Oh, I guess I should answer my own question.

My favorite ride ever is Peter Pan's Flight... Soarin is an extremely close second.:woohoo:

Good morning Snowbirds.

I am very sad today. :sad2: The kids just left for school about a half-hour ago. DS6 is going all day for the first time. He had half-day kindergarten last year.

Stupid first grade!! :rotfl:

 I cried like a baby when DS went for his first full day - it just seems so "grown up". I'm sure yours is already handling it just fine. The teachers really know how to keep them busy and relaxed over the course of the day, so it's really not too much pressure.

I've seen it happen so many times - that first one goes off to school, Mommy gets a little sad, next thing you know - "let's have another one." Maybe a cozy January trip will help things along. ;) We could we welcoming Snowbird babies around September 2009 :cool1:

Jan 20 - Whispering Canyon Cafe breakfast

Phew!! :thumbsup2

(There's some CS meals in there missing, and we're doing in-room dining one morning, but I doubt we'll run into anybody while having in-room dining! That would be a little odd.)

Sharadoc,

How funny that you mention that. We just walked DD7 up to school this morning for second grade. (Shelly- First grade goes by so fast and he'll be an old pro soon at staying all day.) Anyways, walking home with DD4 I said I can't believe next year we will be walking home alone :scared1: And my DH said, oh I am sure you will be begging to have another baby by then!!! Not going to happen, but it is tempting. I have an IUD so we could I guess but he just started back to school full time so money is going to be tight!

as for the QOTD-
I love POTC. for thrillers, I love RnR too!!

Have a great day!!

Amanda

Shelly I know how you feel. My 4 1/2 yr old is starting preschool tomorrow and is taking a bus:sad2: She is so excited she is counting the hours.

It is only a half day, but the thought of putting my baby on a bus makes me:scared1:

As far as my favorite ride.....hmmm Peter Pan's Flight is my sentimental favorite. My favorite thrill ride is Rockin Roller Coaster

 I cried like a baby when DS went for his first full day - it just seems so "grown up". I'm sure yours is already handling it just fine. The teachers really know how to keep them busy and relaxed over the course of the day, so it's really not too much pressure.

Thanks for the support Snowbirds! :grouphug: I'm sure our babies will be just fine. And we'll make it though. . . eventually. :rotfl: I guess it's just part of life, I'm just not ready for it!! :sad2:

I've actually been considering this.....:ssst:

The only thing is, we want to take Belle on her first trip in September and I don't think I want to give birth in Orlando.

Hey, there, Snowbirds! It's supper time and I should be feeding my children. But, here I am!:rotfl:

Favorite ride? Hmmm...well, since the only time I was to Disney was in 1991, I have no idea what my new favorite would be. Favorite from that trip? The Great Movie Ride.

But I am a serious roller coaster junkie. We grew up next to an amusement park, Knoebels, and since it was free parking and free admission, we would go down and just ride the Phoenix, one of the top 10 wooden coasters in the country, over and over again!

I think I'm going to love RnR Coaster!

I also loved Peter Pan's Flight. And Space Mountain. And The Haunted Mansion. Pretty much everything!:cheer2:

Now, to feed my children and take down the laundry. Why does it feel like that is all I do everyday? Cook and laundry???:laundy:

Shelly- I'm kind of scattered in my board reading today. DD is in daycare here at the church and I cried like a baby when she promoted out of her infant class into the toddler class. I know she's not in Kindergarten yet, but it is happy/sad watching them grow.

AussieAngel- I have a feeling we are both going to be sick of eating by the time our trip is done!

Peaches- Girl, I know the feeling and I've only got one baby to feed! We've been at my mom's since Friday and it's been such a nice break. Today I head home and reality sets back in. :sad2:

Shelly, I am totally with you! My younger son started kindergarten today. Full day, 5 days a week. (interesting side note: the school week here is Monday-Thursday and Saturday!:sad2: ) I cried. He didn't. :lmao: My youngest is in preschool, but it's just a few days a week. I know, when I send her to kindergarten, I'll be a basket case!

Of course, I also enjoy the peace and quiet in the house, at least a little!:rolleyes1

Morning everyone! I should be going to class, but I thought I'd post here first.
Bella-I'm glad the storm isn't hitting you too hard! Try and send some rain to Indy, it's dry as a bone here!
I'm sorry to hear everyone's babies are growing up. I don't have any yet, but today I wish I was in elementary school. Graduate fees just cost too much money. :sad2:
Anyway here is my answer to the QOTD-
Splash Mountain, it's not WDW until I have see brear rabbit!
When I was little it would have been Journey into Imagination, but they destroyed it, so I don't like it any more. :sad1:
Anyway I better go to my GIS and Population ecology classes. Oh joy!

Goodmorning to all og my lovely Dis friends! Well, Gustav has been ripping and roaring (I use those terms lightly) through my parts since early this morning. It is just so yucky out! All we are getting is heavy winds and drizzley rain. (Just enough to totally ruin and good hair day!) I'm so thankful that it wasn't nearly as bad as people thought and I am so proud of my state and it's leaders for the way things were handled this go round. I hope and pray that everyone south of me is doing well.

