How pack do you think January 1st will at the parks? I know the 31st will be zoo but hopefully everyone will be too tired to go back on the 1st! A girl can dream. Thanks

Well, I'm dreaming too. :cloud9: My sister and I are going to run over on Jan. 1st and we hope at least the morning will be less crowded. I bet by afternoon it will be crowded. At the very least we hope it will be less traffic to get there.

Alright so I just need to plan to get there super early. I hope we both have a great day in the park! Have fun

We are going to be there Jan 1- 3rd! :cool1: We are driving down from the Bay Area early on the 1st. We just got an awesome Ent Rate at Hojo's for all three nights! What a deal!
My little guy turns 3 on Jan. 4th so we want to go one last time before we have to start paying for him! ;) The rest of us have AP's! :)
I am praying for good weather and decent crowds!

How fun!

Did you register him for "What Will You Celebrate?" so he can get free entrance on 1/4? :goodvibes

I did! But unfortunately we can't go into the parks that day because we need to get home and get ready for work/school the next day.

Well, we are driving down from the North Bay early tomorrow and will stay at my sisters until we go. I wanted to get down there before NYE. I'm just doing my last minute Dis board reading before we go! :rotfl:

Us too! We're driving down tonight and will stay with dh's cousin and her family. Then we will be at the parks the 1st thru the 4th. Can't wait! :yay:

We are leaving Saturday, driving down too. We will be there until the 8th and come home then. We always go in for a few hours the day we head for home, you should take your DS in that day and let him ride a few rides on his birthday. :)

I asked a CM today while we were waiting for the monorail and he said it'll be pretty slow in the morning and will get busier and busier throughout the day. Today it was very crowded, he said over 60,000 people, and NYD will be similar.

We got there just after the gates opened today and it was already busy, but we got on Buzz in 5 minutes, then Pirates in 15 mintues, then Jungle Cruise in about 20, got to "captain" the Mark Twain with very little wait, then it started to feel really crowded (around 11 maybe?) ... although some of the more "remote" areas (ie, where the reindeer are) were not busy at all (ds got to sit with Santa through a whole show, it was very cute). When we left around 1:30 or 2 it was getting too busy for me.

We're going to try to get there early NYD, but we're going to a family party NYE and will probably let the kids stay up with the other kids, so don't know if we'll get out of bed in time the next morning - LOL!

I know we probably should, huh? But my dh likes to get home and unwind before having to go to work the next day. Our last trip was just before Thanksgiving. We drove back to the Bay Area the day before Thanksgiving - I have NEVER seen Int 5 so crowded! I am just afraid there will be a lot of traffic on Jan 4th also because it is the end of the Holiday weekend. :confused3
I can't wait to get my kids up on New Year's Morning and put them in the car! They have no idea!!!

for a good general rule of thumb, leave by 12 or 1 and you'll be home by 9. My BFF and her DBF do this every trip, we tend to leave a bit later, between 2-4, but that's because the girls and I sleep and DBF doesn't have to be to work until after 10 so he can sleep a little later the next day. I think my BFF said they left at 1 on the last trip and they were home by 7. But you might be right about the holiday weekend. What if you took him and just took him shopping with his fun card? OR, take him and get the free admission on a later day voucher, then you can take him later in the year and get him in for free. :)

OH, can you do that? Can you get a single day ticket to use later? How does that work?? I thought you had to go ON your birthday!

If you already have a ticket to use on the day of your birthday, you can get a 1 park/1 day ticket that you can use on another day in 2009. :)

That's what I thought. He won't have a ticket for this trip since he turns 3 on Jan 4th. So when we go into the parks Jan 1st - 3rd he will still be free!:)
So he could go one extra day into the parks for free but we probably won't. When we drove home from DLR on the day before Thanksgiving it took us 9 hours to get to Contra Costa County! Int 5 was crazy and I am afraid it might be bad this weekend as well!

Oh right, I forgot he wouldn't have a ticket. Sorry!!!!! Do you have an AP? Can you take him to shop that day? I don't think traffic will be as bad as you're anticipating. PM me your cell number and I'll report in on traffic on our drive down on Saturday. :) Otherwise I think you're outta luck. :(
