January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part II !!!

I asked a couple of the Cast Members working this tour regarding a free trip. They said nothing about it....just that the invitation that they were giving away was to register for the Birthday celebration (which I had done already at home). The invitation reads, "Visit DisneyParksCelebration.com and enter this Balloon Invitation Gift Code for a free digital gift." So....based on this, all I could possibly win from the special code would be a laptop, digital camera, or another HP product. So apparently anyone can win the trips...just based on the sweepstakes.

It was a fun day out of work..I worked in a Male Prison....but I a non-Disney dork went along with me for the ride. I think she thought I was completely nuts, but she did also take a balloon and invitation. Wouldn't that be terrible if she won the gift and I didn't..? BUT, I have a trip planned and she doesn't All is good in Wisconsin. I will let you all know if I win anything.

Do all you Southwest people get refunded the difference in price, or does SW keep it as a credit on your account for another trip?

I think you may be able to do it either way. I have credit on my account for another trip. I am happy about that because DH and I are planning a winter get-away in Feb or March. Maybe a cruise?

I LOVE Photopass!! It is amazing. Some of my favorite pictures are from them.

Anyone even questioning whether or not to do it, just do it! lol.

We always do the photopass option whenever we can then when we get home we look through the pictures and see if its worth it for us or not. Usually we end up doing it.

We have this perfect picture of our group in front of the castle...I'll post a picture in a few minutes.

Anywho..must run to the store quick.

Wow. I see there are lots of SW fans here. I've never flown SW but my DH hates it. He adores Jet Blue, so that's what we're flying this time. I've never flown JB either, but I'll admit, I'm looking foward to it! Well, kinda. I do NOT like to fly at all! I have to put on a brave face though for my DD. I do like the idea of tv's at every seat though and no bag fees. Plus, I will still get a snack! I don't know about anyone else, but I just LOVE airline peanuts. They are just so delicious.

Pinkdiamond,Jenjolt,& Meghan I know that Shelley & a few others already have full photopasses set up. I wouldn't mind finding out more about them & doing a share maybe. I will be blunt I don't understand how the sharing thing works but maybe we can figure it out together. Let me know if anyone wants to explore this further.

Ok. I'm a little mad right now. I just checked the Disney website to see if anything besides the Hall of Presidents is going to be closed while I'm there. Well, it looks like we won't be seeing Mickey's PhilharMagic! It will be closed Jan 18-31st! 2 yrs ago, my DD wouldn't even put on the glasses, so she has never experienced this show. I loved it!

Also, just to let everyone else know, Dumbo will be closed Jan 7th and Splash Mtn will be closed Jan 4-17th.

WOW!!! At least I worked in Magic Kingdom a few times into my trip!! I'm going the first time on the 16th so I will make sure to see Philharmagic and I'm going again on the 19th so I will ride Splash Mountain then..make sure I fit it in before or after the fireworks and parade. I'm doing the KTTK tour that morning and I will probably try to grab a fast pass here and there or at least one for Splash Mountain before I leave for my afternoon break LOL!!

Meghan may I ask where you find this information on the Disney site at??

DARN!! I just loooove the PhilharMagic. It's one of the special things we look forward to. Does anyone know why they are closing it? Is it rehab or what? I can't believe it. My kids are already talking about it--even tho they aren't sure when they are going--they are looking forward to that!!

I was really really really looking forward to the Mickey's PhilharMagic - I can't tell you all how many times I've read that this was a favorite! Just for that, I'll have to make a second trip!

NO!!!! I'm going to miss Splash Mountain! I lucked out on PhillharMagic though; I'll be there before it closes. Well, I'm not sure how I felt about getting wet in January in Magic Kingdom anyway.

If you go to disneyworld.com click on calendar at the top right. It will take you to the current month's hours of operation. There is a little pull down menu of months to choose from. Scroll down and it shows that months refurbs. You can look at all of the parks including the water parks.

All of the attractions I listed just say refurb. No explanations. I keep hearing about Space Mtn being closed for all of 2009, but nothing on the Disney site.

Jen - I soooo want to do the KTTK tour someday! My dad went earlier this year and said it was very cool. I don't know when I'll get a chance to do it because my DH doesn't want to go to WDW without our daughter EVER! I think it would be fun for just the 2 of us to go, but he doesn't. I will have to try and change his mind.

Have you thought about putting your DD in one of the daycare places for the morning? It's only about 5 hours, and so worth it! Then you can have some Mommy & Daddy time!

I would love for the price of my flights to go down, but that won't happen. We got very reasonable airfare ($99/person per way) on Jet Blue. Not bad at all.

Well I will make it down in time to see PhilharMagic before it closes...it's one of our favorites. I'll have to see it double on the Jan 17. I really hope Space Mountain closes after I'm there (if it is closing) it's my favorite ride at Disney. I like it even more than ToT and RnRC.
