January 15, 2011 - Magic

Hello!

We are looking forward to our very first Disney cruise...it's going to be extra special as my husband's entire family is coming and there will be 26 of us in all! party:

Our family is arriving from Comox, BC and we would like very much to participate in the FE exchange!

:welcome: to the thread!

I've got your family added to the list - let me know if others in your husband's family are also interested in the FE.

Excursions / Plans-

Not really sure what we'll do :confused3. Palo Brunch for sure....maybe dinner also. St. Thomas we've been pretty happy taking the ferry over to St. John and going to a beach - either do that again or explore St. Thomas a little. St. Maarten -- we did a Beach day through DCL last time. Haven't even looked at the excursions offered through DCL yet for either so that will give us something to do in the next week or so.

DH and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary today. We're spending this week in northern Michigan with the lovely fall colors and planning for our upcoming cruise. I think we're more excited than our DD10!!!

Yep, we've been married 30 years and have a 10-year-old proving that God has a sense of humor. :rotfl: Life is good. She's trying to talk me into going on a Jet Boat with her in St. Thomas. We shall see.

One thing that the kids did during a Panama Canal cruise meet was exchange postcards from their home town or state or province. My daughter loved that part. Would there be any interest in doing that for those of you with kids? I guess that's presuming that we'll meet up with each other sometime during the cruise and maybe that's not in the plans yet. I'd be glad to help with that if anyone's interested. Just let me know.

Have a great week!

Sharon :cool1:

Hi Sharon! I have a DD11 who might be interested in this as well... Will your daughter be in the 11-13 group by chance? Just curious to get my DD a friend!!!

Thanks so much!

He had fun with our family too. But then again I'm only 29 when at Disney parks or cruises, 39 the rest of the time and I'm not going to tell what Birthday this cruise is celebrating but it ends in a zero. Ds is only 7.

Hi Amy ~

Our daughter will still be 10 when we cruise so I think she has to be in the 8-10 group. Sometimes, the age groups are in the club or lab together so maybe they'll have opportunities to connect. I'm sure our daughter would prefer to be with the 11-13 group but I don't know if that's an option.

Maybe our girls can meet if we do the postcard exchange or some other kind of meet!

My daughter will still be 10 when we go as well - but turns 11 a week later. We called and they said she could go in either group....

What a great way to celebrate a special birthday! Good point about age varying depending on location and activity!! :woohoo:

Thanks for that info! It's good to know. On our last cruise, DD was 8 and she did find a great friend in a dinner tablemate but they hung out at the pool and other activities more than the Club. She went to the Oceaneer's Club and Lab only a few times - and that was on a 15-night cruise. It would be nice if she could go with the older group since I believe they do activities in Ocean Quest and that might be more interesting for her.

Both of our daughters, DD11 and DD9 will be in the clubs a bit...they love them...during the day they will be in the pool most likely! But they LOVE meeting and making new friends so they are pretty fired up for the entire cruise!!!

Can't wait!!!:cool1:

Tis is our 2nd Disney cruise, we did Oct of 2008 - were wondering if anyone else has done the January cruise before? W are looking at excursions and are wondering about the water temps? we know it won't be cold but has this altered anyone's plans, our DD is 8 and DS is 11 -we can't wait for Castaway Cay again and hoping for warm(er) water!

We've done 2 other January cruises, one Eastern and one Western - lovely weather for both. Castaway Cay was warm and sunny when we were there and the water was okay for our daughter but we're from Michigan. It seemed kind of chilly to me but people were still in there. We did a beach day at St. Maarten (actually on the French St. Martin side) and it was tropical. St. Thomas was very hot as well.

Have fun making plans!

Hi All -

We'll be celebrating DH's (Eric) 40th birthday (a little early) and DW's (Julie) 40-something birthday with y'all!

Our DDs are Jessica (8) and Hailey (12):tink:. (emoticons selected by DDs) This is our 4th sailing on the Magic.

Hailey and Jessica would love to have a "pen pal" with which to chat between now and the cruise. Anyone interested? (Parents are wondering how to do this safely - and would be open to any and all ideas (although I'm sad that we even have to think about this sort of thing!)). Feel free to IM.

See ya' real soon!:smickey:

:welcome:

Ahoy! Eric, Julie, Hailey and Jessica!

So glad you will be sailing with all of us. My DD10 had pen pals from the disboards before our last cruise and it really added to the anticipation of the trip. It's a great idea.

Have a great time planning and preparing for the cruise. I don't know about you but we seem to be talking about it a lot at our house!

Sharon :cool1:

My daughter is so interested in the pen pal idea!!! She was just asking a few weeks ago how you can get a pen pal :)

If your kiddos are interested please send me a PM :)

My daughters 11 and 9 would also be interested in being a pen pal/pen pals...just pm me!

Thanks!

Amy

Hey Amy! Just PMed you with the girls' info!

Lori123 - The girls are in their rooms writing something now!

(All of the sudden, I kinda want to be 11 again, too!) I suppose the Boards are the modern version of being pen pals!

Just made final payment today - Palos booking at midnight on Saturday. We're getting excited!:cool1:

Does anyone know which night will be Pirate Night? :confused3 We want to schedule a night at Palo but not on Pirate Night! pirate:

Thanks!
Amy:goodvibes

On our last two cruises it was on Wednesday evening. pirate:

I feel like there's only the few of us on this sailing. Where's everyone else? :confused3
