January 15, 2012 - WONDERful Mexican Mickeys

pixiedust:Well, all FE gifts DONE! Now to get the FE themselves put together!
And.... only have to finish a bit of cooking and wrapping before Christmas and get in my 2 12-hour night shifts in before Friday. Good thing I'm on night mode anyway since it is now 9:30 pm and I'm just starting to cook!

Guess we are all too busy to chat much right not, but I can guarantee I have thought alot about all of you the last couple of days.

Hope everyone has a safe, happy, WONDERFUL holiday! :santa::littleangel::grouphug::wizard:

Not long now!!!!!pirate:pixiedust:

Does anybody know if Cabo local time is the same as ship time? I read that PV time is CST an hour ahead of ship time which is on MST, but Cabo is the same?? The whale watching excursions are sold out both days for our cruise so we are going to do this on our own. Just want to make sure I book the right time. Thanks!!

From what I have read on the boards, DCL used to change to local port time in PV but recently they have been staying on ship time. This means we will change time once before getting to PV and stay on that time throughout the cruise. \

I found this post in the all things MR thread: When I emailed DCL before our cruise to find out if ship time would be local time when in port I was assured that it would be but that information proved inaccurate when we sailed to Mexico on the Wonder last week. When we arrived in Puerto Vallarta, local time was CST but the ship stayed on MST while in port so when the itinerary said we would arrive in Puerto Vallarta at 7:30 a.m., it was already 8:30 a.m. in PV. I became suspicious when we didn't receive a notice in our cabin to move our clocks ahead one hour the night before our arrival in PV so I checked with Guest Services and was told that the ship stays on MST in PV. If I hadn't checked we would've missed a 9:15 a.m. excursion we pre-booked on our own thinking we had an hour and 45 minutes to get there when in reality, we only had 45 minutes. Some people on the ship did miss the excursion because of the confusion.

After returning home, I emailed DCL about the discrepancy. The itinerary should reflect the local time in each port, but on the Mexico cruise it did not. Cabo is on MST (ship time) but Puerto Vallarta is on CST. I wanted to give you a heads up to avoid time change confusion especially if you are booking your own excursions. [\i]

Marilyn - are you a nurse or physician? Just asking because not many other professions work 2-12's overnight. if so, very cool.

I got a good majority of me FE gifts done 2 nights ago. I still have a bunch that I have planned to do, I hope to be able to get it all done. I still have to make the FE itself - I really should get started on that or I'm gonna have a plastic bag hanging from my fish :rotfl:

So, last night was the first night of Hanukkah so we've been pretty busy and we had the kids out WAY too late. This morning should be fun...not. But what a crazy week. So for now, I'm just sitting and cuddling with our pup and waiting for the craziness to begin again.....would someone explain to me why I have to work, why can't I just sleep late and hang out at home watching TV all day???????

We are participating in the gift exchange but we don't have a fancy fish extender. Does anyone just put a tote bag up instead. Just trying to watch money with Christmas and the cruise so close.

that works..saw some people do this last cruise.
seems there was a rash of people getting FE stolen a while back, so now some people use a tote bag..cute Mickey ones at the Disney Store..
BTW i gave these out on my last cruise..but not doing it this time..

Here is the puzzle after the girls put it together. They were so excited. I had to give it early cause my nieces are coming for xmas and I didn't wanna make them feel bad that they aren't going. So now I have broken out my FE supplies to finish those....hopefully will have this done by New Years Eve.

Hi, Beth,
I work in emergency in one of the 3 adult hospitals in Calgary, AB. I nursed for years and now am the clerk on the desk. Love the job and the people I work with are amazing.
We are all getting very excited.:dance3:
I was on the same cruise different cruise line in 2009 and don't really remember the time issue. Well we shall have to ask when we get there. We booked the Mexican cooking and the kids are all going on the Pirate cruise in PV, through Disney.
We did get our documents Yesterday!!!!!! Now it is real!
Well, better get back to work, still have 8 hours of my shift left then off for Xmas!
Happy holidays!:santa:

How Cool! I bet they were flying high!
Not too long now!
Happy holidays!:santa:

Marilyn - that's fantastic! I am a P.T. in a hospital so I know just how hard the unit clerks work. But definately kinds of cool that you went back to that after nursing for many years.

Michelle - you are just so creative! Your kids must have flipped out. I can't believe you did keep it quiet as long as you did. I dont' think I'd be able to keep it from my kids.

griffic - Sounds like you are going to have a great pre-cruise weekend. Congrats on 22 years, that's so wonderful (makes my 10 years seem like nothing). You know, I've been handing out on here and talking to dh about my "internet friends." DH said to me last night, "Ummm, are we going to have any time alone on this cruise that we are taking, you know, alone...." LOL! which made me think about...

Donathius - and your "alone time" thread. Love it, Love it, Love it!

So, I started on the actual FE last night. You know, it would figure...I found no-sew directions and it tells me to cut the backing to 8" but it doesn't tell me how LONG to cut it - grrrrr. I have NEVER worked with fabric before, what the heck made me think that I could make this? So, a heads up for all of you participating in the FE - don't laugh when you pass Rm 7116 :rotfl:

no problem with FE...whatever works:surfweb:

as far as "alone time on cruise" no problem..:thumbsup2dont be surprised that you will see the same people over and over again..others you see at the DIS meets and than they "disappear".

Ok...I am tired. We spent 2 days at Kalahari Indoor Waterpark Convention Center. The girls had a blast. Now I must clean tomorrow. Luckily it's just my SIL and my parents that come over tomorrow so I don't need every crevice cleaned...LOL I have worked on my FE gifts a little yesterday. I however have realized that there have been like 5 familes added since I bagged the stuff I had done. Looks like there will be a day of finishing up after Christmas. I hope to be completely done by Jan 5th....no reason for the date, just sounds good...LOL Well off to do a load of laundry from the waterpark and then go on Justice and get my DD a new swimsuit. The one she wore all summer and to Disney in Sept has proven to be to small....dang girls are growing...LOL Well TTFN

thanks..same to you..:santa:
