January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

can you let me know the last list count for the fish extenders so i know how many gifts to make up :flower3: we are so excited about the cruise we are almost all :laundy: im so excited about meeting you all:)

I just took a peek at the St. Thomas schedule, and we are scheduled to be anchored in the harbor, which means we will be tendering in to get on the island.....:headache: We are scheduled on a private thing, and I read elsewhere that the Disney excurtions are let off first.....I will have to see if my consierge statis can help with that???? I hope so, we have such little time there as it is.

So I just threw together a spreadsheet for my own reference (things like DIS Tag and fish extenders) and for the heck of it, did some stats on the group (as reported in the first post and Beth's "Bat, Tag, Fish" posts).

Here's what I found:
42 listed groups, totaling at least 181 people!!

For the kids age groups we have:
<3: 8
3-4: 8
5-6: 25
8-9: 11
10-12: 18
13+: 9

All I can say is :scared1:

You know, I told Hannah there would be a lot of kids in her age group at the Sunday meet to get to know - I didn't realize almost her entire age group would be from the DIS boards! :rotfl2:

In 4 days, we'll be heading out to sea!!:cheer2::yay::woohoo:

Thanks Amanda...

We have quite a group!!!

At last count, I had 14 counted for the fish extenders that were participating.

I plan on printing out a sheet for the Tag and Fish to hand out at the meet. I have the tag made..nothing fancy but it sure will get your attention!!!

Awesome, I have made bags of goodies for the fish extenders, this is all soooo much fun so glad im cruisin with AWESOME people :):)

PLENAM-Thanks! I know, I always laugh that one day I could be in -30 weather and then be somewhere 100 degrees warmer! I am so excited. And to see the sun will be wonderful! I wish I could bottle some up and bring it back with me! We do have awesome summers up here, though. 24 hours of daylight, you never sleep! It makes up for the long, dark, cold winters!

Modlin,

I keep looking at the weather for Alaska...my daughter and son in law leave in less then a month for Anchorage...I know it doesn't get as cold there as where you are though....I stocked them up on L L Bean super warm stuff for Christmas..

To everyone who is getting ready to leave..safe travels!!! We leave 6:30 am on Friday...yuck...

If we don't see you at the port somehow, I will see you on Sunday!!

How are we doing the fish extenders? Are doing things for each day, or one goodie bag? I have seen it done both ways. Another post suggested doing them by floor, or drawing days and spreading them out. I am really flexiable and think it will be alot of fun wither way.

I can't belive I fly out in 2 days!!!! We fly out at 6 on Friday so we will be thinking good thoughts for the folks on the east coast with the snow. We just are having lots of really cold weather.

Amy,
I can't speak for anyone else, but I had planned on visiting the fish extenders on the sea days.. We have excursions booked on the other days...JCS179's family made goodie bags..

I guess its however you wanted to do it..seems like the bulk of the rooms are on decks 2 and 6..lol..

I am looking forward to this, its a bit like playing Santa...

Hi there Amy, this is Candice (tinkerbell 1973), me and my littlens made up goody bags we will drop in fish extenders on one day :).......
see you Sunday :)

Amanda, we have a Hannah in our group too! She is 9, how old is yours?

We are supposed to get ice/rain/wintry mix on Thurs. night so I'm praying it doesn't mess with my flights (or the 2 hour drive to ATL) on Friday!!! The weathermen around here are usually wrong when they predict snow anyway so I should be fine :)

Beth, I am with you, I was planning on getting the room numbers and just randomly stopping by with a treat. I hope that will be o.k.

See you all real soon.

Thank you for doing that!!! And they are sorted by deck....AWESOME!!!!:goodvibes

Thank you so much!!

I posted this on the main board but thought yall might be able to help also-- repeat winter cruisers question:

I am a runner and plan on running in the mornings on deck at least on days we are at sea. What temperature will it be in the mornings? I'm not a super early riser so will probably be out around 8 or 9? Will it be cool enough that i need long sleeves, or will shorts and a tank top do it?

Also, for walking around in the evenings, will a cardigan to wear over whatever dress or outfit I had on for dinner be warm enough? I'm cold natured so don't want to be too cold.

Thanks!!

I am not much help, this is our 4th Disney cruise, but the first during the winter. I do know the dining rooms can get chilly. I think only once when it was windy out, did I need something on deck. I do know the decks can get windy, especially on sea days.

It looks like the temps while we are in the Caribbean should be in the low 80's for a high and low 70's for a low. That said, while sailing I would assume a fairly significant wind chill factor as well. We sailed a 4 night last April in the Bahama's and found we needed to bundle up in the evenings on deck.

We are packing so that we can wear either shorts or long pants each day and layer on top as needed.

Jim

It sounds like we are doing a combination of things with the fish extenders. That will keep it exciting and random. It should be so much fun having so many people on two decks....

See ya all Sunday. I am getting ready to go to my last day of work before vacation. We have a busy day tommrow and then we are off on Friday to VACATIONS!!!!!

Amanda, we have a Hannah in our group too! She is 9, how old is yours?

Ours is 5 - born in 2002, when Hannah was the 2nd most popular name of the year! Not that we picked it because it was popular - we thought we were picking something kind of different! :rotfl:
