January 2008 Code Watch

Well, I guess Sunday will be the day for 2008 pricing if the ticket prices are going up that same day!

Does anyone think it would be worth it to book a package with a 1 day ticket in order to get dining, and then just buy the other days separately before Sunday to get the old price??

Sooooo excited I hear tomorrows the day the rates are coming out! I can not wait! It's getting closer!!! Yippee....:dance3: :dance3:

The other big changes for 2008 are related to the Dining Plan options:

The price of the regular Dining Plan has been reduced by $1 per person per night, meaning the 2008 plan costs $37.99/adult and $9.99/child per night. However, it no longer includes gratuities or appetizers (but tax is still included). This is effectively a 15%-20% decrease in value. However, the Dining Plan remains a good deal for many people.

A new Deluxe Dining Plan is available for $69.99/adult and $19.99/child per night. With this new plan, each guest receives 3 meals and 2 snacks per night . You can choose from table service or counter service for each meal (so if you can eat that much food, you might as well eat all table service meals). The table service meals include appetizer, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. "Signature Restaurants" still count as 2 table service meals with this plan. You also receive a refillable mug per person, to be used at your resort.

Okay.....so can me and DD (6 yrs) get the regular plan and DH get the deluxe? I usualy don't get an appetizer but DH enjoys one...also.....DH likes a decent size breakfast....slice of toast + a cup of java and I'm on my way. DO you guys think that we could mix plans like that?

Another question ... :worried: .... can you use an adult table service credit to order from the children'd menu? If DH is able to get the deluxe plan (me and DD the regular) I was wondering if we could use any of his left over TS credits for her. He will get 3TSC/day and she will get 1TS/day...so with all of our ADRs we will fall short one or two TS dinners. We were going to pay out of pocket but this may be a better option.

Thanks so much.....any and all help appreciated.
:goodvibes

I'm on the phone right now getting my 2008 info. I'm on hold while the CM checks on something... :woohoo:

I'm on hold too...were you able to book 2008?

Yes. I had a room only and she cancelled it and gave me a package. Yipppeeee! Here are my details:

Here's what I found out for my package. We're at POR for 6 nights, Jan 2-8. For some reason, my room is still at $149 a night. It wasn't affected by the new system. The CM didn't know why and I'm not gonna argue!
My 6 day park ticket (base) was $231 adults, and $192 kids.
The Dining plan was exactly what we thought it would be- no apps, no gratuity for the base plan. You can not break up your household into different plans. You have to use the same one. It's $38 for adults, and $10 for kids.

My package for a standard room at POR with 6 Day Base tix and DDP was $2894. 04

I knew I had a pin attached to my household, so I asked about it and she said she couldn't pull up that info yet. I'm supposed to call back later today.

I hope that helps. My CM was so good. She said I probably got all my info from the same place she's been reading. I said I Dis'ed and she said that's the one she reads. She said after reading what everyone was writing, sometimes you don't want to go into work. Let's be nice to our CMs today! I'm sure they'll be getting an earful from people all day!

thanks home school. i'm on hold waiting to convert my booked rooms into packages for a grand gathering of 20!

subscribing to the code watch

just changed my room res to a package for Jan 13 to 18 - birthday trip at POR :yay:

It looks like those of us going in Value season luck out on one thing....there are no additional fees for weekends. That is probably the reason the room rate is not affected by the new system. :rotfl:

I agree, I was happy to see that. We are going the end of January/DVC and was thinking of adding a day or 2, so now we will do it since there was no measurable increase. Now all I have to do is wait for an AP rate for late January.

I just booked my Jan 2008 package. I cancelled my room only at the WL, std view and booked it with the 7 day hopper and DDP. My room rate did change by $10.00 per night, all nights were the same rate. I am soooo happy that it is finally done! The basic DDP I am not that happy with, but what could we do? I still went with it.

I will be keeping my eyes open for any codes that come out. I hope that there are going to be some good ones! :)

I'm definitely not happy with the new dining plan either, and $70/day just seems like way too much for food for the deluxe plan. It almost makes me want to book a trip in 2007 before the new year arrives.

I know! I also figured that the deluxe would not be worth the extra $$$ for us, so I stuck with the basic. That's too bad they had to take away the appetizers and gratuities. But, I still went with it just because for our family it will still be a good value....just too bad it changed.

Subscribing... Just starting to check things out for a jan 1-6 trip. Have a lot of reading to do- Thanks for all the great info- so far.

hi - if i booked my january package last week, 12/30-1/4, which dining package will i have??????? thanks, wendy

Just booked our January 26th - February 2nd vacation. Staying at Pop Century. Very excited. We did get a discount with AAA for room only. I think it was $75.00 night for a preferred room. Anyone have any thoughts on crowds this week of January??

Now what exactly is meant buy CODES. Is it still possible for us to get a better discount? I am new to all of this.

I know that when codes come out they often have blackout days, does anyone know if MLK weekend will be blacked out for any possible codes for Jan?

Also, if I book a package that has MLK weekend included in my dates, and then try to apply a code later, would the blackout apply to my entire length of stay, or just those days?

I just booked using a AAA discount. We are booked for Jan 11-15 at POR for $119 per night. I figure that to be a 20% discount. I would like to have a better deal of course, but I'm pretty happy with that one. I also wanted POFQ but it was already full....kind of surprised me for Value season when the rates just came out. We will have a great time anyway!
