OMG!! I forgot to tell you guys what my DH did the other day!!

Let me start by telling you about Jack. Jack is my DH's co-worker. Jack is a Disney fanatic! DH never really knew Jack that well (they have over 200 employees), but he had heard that Jack loved WDW and goes 2-3 times a year. So I told DH to strike up a conversation with Jack about WDW. And he did a few months before our May trip. Jack told DH that he and his wife (their kids are grown) were thinking about taking a short trip in May. Well what do you know, Jack ends up going the same time as us. We arrived a few days prior to him. He called us when they arrived. We met up for lunch at AK and had the best time. We talked Disney for about an hour or so. The kids loved him and now call him "uncle Jack"!

So from time to time DH and Jack talk Disney at work now. And from time to time the kids still talk about "uncle Jack" at home!

So DH comes home from work the other day and proudly and excitedly exclaims - "Jack's going to Disney the same time as us!!!!!" I looked at him from across the room like this --> I am thinking - what is he doing??? has he forgotten it is a surprise??? has he lost his mind??? DS9 is looking at me strange. . . So I quickly say - How does Jack know when we are going next when we don't even know?????? DH then realized what he had done and quickly said - um well he wants to go again in a few years when we go!

I will be there on Friday the 23rd. Probably all morning. We usually only stay at AK for about 3-4 hours tops. Maybe we could meet up for an EE ride!!

I swear I am never going to make our trip a surprise again!!! I am missing all the talking about it and planning with the kids!

Last night we were watching our Disney ride DVD (walks you through the rides - got in online - pretty cool). We watch it from time to time. All the sudden DS9 gets up and leaves and I ask him where he's going and he says "this makes me too sad - I want to go to Disney sooner than 2 years!" It was all I could do to not tell his sad little face - Don't be sad - we'll be there in 3 months!!! But I didn't. As much as I wanted to!!

Oh please, Christmas come fast!!!

Maybe you should tell them on Halloween instead! I never thought about how hard it would be not to be able to plan with them, I had only thought about how hard it would be for me to keep my mouth shut!

You don't want them to have sad feelings about Disney! That just broke my heart.

I know, it broke my heart, but I stayed strong and didn't tell him! I have been letting on lately that if they keep their grades up we will hopefully get to go late 2009 or early 2010, instead of late 2010!

Keeping Disney a secret is tough. Our last two January trips, Santa brought the news on Christmas day. Shortly after this years trip, our four year old said with the pure innocence of a child "Mommy, I love that Santa gives us trips to Disney, but why don't you and Daddy give us one sometime? We'll still love Santa if you want to give us one too!"

Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy are giving the kids the trip in 2009.

My DS on the other hand is not a fan...never has been. In fact when he was almost 3 and we were there (I was pregnant with DD at the time and very tired ) I asked him to sit with me for a few minutes while I rested, and of course he happily did so..Well there we are sitting in the middle of the BEST PLACE ON EARTH and this sweet little face looks up at me and says................"Mom, can we go home now, I have had enough of this and am very bored"

When I announced this trip, he let me know he wasn't interested...LOL

Wow I can't believe your DS didn't like WDW!! Did you ever take him back when he was a little older? My boys do get tired and cranky at the parks and usually by shortly after lunchtime they are asking "when can we go back to the hotel???" They've never asked to go home though!

I know girl, my kids are begging! They think it's for Oct of 09--so it's not completely untruthful--I didn't say def. I said between now and then! My oldest kid is about to be 13 and everytime a movie comes on witht he castle he tears up-dh thinks we are a little overboard, but it makes us happy!! Just think how happy they'll be when you tell 'em--don't cave in now!!!

I know how you feel! Whenever our DD sees the castle (before a movie, etc) she begs to go to Disney. We told her maybe after 2nd grade (she's in 1st grade right now). She sighs, but then says that she'll have lots of money saved up by then! At least you're telling your kiddos on Christmas! I have to wait a whole month AFTER Christmas!

me too!! my plan is this--get through the holidays, take down decor, & get back in the school routine. We'll do 3 weeks of school and that Thursday I will get them to kinda double up so we don't have school on Friday. Then we'll tell them when all their school is done!! That way they have all day Friday to help me finish packing and picking up!!! We did this last year and it was a blast!!!!

Tomorrow is my Georgia Kate's 3rd birthday!!! She's my baby and I can't believe she's 3 already! Where does the time go?

Scot is baking ice cream cone cupcakes and we're just doing a family thing tomorrow. I think we'll have a picnic for Georgia over the weekend sometime with friends.

