I am Maureen and DH is Joe this will be our 7th DCL cruise and we are also DVC members.

:welcome: to the cruise! Was in target yesterday and right near all the halloween stuff they were stocking up the christmas stuff and it made me think "wow, this cruise is right around the corner":woohoo:

Hi everyone! I just booked this cruise after getting a kids sail free pin code.
It will be me, DH, DD (9) and DS (5). We are so excited since this will be our first cruise. We are Disney people and we go to WDW every year to escape the Ohio gloom and get our Mickey fix. This year will really be something special!:)

Welcome :goodvibes:goodvibes

My family and I will be joining you guys in Jan. We were originally booked for spring break, but we had to reschedule. Now I don't have to wait as long for my Disney fix:cool1: We are a family of 4 - Me (Michelle), DH (Gary), DD-11, and DD-9.

This will be our 4th DCL cruise. We loved participating in FE exchanges last time. I tried to read through the thread to gauge interest, but it's difficult to follow the first time through. So, I'll just ask. Is there a theme/slogan for this week? I saw mention of Winter Day Castaways ? or Stowaways? Is anyone organizing an FE exchange?

I am so excited to cruise in January! It will be nice and warm ...right???:rolleyes1

Hello Itzol, Looks like we both have a DD-9. I like when the girls have someone their age to look for at the dis-meet. I'm assuming we will have a dis-meet. :confused3 Seems the group is rather small at this point- should be easy to remember names:rolleyes1

I would love to do an FE - but since I am such a newbie (just learned what a fish extender was!) I don't know how much good I'd be at organizing the thing.

I can't tell exactly how many people are on this thread...who is in for a FE ???

Also, how does the whole thing work?:confused3 Do we exchange every day? Do I make the FE have pockets for each day or each person? Very frustrating being a newbie!

My DD will be so thrilled to hear that we already "know" another 9 year old girl on the cruise! Although, honestly, I think I am the most excited one in the family. I swear I am on these boards every day!!

The family traveling with us has twin 9 y/o's. Boy and a girl. I'm sure they'll be seeing each other at the kids clubs! Mine are DD7 and DS14. They don't even know we are going yet. I only have to keep it secret for another 71 days (Christmas):rolleyes1. I've done it for almost a year now, but lately I feel myself wanting to blurt it out!;)

We are not planning to tell our girls until Christmas either. Not sure how realistic that is if I'm sitting around making FE gifts. I guess I could lead them to believe we are making Christmas presents ??? :santa:

I am willing to "organize" the FE list if there is interest. Everyone can PM me with their "vital statistics".

Please include:
Name
Room number
Ages of kids in party
Gender of children -hard to know by name alone

As I have never actually "organized" anything significant for our cruises, please allow me a little room for error. This is all for fun anyway...right ?:thumbsup2

Itzol you will need more posts on the disboards before you are allowed to PM, so don't be shy... Just post away...
You will want to make a fish extender to hang on the fish outside of your stateroom. There are many different designs, but most have a pocket for each family member. Some folks give small gifts (candy) every day, some folks make elaborate items and leave 1 per stateroom. In the past we fell somewhere in between. For the kids we may have little items to pass out on different days, but for the adults we made one gift each. Keep in mind you do not want to spend your entire cruise trying to find other cruisers staterooms. We (my DH and I) broke up the list last time and delivered to a couple of rooms each night.

I'm so excited about this cruise:cool1:

Wow, less than 3 months to go! Can't wait!!!! Judging by how COLD it is here in MA........January (&winter) is right around the corner! It'll be here before we know it

It's miserable here in Ohio too - I am spending my time dreaming of the cruise and trying not to look out the window!

My kids know about the cruise - and I told my daughter yesterday about all the 9 year olds that will be on the boat and she's beyond excited! She spent some time on line just watching the videos on the disney cruise site.

Do you all know what excursions you are going to do on the islands? I know that we want to snorkel on one and explore a beach on the other and then just enjoy Castaway's uniqueness. I am leaning towards the Dubloon Cruise and going with Bernard's tour on St. Martin.

We are thinking about doing Joyce Prince's tour in St. Marteen. St Thomas we really want to get over to St John I have been looking at some private charters but they are expensive and I am really concerned about the timeframe wish we had more time in St Thomas

We were in St. Thomas last year and we did a tour with Sonny Liston (I think that is his last name) had a great tour and lots of fun with Sonny If anyone has ever been to St Thomas his is the tour that the people on the streets turn and look because he has everyone on the tour bus singing loud!! Lots of fun!!

Already booked Bernard for St Maarten. Used him last year & had a blast!!!:thumbsup2 I am DETERMINED to get to St John this year! Usually wouldn't do the excursion thing, but because of the time restraint & traveling to another island, I think we're going to do the Trunk Bay Snorkel. Dont really care if we snorkel, but it seems like the easiest & "safest" way to see St John. I'm extremely paranoid aboutt the ship leaving w/o us!

Did everyone (CC members) get what they wanted in ressies last night?! :goodvibes

I stayed up til midnight (it was NOT easy) LOL!! Booked Palo Brunch first and did not get the exact time I wanted but got a half hour later - that'll do!! We got Palo Dinner and this time I went ahead and booked tea too...SOOOO excited now that we are within 90 days!! :cool1:

Now the REAL fun starts! LOL! Also booked my cabana massage (never done this before) and parasailing...another first for us!!

I hope everyone was sprinkled with pixie dust last night!! :wizard:

Reading your post about ressies got me excited - but nervous!! Since I haven't cruised before I am concerned about getting the excursions and Palo reservations that I want but I have to wait. Oh well - for my next cruise I'll be right there with you!

No worries! We got everything we wanted on our first cruise! We were put on a waiting list but they were good about getting us our first choice. I think we were able to get Palo dinner and they do open up more reservations for every booking window!!

I wouldn't worry too much about getting what you want. Last year it was my first cruise and I misjudged my 75 day mark and actually logged on a day late and still got the day and time I wanted for Palo. I didn't stay up til midnight last night either. Went on the site at about 10 am EST and got exactly the time and day I wanted for my Palo dinner. And the Trunk Bay excursion I was hoping for. I chose the semi-formal night for Palo because it's what we did last year and it seemed to work well. I liked it because we had already done all the restaurants in our rotation at least once already,so I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Good luck:wizard: getting what you want, but like I said, I wouldn't worry too much.:thumbsup2