And now on to Disney talk.... let's have a question of the day.....

What is your ULTIMATE, FAVORITE, MUST-DO RIDE at Disney World?

Glad to hear you are safe and sound! What a relief for you!
QOTD:
Well its been a very long time since I've been to WDW but when I was it was a toss up between space mountain and tower of terror. Looking forward to riding Soarin this time though ;)

Ugh today is a day for me to sleep on the couch...I'm sick! Summer colds are the worst. But I can't relax on the couch because dd has cheer/tumbling and gymnastics today. 12 and 430. I don't know why i do this to myself. I sign them up for all these classes and then run ragged all week...gets to be a little much :( I also have to run to my AAA office to pick up my updated reservation switch to GF. Still have not told dh about that yet :rotfl2:
Have a good day everyone.
My dd starts pre-k tomorrow. I was sad when she started last year but she loves the school so much I'm excited for her to go back. HUGS :goodvibes to all of you who have children starting today...I'll be in that boat next year!

A question I just thought of . . . we are going to be ordering from WeGoShop.com for the first time for this trip.

How early should I contact them about placing an order?

I'm not sure about this Mindy. We have never done it. I know some people who ordered from Garden Grocer (I think that's the name) and they were happy with it!

What I usually do is fill one suitcase with food and snacks. Cereal bars, granola bars, bottled water, capri-sun, etc. That way we have an empty suitcase to bring home our souvenirs in!

I guess it's just part of life, I'm just not ready for it!!
Just wait until you drive away after moving them into their college dorms! Did that this weekend for D's second year - it does go very fast!

QOTD -
For me, it would have to be Space Mountain - sentimental favorite. For d, it's RnRCoaster. Haven't done TSM yet, though, or the new POTC. We'll see!

So here's a funny little story ~ Our local candy store is having a contest where kids can apply to be in their new advertisements and commercials. The winner gets a trip for 4 to Disney World!! So I was telling my kids about this yesterday. Most kids would just be excited at the prospect of winning a trip to Disney World, right??? My kids start asking - WHAT RESORT? A VALUE OR MODERATE? THEY WOULDN'T GIVE AWAY A DELUXE, WOULD THEY??? HOW LONG IS THE TRIP? DOES IT INCLUDE THE DINING PLAN??? :lmao: :rotfl2:

It was pretty funny! :rotfl: DH and I just looked at each other and laughed!! I guess we have spoiled them!!

:guilty: Count me in too on the sad train. DD started 4th grade & DS started first today.

Bellasoliel where in LA do you live? I have a niece who lives in Hammond & she says the have no power. She couldn't evecuate because she is a nurse & hubby is police officer. We are sending her down a "care package" of stuff my kids think that "their Joy" needs. I am sending candles heaven only knows what those to will want to send.

QOTD absolute favorite ride Haunted Mansion!!! I had a record album of that ride that Disney put out when I was a kid. One side was called A Night In The Haunted Mansion & the otherside was Trick or Treat w Donald & his nephews. I wore it out!:rotfl:

I don't have any suggestions but I may take some of yours :rotfl:
My kids will be 5 and 3 (almost 4) when we drive down. Our garmin says 16 hours and yahoo driving says almost 18 :scared1: Probably will be somewhere in the middle but honestly we are going to drive as long as possible the first day (barring any weather we are hoping to make it 14 hours and if we really could do 16 to get there we'd probably try to do the whole thing). Lofty goals with two small kids but dh is going to come home from work, load the car, and go to bed. Then we plan to get up at 1ish and get the kids in the car to head out while they are still sleeping and the traffic is much lighter. Then in the morning dh will sleep while I drive. We have a dvd player in the car, we'll bring card games, coloring books, toys, etc. Anything we can think of that will entertain them. We will also have the small potty and food. All I need is to get caught in traffic when one of the kids (namely ds) has to go to the bathroom. We'll need the potty I guarantee it.
How long is your drive?

I think it took us about 16 total from MD. We left around 4am and made it all the way to the Florida border by early evening and stopped to stay overnight. The next morning we only had a few hours left in our drive and made it to WDW by 10am. We're hoping to do the same thing this time but maybe leave a little earlier than 4am this year.

First, I have had great success with wrapping each little item up and giving them at different intervals as a reward for good behavior. For our flight over here we had 3 kids under 5 and it worked well. Every hour I had another little item to give them if they had behaved well during that hour. They all earned all of their rewards.

Other suggestions are mini-etch-a-sketches and mini magnadoodles, matchbox cars, little keychain size stuffed animals (I even see these at the local dollar type stores here!), for a girl over 3, a small Polly Pocket set (I bought the older style ones on ebay for my daughter and she LOVES them!), those "smurf-like" hard rubber figures (for my kids, Dora the Explorere and Diego as well as Power Rangers worked well!), favorite treats wrapped up, etc. The wrapping part made it even more fun. And they were amused with their new item for the hour or so until the next item arrived. It really worekd well, and I'll be using it for our flight back to the US as well as our Disney trip.:thumbsup2 :hippie:

And Good Morning,Snowbirds! Have a great day!

Great suggestions!!! I love the idea of having them wrapped up so it's not all at once and the fun lasts the long ride! :wizard:
