January 15, 2011 - Magic

I feel like there's only the few of us on this sailing. Where's everyone else? :confused3

We wonder the same thing - checked availability the other day on Travelocity and no Verandah rooms were available so I was thinking it was filling up, but I don't think final pmnt is due until about 11/1 so maybe people are still holding out.

We've just been busy - daughter just finished up hockey last weekend, son has a birthday tomorrow (party Sunday) - both kids start the regular hockey season next Wednesday. So, hockey 3-4 times a week between the two of them along with dance and piano (and girl scouts / cub scouts) fills things up ..... already looking forward to our 1 week break in January

My daughter will be 9 on the cruise and my son is 11. I am sure she would love to pen pal anyone who would want. This will be our second cruise. We did a 4 day last December and loved it so much we booked this 7 day on the cruise.

It is getting close. We will be booking Palos this weekend.

Does anyone know which night will be Pirate Night?

I was just looking at the Navigators from the Eastern itinerary for this past January on castawayclub. Now, granted this information will be a year old when we sail but Pirate Night was Tuesday night after the day in St. Maarten. :confused3

Maybe there are only a few of us because we don't have a wacky name for our thread like others I've seen.

We booked this cruise so much later than usual and this year has seemed to just fly by! I'm sure we're all super busy so we'll need some relaxation by January. I can't think of a better way to relax and have fun at the same time. :dance3:

Are any of you going to WDW before or after we sail? Our DD is in 5th grade and once kids are in Middle School here in our district in Michigan, it's very difficult to take them out for extended travel during the school year. So, since this might be our last get-away-from-the-frozen-tundra trip for a while, we're going head to Orlando the Wednesday before and spend a few days at the World. I booked a room at Pop Century a few days ago and the rooms went on sale yesterday - called back and they gave me the new rate. It's incredibly affordable if anyone is thinking about doing that. We will utilize the Magical Express when we arrive at the airport - love that  - and then ride a towncar to and from the port. At least, that's our plan right now. :cool2:

I saw a thread about having a Scavenger Hunt at the port terminal so kids would have something to do while we're waiting to board. We like to get there pretty early to get a good boarding number. I think we have some pictures of the model and the waiting area so we could put something together if anyone's interested in doing that. (Watch them remodel the whole area after we plan a hunt. :rotfl:)

Just sent you an IM!

Hmmm... Interesting. I was on the western one time -- and on a western double dip the second time. So, I would go with that old eastern Navigator over my prediction!

We'll be at the World on Friday night 1/14 celebrating Julie's 41st birthday at California Grille. We have a 7:30 ressie - fireworks are at 8:00. Then, staying at Boardwalk (we're DVCers). We're also going to the World afterwards for one night and staying at AKL. However, we're NOT going to the parks! We just went for 8 days this past August. :scared1:

We'll be there early, too. The excitement is just too much for us on cruise morning! A scavenger hunt sounds great. But, can the adults play too? ;)

My daughter Lilly (9) would love to be a pen pal. Just pm us.

We are going to be at POP too. I was able to get two nights for $155 so we decided to go early, lounge around and head to Downtown Disney on Friday for a bit. We aren't going to go to the parks though....

I giggled when I read your post - you say SHE would love a pen pal. My daughter is all over the pen pal thing too - but my son, he just kinda shrugged his shoulders when I mentioned it to him. I think the writing just seemed like more work to him :rotfl2: Sounds like our sons are in the same category!

Hi Everyone.

New to Disboards, and this will be our first Disney Cruise:cool1:

I like the social networking this creates, but where are the rest of our fellow cruisers?

There's only 6 staterooms booked for this sailing! :woohoo: I'm upgrading to a Cat. 1 at the port. :lmao:

On another note: I got our Palo reservations tonight - no problem! :dance3: Hooray. We have brunch on Monday at 11:00a and dinner at 7:00p on Wednesday. Exactly what we wanted.

I gained 7 lbs on our last cruise. :scared1: It turns out those Mickey bars are not calorie free after all. :rolleyes1 While I was able to take off the weight within a few weeks afterwards - I keep promising myself I won't do that again this trip. I wonder if I should just surrender now.

We have DCL fever in this house. Fish extender and magnet planning has begun. DDs have started exchanging notes with pen pals. The countdown is on the fridge. Yeesh! We are definitely ill! But, boy, is this fun!

We got our reservation at Palo - just brunch this time! I also booked a cabana massage for hubby! Hopefully, he likes it.

I'm starting to look at snorkel trips on St. Maartin. We normally book independantly and it has turned out very good the last 2 times on St. Thomas and St. Croix. Both kids are eager to try it again - we will see.

Back to bed. It is my son's birthday party tomorrow afternoon. I need to finish the goodie bags in the morning.

We made reservations for brunch on Monday at 10:30am. We'll try to leave something for you but I apologize right now if they're out of tiramisu in those little glasses by the time you get to dessert. :drinking1

I have to dig out our fish extender and update it. Yay - what a wonderful thing to put on my 'to do' list!

Happy planning everyone!

Welcome to Melino!

:welcome:

I'm not sure where everyone else is but for those of us that are here, I'm putting together a Scavenger Hunt for the port terminal while we wait to board. If you'd like to participate, let me know and I'll have enough copies of clues for you.

I know it's a little strange meeting up with people whose only connection is the random booking of the same cruise. But for the past cruises when we've participated in disboard meets, it's been a lot of fun. It's doesn't have to be a huge commitment and it's kind of nice saying hi to a familiar face every once in a while. For some people, their kids end up playing together and it's great for the kids. When we cruised through the Panama Canal, it was hysterical since about half the ship was on the disboards and filling fish extenders became a part-time job. :rotfl: We came home with a small suitcase full of trinkets that people left us.

Just to touch base online is nice because (and I bet you've experienced this as well) some of my good friends think I've gone over the deep end when it comes to cruising with Mickey. Heck, I wonder about that myself. So, I can use this forum to type things like this paragraph and not burden my friends with my obsession  and you'll understand. Hopefully. :upsidedow

You're still reading? See, you're as obsessed as I am. ;)

Sharon :yay:

Please make us a copy of the scavenger hunt. It sounds like a good time. We are usually so excited that day. We like to arrive very early.
