Whats the weather like for ya'll today? We have a small cool front coming in and it's raining to beat the band!! Dark and pouring rain!!! 80% til late Wed. night/early Thursday. You would know it, Mike has a house waiting to be bricked this week!! Ha!! Maybe next Monday!!

Our weather is cool/cold (upper 30s), damp, and with what DH describes as a "surprise" wind. So it feels miserable...

Plus I had my finest pair of Cranky Pants on before I left work today (so did DH and we vented at each other but not ON each other) (does it ever stop hurting when you know that a loved one/friend is in a really terrible situation? but all you can do is wait and be there for that person?). When we got home, our wireless router died! So I'm currently plugged in via an ethernet cable but sitting on the floor with my laptop. Common sense would dictate that I could sit in a chair, but me and my crankypants like it right here THANK YOU VERY MUCH (oh dear).

Of course, I'm afraid there are health reasons for my mood and then I worry that it's going to interfere with things and then I won't have surgery on Friday. So I'm cranky and worried. It's a silly combination. I'm going to read about happy fun Disney things and hope I cheer up soon. :)

I too LOVE Christmas. A local radio station last year starting playing Christmas music on Nov 1st! I personally loved it, but most of WNY did not. I'm so excited to decorate our first house!

On November 1, I flipped our car radio to WNIC, which is now all Christmas music until Christmas day. I love it. When I was visiting my folks last week, combined we bought about a dozen Christmas CDs. I can't wait to put up our tree together and I'm looking forward to shopping!

Now Playing: Peter, Paul, and Mary's Holiday Celebration

Our local radio stations haven't started playing Christmas music around the clock but one of the stations in the evening has the Deliah show and she's been playing Christmas songs so I get my fix then LOL

I spot listening to WNIC on Nov. 1...too early for Christmas music...I listen again after Thanksgiving...I actually voted on their website to not start until after Thanksgiving.

I think my cranky pants are welded on and I can't get them off! :rotfl2: I had a Dr appt today and shopped a little on the way home, then picked up kids and dinner (uh...drive thru) and I am so unbelievably sleepy I can't hardly stand it. I tried eating some raw carrot sticks to see if that would help, but all I want to do is curl up in bed and NAP. Of course hubby is working late and the kids want to have a pillow fight. UGH!! Need sleepy...:faint:

Well phooey! ;) I enjoy it. It's fun music, generally. Except for the goofy Red Shoes (or whatever it's called) song that's meant to be a tear jerker.

It's really the only time I listen to Detroit radio.

I did the same thing...obviously my station doesn't base their play list decisions on my opinion :confused3 because they started before before Halloween!

I don't know what the name of that song is, but I WILL NOT LISTEN TO IT! EVER!

My Mom was on an astrology kick for a while and it was actually kind of funny how much our "signs" described us. I'm a Scorpio with an evil streak. My older sister and mom are both indecisive Geminis... I can't think of the connection between the others, but it's really kind of funny.

As far as room location goes, I've heard they have an "rooms ready" policy, which means they'll give you whichever room is ready at the time. I know they do block off rooms the day before or something though, so I'm not sure how often they put you in whichever room in your category is available at the moment. They might wait until the room you're assigned comes open... I know some people recommend getting there before check-in time, because then they'll give you the best room possible whenever it opens, but I don't know how true that is...
I know it also has something to do with the fact that not all rooms turn over every day. Therefore, it's possible that the day you checked the people who were checking out were in the most inconvenient rooms.
That would be my rotten luck! So funny my mom was a Gemini also. Plus she really was a twin. Sagittarius here!

Welcome!:wizard:
If any of the stations here are playing Christmas music, I haven't heard it!! Last year it started too early for me and I love Christmas music. I like to start around Thanksgiving - we usually put up our tree the week of, and then light it the day after, along with the house lights. This year, we only got the lights up on a tree outside before we got hit with the cold. So DH will be on the roof - maybe Sunday - hopefully it won't be too bad out! I'll have to check the forecast. It's wet and cold and windy tonight and is maybe going to get up to 39 tomorrow! oh boy.
This year I got an iPod for my b-day and have loaded a bunch of Christmas music on it so I can listen at work, in the car...sometimes the radio stations play the same 20 songs over and over. At least on the ipod I'll have my favorites!:santa:

It's called Christmas Shoes I believe and OH MY does it make you cry...I can't drive and listen to that song at the same time!!!