She is such a stinker. What did we do without her?

We don't really plan on telling her as of now. She's one smart cookie, so I'm sure she'll figure it out. We have to catch our connecting flight at JFK, so she might be a little confused. Right now, we just plan on waking her up super early (8am flight) and telling her we have to go to the airport and go somewhere. I promise to buy a video camera by then so I can tape the whole thing!

My dh does something stupid like that every year. Isn't it amazing how fast we can cover up those slips!!! I nearly die every year as we get closer to time--he just can't keep it quiet!!!

Hey, my peeps! Wassup?

I have decided on where I want to stay at Pop! I think we're going to request 2, 3, or 4 floor in the 70s building 10 (or 0...I've seen it written both ways) in a connecting room (a necessity for us since we'll have kids in both rooms...anyone know if that request is usually honored?) as close to the playground and the classic hall as possible. I like the themeing of the 70s buildings. I like the 50s too, but I think the kids will enjoy the 70s more. I started a file on the hotel, including the contact info, etc.

What's new with all of you?

I am pretty sure if all your children are under a certain age (17?) that you are guaranteed a connecting room. You need to call and make sure-if someone on here can't verify it. But, you should be fine. I know you are gonna have such a good time and be so happy to get back over here!!! I am so happy fory you!!! Sorry you are having to deal with THE LANDLADY!!

I just love reading about surprising kids! It makes me know that this agony is so worth it. I would LOVE to be able to sit down and make plans with my DD, but it's not like this is the only trip to Disney we'll ever take. Yeah right! I did show her those cool overhead maps though. She loves looking at Google Earth with me, so it's nothing out of the ordinary to her. She loved looking at the castle from up above. Those maps are super cool!

I haven't completely decided if I will do EE! I used to love roller coasters when I was a teenager. My DH and I went to Canada's Wonderland a few years ago (after having babies) and for whatever reason - I couldn't handle them! I am really wanting to have the full experience so I think I will give it a try!

OMG!! I forgot to tell you guys what my DH did the other day!!

Let me start by telling you about Jack. Jack is my DH's co-worker. Jack is a Disney fanatic! DH never really knew Jack that well (they have over 200 employees), but he had heard that Jack loved WDW and goes 2-3 times a year. So I told DH to strike up a conversation with Jack about WDW. And he did a few months before our May trip. Jack told DH that he and his wife (their kids are grown) were thinking about taking a short trip in May. Well what do you know, Jack ends up going the same time as us. We arrived a few days prior to him. He called us when they arrived. We met up for lunch at AK and had the best time. We talked Disney for about an hour or so. The kids loved him and now call him "uncle Jack"!

So from time to time DH and Jack talk Disney at work now. And from time to time the kids still talk about "uncle Jack" at home!

So DH comes home from work the other day and proudly and excitedly exclaims - "Jack's going to Disney the same time as us!!!!!" I looked at him from across the room like this --> I am thinking - what is he doing??? has he forgotten it is a surprise??? has he lost his mind??? DS9 is looking at me strange. . . So I quickly say - How does Jack know when we are going next when we don't even know?????? DH then realized what he had done and quickly said - um well he wants to go again in a few years when we go!

WOW that was a close one!!!

Yikes!

Oooohhh...riding EE with friends would be fun! You can listen to me laugh/scream the whole way!

I'll be there screaming with you! Maybe a little bit of crying too! Hopefully no spewing!

MEN!! And they say that WE can't keep our mouths shut! (oh wait . . . maybe that's just me) Glad you were able to cover for him!

Hi Snowbirds! Long time, no post! Life keeps getting in the way of my posting time, not to mention my trip planning!!! Anyway, I'm so excited to see my ticker this morning. 3 more months to go!!!! I've been training for the marathon (my first full marathon) and my hubby keeps encouraging me by talking about the Mickey medal I'll get for finishing. Some days I just want to quit but so far, so good. I have a 1/2 marathon this Sunday in Long Beach so that should be fun.

My DH is also excited by the Mickey medal and the idea of running through all of the parks. It's so great to see him, every once in awhile, look at the race route and go "Cooooooool" as he figures out where he gets to run. He likes Disney more than he admits, I think (but not as much as I do. We're okay with that. I go with a friend occasionally and DH and I go occasionally!).

LOL Shawna, no he's not adopted, but there have been times we've wondered Seriously he's a good kid, just not a disney fan. He doesn't have to go with us anymore cause he's 21 now and will baby sit the cats Hopefully he won't marry a disney nut, well maybe he should and I'll take her to Disney
