worry about it.

Oooh.... my ticker says 2 months!!! :yay:

I know it doesn't seem like I have a lot to get done today, but I'm at work right now, so I'm getting in my computer time before I have to really focus this evening.

I suppose I should go do my job though?
