January 14th 2006 Magic Western.............

DD10, DS6, DH and I are doing the Atlantis Submarine Expedition. Our friend who is going with us is doing the Nautilus Undersea Tour. He didn't want to go in anything that completely submerges. We have several non-swimmers in the group (DH and our friend), so snorkeling was out of the question, plus the guys would have needed to get prescription goggles since both wear glasses. Decided snorkeling wasn't worth it, but we wanted to see the undersea life, so decided these tours were the best for us.

At Costa Maya, we decided on the Chetumal Mayan Museum and Spanish Fort. Our friend wants to change to one of the ruins tours, but I haven't been able to do it online. Does anyone know...are the 2 ruins tours sold out already? For our family the Museum/Fort will be great. I've read that the museum is outstanding and our kids love things that are interactive. We've been to a number of museums with interactive things and the kids love it. Plus, it will be a good chance for DD to do a little investigating on the Mayan culture and write up something for school. I'm sure her teacher will appreciate the extra effort since she is missing 8 days of school for this trip.

Key West we're going to just roam around on our own. I've got a number of spots we're interested in, so we'll see where the day takes us. ::MinnieMo

Husband, FIL and MIL are doing the Chaccohoben Ruins tour.
Will you be booking from Disney excursions or a onshore tour company? I see the onshore tour is 1/2 the price.

Hello everyone,
Not TOO long to go now....I am excited and nervous at the same time.
I have heard some bad stories about Jan cruises missing ports due to high seas etc...Does this happen often?! I REALLY hope that we'll have a smooth saling :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: ....someone PLEASE tell me I am just paranoid....

So far we have booked island tour & snorkeling at Grand cayman and Chacchobrn ruins at Costa Maya (both with Disney).

We went on the Wonder last January & had beautiful weather, smooth seas.
Lets hope for a beautiful week! :sunny: :boat:

:dancer: :jumping1: hello everyone-we are cruising with a 3 yr old and still trying to potty train-if she does not cooperate by then what does she miss out on.
also when traveling-excursions etc what do we do about car seats should we bring one?almost now-we have planned this trip for about 2 yrs-we went on wonder about 4yrs ago. see u all soon. :grouphug:

We have a little guy who turned 2 in August, and potty training is looking hopeless for us too. Non-potty trained children are able to play in the Mickey Pool only in the one ear that has the fountains. Trevor played in that last year and he really enjoyed it.

On the shore excursions, carseats are not required for children because the vehicles that you will be traveling in (taxi's or buses) are considered to be commercial vehicles and child seats are not requied in commercial vehicles. I was told that we would not be allowed to take one for Trevor unless we wanted to pay for him to go. On the shore excursions that young children are free on, they have to sit on your lap. If you want a seat for them, you'll have to pay for the seat, and some excursions won't even allow the carseats.

Hope this helps!

Chris

Thanks For The Info-hopefully The Taxi Drivers Are Not As Crazy As The
Ones We Had In The Past-see U Soon

Hi everyone, we just booked this trip a couple of days ago. Nothing like the last minute, huh? Anyway, this will be our first cruise and so we are kind of overwhelmed with it all. Looking forward to it. It will be my husband, myself and our two daughters, ages 7 and 9. Hoping for beautiful weather, too.

hello cynthia,
You will love the cruise-you probaly picked the best one-u dont have to worry about much-any questions just ask-most everybody on this log has gone several times-my name is kurt and i will be cruising with my wife and 3yr old daughter.also my mother and her down-syndrome client.
we have ajoining rooms.we all cannot wait to jan 14th-see u onboard :earseek:  :rotfl2: :wave2:

Welcome to the group...Dh myself and our 10 turning 11 year old dd on the cruise will be going along with friends of ours. We can't wait. We have been counting down for a year now ... I hope the next month goes by quickly.. :cool1:

I had posted on the general cruise board a question regarding the weather in January. Like a poster above, I had read some cruise reports from January-February of last year that kind of scared me with reports of high, rough seas and rainy, chilly weather. Being first-timers, we are kind of nervous about it all anyway! Do you all have any advice about what kind of clothes to pack? Do you swim on the ship and at the ports or is it too cool? What about shorts vs. pants? I want to minimize my packing so I hope not to have to pack a lot of both warm and cool weather clothing. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Cynthia, my last cruise was in december and we always had great wheather.we had some warm clothes from driving to airport(flying out of Boston)but that was it for warm clthes-we swam everyday on the ship and at the ports-my guess the wheather will be just fine.night time seems a little chilly on deck-kind of windy but its usually pretty warm.and the ship is so big it handles rough seas like nothing.are you coming from a cold area?
hope this helps.

Welcome Cynthia!
I will also have a my 9 year old with us. So they will be in the same Kid's club group.
Weather in January can vary. You'll have to pack both warm & cool clothing I'm afraid. I guess it depends on where you live. 70 is chilly for me <G>.
Or wait to pack just before you go, to see what the weather will be like. Swimming is warmer when the ship isn't moving because it can get pretty windy while it's moving.

Can't wait, it's coming up quickly!!

Good afternoon everyone! Welcome Cynthia and Dupuis family!! :grouphug:

The time is creeping ever so near!! :goodvibes

I was wondering if anyone was planning a Dis Meet?

Of course there will be a DIS meet!!! Maybe we should wait until two weeks out & plan it. That always seems to the best time. People will have more of an idea what they will be doing by then.
Any ideas? I have been to several DIS meets. I'll have to think about it.

I would have to agree with the longest month ever but I think it's going to go by too fast as well. While on Castaway Cay, my fiance and I will be getting married. So if you notice a bride and groom wandering around the ship - that's us!

Here's hoping I don't go bridezilla in the meantime!!!

Dorie

congrats bookworm-that is awesome!
what a great place to get married.i hope your day is perfect
are you going to have any disney characters at the ceremony?
mayby goofy in a tux-lol
