sarbah, Southwest flies out of both Providence (TF Green) for those south of Boston, or Manchester NH for those north. Perhaps your folks would do better going out of one of those airports?

D prefers to fly JetBlue, so we're stuck with Logan.

I got our SW flights this morning and did OK - about $277 pp RT for the 3 of us. Of course, I am seeing all of the $87 - $95 Dings that are coming through for flights in the fall, and will keep my fingers crossed for something better closer to January.

Okay, now I'm super-overjoyed that I got $156 r/t pp out of Detroit. Of course, I bought them at the beginning of June! And I love my flight times!

I had looked at Amtrak months ago but it would take me 3 nights and 4 days to get there. :) The auto train from VA looks pretty cool though.

Trains do have such a romanticism to them - at least they seem to be romantic in all the old movies I watch. But I looked at Amtrak from Memphis to Orlando -- I'd have to go to Chicago then to Washington, DC then to Orlando - a whopping 45 hours! Just to get there! And that doesn't include 16 hours of layovers - whew! :scared1: Driving from Memphis to Orlando only takes roughly 14 hours.

Coming back would take another 47 hours, not including layovers! Too much romance for me....

Maybe I should take back all those things I've said about Northwest

We finally got on the DDP today :cool1: :cool1:
I booked more reservations and changed some times of others:

7pm GF 1900 Park Fare

1/12 monday

Now hoping for these for the last two days:

Would have liked to hit LeCellier but we probably won't make it to Epcot this trip :(

BTW did anyone find out if the Pirate and Princess party is in January???

Boy I missed you all!:goodvibes We just got back from our mini-vacation and work retreat which was held in Petra, Jordan. I've got a lot to catch up on, but I'm happy to be back!

We had a wonderful time vacationing for 3 days in Aqaba right on the shore of the Red Sea. We did nothing but eat, sleep, and swim! It was a much needed break from the daily grind of work in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Then we had the opportunity to conference with other foreign workers from all around the Middle East. We meet once a year in Petra with this same group and it's always such a relaxing time for us and our kids.

As always, though, it's great to be back...aside from the mountain of laundry!:laundy: Wish I could wave my magic wand and have the laundry washed, dried, folded and put away!pixiedust:

So, I'm waving to you all! Hope you are having a wonderful sleep and wake up refreshed in the morning! Is it possible that it's already time to be thinking of back to school stuff?????

Hi Snykymom-

My parents actually got flights on Delta from Logan for about $200, which they figured was pretty awesome. (They're going to watch my husband run a marathon! Something his folks have never bothered to do, despite us inviting them time and time again)

The $350 I referred to was from DTW to BOS, however. :(

Goodmoring everyone! I just wanted to thank all of those who prayed for my Grandpa. He made it through the surgery and is doing great.:yay: I wish you guys could meet him. He is exactly how you would imagine an ole' southern farmer. Tough as a boot! He is in his mid-seventies and has terminal colon cancer. In the past three years, he's many through more surgeries than I can count (including a triple bi-pass.) He parks his tractor outside of his bedroom for inspiration when he gets home from the hospital and has continued farming despite his circumstances. (Seriously! He will probably be riding again next week!) I just think he's amazing and wanted to brag on him for a moment.:goodvibes

So glad to hear everything went well with your Grandpa! It sounds like you really treasure the time that you've had with him and will continue to do so. :goodvibes

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Great news about your Grandpa Bellasoleil! I was thinking about him this morning when I was doing my morning prayers. I'm so glad everything went well with the surgery!

I will get everyone's ADR lists updated! :thumbsup2

So what are all the Snowbirds up to today?

Well, today I've been up to my eyeballs in laundry and e-mails. I also need to make a few phone calls, but I've been avoiding that. :scared:

Just settling back into the routine and trying to figure out when I need to go buy school books for my kids! I kept the information paper for 3 months and then one day it was no longer on the fridge. I suspect my youngest. one of her favorite hobbies is throwing things away.

Hi Shelly-What are we up to today? Hopefullly not much! I balanced my checkbook last night during the Olympics so today it's bill-paying time. There's a storm coming in right now, which makes things exciting for us because DD6 does not like storms! Yesterday was a crazy day for us, lots of running around and I now have much shorter and blonder hair. :rolleyes1

Yes I can't believe it's almost time for the kids to go back to school. :sad2:
The kids got their teacher assignments in the mail last weekend. We had our first PTO meeting yesterday. DS6 got a letter in the mail from his new teacher yesterday. Open House at the school is Tuesday night and orientation is Thursday morning. Then it's back to school Sept. 2nd.

The good news is that time will probably start to fly once school starts and soon it will be January!! :yay:

Boy, I don't believe I've ever looked forward to January before!! :rotfl:

Peach3es, I think your youngest should pop over to my place and throw some stuff away. I'm terrible at it!!!

It's 12.34am here in Australia, and I should be in bed, but instead I'm watching the Olympics. Some Aussie dude just won the pole vaulting. Yay!

Saturday tomorrow... I plan to sleep in, do some scrapbooking, and go for a swim. Nice!! :)

Hello! :goodvibes Not much going on around here today. I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and that's about it. We are meeting some friends in the city tomorrow (Pittsburgh), going to Carnegie Science Center and Station Square. Should be fun!

How much hair did you get cut off??? I had 12 inches cut off in April. I still feel bald! :rotfl:

Hope the storm is not too bad. We have had such nice weather here this week. I keep thinking we are about due for a bad storm. Hopefully it's not tomorrow!

I've loved the Olympics, so inspiring...but I keep dreaming about Michael Phelps :ssst: ...is that wrong? And to make this all Disney related, DDs are watching Lion King right now.