Anyways DIS just posted this offer that applies to me: Florida Residents who purchase an annual pass before December 31, 2008 will receive one complimentary admission to one Disney Water Park. The Water Park admission is valid through March 7, 2009

However, I am not...I repeat am not going to a water park in January!!! I am a Southern Weather Pansy..I'm not even going to be packing a swim suit this trip LOL!!

Not even for a hot tub? :) We, being Northern hardy types, will be in the pool if it's above 60 degrees! If we were going to be there at the same time, you could wave and laugh at us! LOL

I can't stand that Shoes song anymore. I thought it was sweet at first, but now I'm just so sick of it! I think they even made a TV movie out of it! Blech!

Nope, it was 60 some degrees the other day and I had on long sleeves and my jacket. I wore my really nice top the other day to church and because they still had the air conditioner all people got to see was my new coat..LOL!! So no swim suit for me....I have no desire to swim when it will be freezing outside. Like I had commented on earlier...I'll be the goofy one wearing a scarf and mittens while all you from the North will be walking around in tank tops and shorts!!

I just chuckle at all the talk of packing away summer clothes for the trip because I'm like well no worries about that I'll be packing my normal clothes plus some layers LOL!!!

I don't know what the name of that song is, but I WILL NOT LISTEN TO IT! EVER!

I caught myself listening to it once and I started tearing up. And then I went "what the HECK am I doing?" and changed the channel.

waaaaaaait. didn't you move from Alaska? How's THAT work!! ;)

No Christmas music here yet.

I am usually a sucker for those tear-jerker songs but the Red Shoes one just doesn't do it for me. Well, maybe the VERY FIRST time I heard it......but then they started playing it every single hour......overkill!!

:welcome: to the Snowbirds! You'll love it here! We're one big happy family.

Shelly- Congrats on 6000 posts! That's amazing! :cheer2:

Well, I've had a pretty good day. We all went out to breakfast this morning and it was so yummy. Then, my DH had to study for his huge accounting exam tonight, so me and our DD played some Bingo and Littlest Pet Shop Guess Who. She beat me pretty bad! We mostly just hung out and relaxed. We ran to Target and Walmart for a bit once my DH went to grad school. I'm trying to find the best deal on a Christmas tree. This is our first Christmas in our house and we always just had a little 3ft tree in our apt. We now need a bigger one!

We then went over to my parents house and had dinner with my mom. My dad had a school board meeting and my DH wasn't home, so it was very nice. It's good to be back home on this very cold day though. I'll probably make myself some hot chocolate in a bit even though I had a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks!

Meghan... my MIL bought a tree at Kmart last year... it was a Martha Stewart one.... it was beautiful.... you might want to take a look there...

Another busy day for me Snowbirds.... first appointment is at 8 am.... will be back later....

Jen.... you are so funny.... 60 degrees would be a heat wave here now....our high is supposed to be 47... and they are saying what a nice day it is going to be..... yesterday it was 37 degrees.....

It's called acclimation LOL!!! I went from running around in shorts when it hit 32 degrees in February in Alaska to sweaters and gloves when it gets down to 60 degrees in October. I know I'm a shame LOL!!!

There's a station here already playing Christmas music, and of course, it's playing in all the stores!!

It's so fun to decorate your first house! I remember doing that. We'll put our stuff up either the week before Thanksgiving or the Friday after (of course, if it's the Friday after, it'll have to wait until I take a nap, since I'm out shopping at 4:00!).

:lmao: You are SO funny! We'll be swimming and wearing shorts & t-shirts if it's 60!! Having grown up with "lake-effect" snow, anything over 60 is WARM!! I still haven't pulled out the winter coat yet - high was only 40 yesterday. :rotfl:
