January 15, 2012 - WONDERful Mexican Mickeys

We will be on this cruise as well (DH 42, DW 41)! Not bringing the kids even though they qualified for the KSF promotion. I guess we will have to spend extra time in the Spa celebrating our 20th ALONE!!! :beach::hug::cool1:

Luvgoofy - WELCOME! I know I replied to this post last night but it didn't show up. hmmmm. Anyway...DH and I (both 34) will also be sailing without our kids on the MR cruise. Each time they try to get on us about going on DCL without them, we remind them that they are getting to spend 11 nights with their grandparents and all is forgiven :thumbsup2 So, I guess we'll be seeing you in the spa, alone, celebrating our 10th anniversary

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm certain we all have a lot to be thankful for this year.

When you use priceline can you still leave you car for free at the hotels by the port? We are coming from Sacramento area.
I have 2 kids dd 9 and ds 6

maybe the anniversary celebration folks can all get together.. ours is the first day of vacation..23 years..

I am a little sad that I have to work from 10am to 11pm tomorrow....but....I am going on a Disney Cruise and that makes up for it a little bit!

Hope everyone enjoys Thanksgiving!

Wanted to introduce ourselves. We booked our cruise after my husband's cousins told us about us (JCMH--traveling with twin 2 year olds). My husband and 2 sons (9 and 4) will be going, while our daughter 10 months will be staying home with grandma. We also told my son's godparents about the cruise and they booked too (along with their parents), so we have a big crowd! We are very excited as this is our first cruise.

Oh, and we want to participate in fish extenders, even tho I am still not exactly sure what that all entails! LOL

See you in January!

Mom2Aiden - WOW! That's some travelling party you've got there. Sounds like a fantastic family trip. Welcome to the cruise!

Hope everyone had a successful Black Friday and a Happy Thanksgiving!! We had both. Scored a tablet for DD(8), a new phone upgrade for DD(11), 32" TV, foreman, soccer balls for DD(8-does travel), a camera smaller then my SLR, Under armour, and more.....now this illness is kicking my butt for the last almost 2 weeks , so off to urgent care to find a cure...LOL

Well, here I am, new to the whole thread thing.
Wanted to intro my crew. Big family cruise on the Wonder, Jan15, for us from up north.
4 generations, DH, me, DM (my mom), DS and his wife DD, and the most fun ones, DGS#1, 5yrs old and DGS#2, 4yrs old. I hope that makes sense. I have been following the threads on DIS and find all the infomation fun and interesting and informative. My oh my, so much information.
My DM and I have been on a Mexican Riviera cruise before along with 2 others, just not on Disney, so was so excited to get the email for this cruise. We love cruisin' and hope to convert the rest of the crew.
So, hope to meet some new friends, here and on the cruise.
Just can't wait!

Booked the Jan. 15th cruise on the Disney Wonder. I will be cruising with my dh of 34 years and our youngest dd (17). First time on a Disney Cruise.

Our dd doesn't know about the trip yet. She wanted to go on a cruise before she turns 18. We are surprising her with this cruise for Christmas.
Any teens out there going this week?
Any advise for her or us?
curfew vs. no curfew?
activities?
excursions with a teen?

Any teens out there going this week? Nope they are in college.. Just us!! ( Dont feel sorry for them, they went to Alaska on the Wonder in August)
Any advise for her or us? LOTS!! Both boys where on DCL from little club time to college age time....meet other kids as soon as you can, especially the first night.. go to The Stack or it is called the Vibe on the Wonder..( teen club) right after lunch..my boys met friends there right away.
curfew vs. no curfew? we always did the "when the clubs close , you are to be in the room. No wandering halls. hanging on staircases. Also no guests in the room.. even for a minute. One one cruise my DS#1 who was 15 at the time, went to the walt suite ( where he had a friend) and ordered pizza for every one at the stack ( teen club)..LOL.
activities? do the teen only activites, excursions..
excursions with a teen? zip lining on PV, snorkeling, and or parasailing on Cabo..

see above..she will have great fun and so will you!!

I will also be 17 on the cruise :) (2nd cruise with DCL)
She will make heaps of friends at the teens club or around the ship so no worries about that! Last time I went I was 14 with my 17 year old sister, we didnt have a curfew but by the end of the night we were shattered so made it back to the cabin on our own. The teens club has midnight raves and all sorts of activities that go into the wee hours of the morning so she wont want to miss out :) As for activities elsewhere the shows are amazing and well worth her time :) The ziplining would be a great excursion to do as a teen but it is a little pricey. Hope this helped a little :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Another big travelling party! I can't believe all the extended families that are joining this cruise. What a WONDER-ful family vacation!

Also welcome to Munchkins101 (and family). I do not have personal experience with teens on the cruise (as my kids are only 7 and 6) but my BIL has been on DCL as a young teen and older teen. I second the idea of getting to the teen clubs shortly after boarding in order to meet the other teens in the age bracket. As an "adults only" couple travelling, I thank Geffric for the rule of no loitering in the hallways/stairwells. Best way to stay out of trouble it keeping busy right?!

Well, Thanksgiving is over and we are in full Holiday shopping mode here in NJ. The ink was finally delivered for my printer so I can stop procrastinating on my FE gifts and door magnets. Now, I just need to find the motivation to work on the FE itself, LOL!

Less than 2 months to go and December is going to FLY by. I'll be packing before I know it :)

Thanks for the welcome! Yes we are so excited, the whole family.

Just looking for transportation from the airport-hotel-port. Have you cruised out of LA on Disney before? I seem to be a bit confused about the port, Los Angeles or San Pedro? I have cruised on Carnival from LA, but am not sure if it is the same port.

And the FE!!!!? I shall have to get working on that one too! It will have to be simple, my talents have dwindled the older I get with the crafting. But I do have the magnets sort of started!

Good for you to have a nice "adult" cruise on a family ship!

Marilyn

I'm having such a hard time not telling my kids. We are going to Disneyland Dec 1 so they're not surprised I'm obsessed with all things Disney right now. They'll never suspect it.

We arrive on Friday so we haven't decided if we're going to Disneyland or trying something new.

What excursions are all of you looking into or booking? We have no idea yet.

Nice to see fellow Canadians on the list!
I don't know how you can keep it all to yourself, I couldn't, so everyone knows and we are all getting more excited.
We booked the Pirate Cruise in PV for the young family, the elders will just be touring the Malagon and taking it easy I think.
Dolphins in Cabo! I am very excited to see my boys reactions, they are 4 & 5.

Hi, Michelle
Just was interested in joining the FE, I think I have the idea from your very informative posts.
My large family group is my mom, hubby, son and daughter in law and two grandsons, 4 &5. A Wonder-ful holiday, as they say!
We are in cabins 8040 and 8038. But should I make just one big one for the whole crew?
I haven't enough posts yet, so hope this will work for you.
Thanks,
NanNan Marilyn
PS, hope Urgent Care helped you out! :thumbsup2

Welcome to all the newbies!!! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving feast but didn't go to over board...I mean there is tons of food to eat on the WONDER.... :lmao: I have added you all to the web page and I see NanNan and Mom2Aiden are gonna do the FE. What about the rest of you new comers?? Also Anyone doing the FE, if you are willing we have been adding the names of everyone to our web page. If you aren't willing please let us know that so maybe some of us doing personalized FE gifts can send a PM for the names. I know there is a few doing personalized gifts.

Thanks! I tried to email or send a personal message, but am not able to until I get my 10 posts, so am working on it :).
Made my door magnets, pretty fun!
Now looking at excursions.

Getting ready! Got our door magnets done, that was easy.
Planning the FE, may be harder.
Looking at excursions, two booked, plus a spa.
Trying to find something easy as my mom is 80, the elder princess, like Snow White LOL
Anyone else bringing their elders?
They are still alot of fun, just like the littles.

Marilyn

Welcome to the group! I was starting to worry that we might be the only Canadians in the group. I have thought about doing the dolphins, the kids would love it!
