January 14, 2012 Eastern Carribbean Cruise

:lmao: My daughter is talking to herself on the kids thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2726262 anyone else have kids that might want to join in on the conversation?

Awww... I wish I did! My oldest is only four and doesn't know how to type yet. :-)

Here are a couple of updates for us:

Rooom: 8580

Palo: We'd love to do dinner and brunch but have to see if we can book it. No High Tea for us this time...

FE: We most likely will do FE but I'll let you know for sure soon.

Quick question on the FE exchange, has there been guidelines set for this? Looking mainly for one FE per cabin/person/kids only? Will it be broken up in to groups if we get more than 10/15/30 to participate? Leaning more towards doing it, but still trying to get a feel for it.

There are really no guidelines, at least on the ones I have participated in. We basically leave it up to what you want to give. I try to gear it towards the kids since more than likely, it is for them. We will break it up if it does get too many. It is hard to run all over the ship trying to find 50 cabins. My first cruise broke it up because we had something like 50 families but the second one we didnt because it was far less.

ok. good to know it will be split up if there are too many........I'm close to calling it.......it's painful up here on the fence! ;)

On our last cruise we had 33 cabins and decided to do one gift per stateroom and something separate for the kids. I think for us it will be easier on the Magic since it is a much smaller ship on the Dream. When we did the FE on the Dream I felt like we were running up and down hallways forever! LOL

Also, I'm not sure about the FE exchange. As a 1st timer this really sounds cool, but looking at some of the FE threads, it's pretty intimidating, especially for someone who is not very crafty.

Anybody care to give advise either way on FE's?

It's fun to do, and you don't have to be super crafty. I'm not. The first FE I did (With Jen, Jackie and the gang), I did something from home. For the cruise I just got off of, I made journals for each cabin, but I cheated and bought a 1/2 size spiral note book and printed a label that covered the cover. Thats as crafty as I have time to get. It really is fun to come back each day to check for goodies.

We had 39 cabins in the one I just did. I did one gift per room.

Okay, now that my Alaskan cruise is over, (which was WONDERFUL!!!!), I can focus on this one. Welcome to anyone that has joined since I last posted a welcome! :thumbsup2

We booked our cruise on the Disney Magic for the January 14th, 2012 sailing yesterday!! My son and I cruised on the Disney Magic in 2008. This time we will be sailing as a family. DH and I will be sailing on this cruise with our sons 12 and 10, and our daughter who will be 1 on January 14th! We are SOOOO excited!!

We live in Palm Coast, Florida which is just north of Daytona Beach. I am originally from Chicago, and my DH is from upstate New York. I read some other posts from people that are on this cruise from the Syracuse area. That may excite him more than the cruise itself because he is a HUGE Syracuse fan and loves to talk sports!

We are looking forward to getting to know you through this board before the cruise sets sail. My son always talks about the FE's from our cruise in 2008, and all of the friends he met from around the USA. We will be cruising in 2 inside connecting staterooms on Deck 2. We had an inside the last time we sailed as well. If I can answer any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them if I can. Look forward to hearing from all of you!! :cool1:

:welcome: NY would probably be Lori and she is a huge Syracuse fan. Praying she's able to come. Me, I'm from Edwardsville Illinois, a world away from Chicago but closer than NY. lol

I'm so glad you made it in here. I don't know how much I'll be in here though at least until the holidays, then I hope we are all going crazy in here:dance3:

So we got the DVD in the mail yesterday from Disney and DW said "I didn't order it, musta got our name off some mailing list" She also said we couldn't afford it.....little does she know!

That's so awesome!:thumbsup2

I am working on surprising Dave too. We are planning to book at POP 3 nights before the cruise, but if a good room only deal or free dining comes up, I am secretly going to change to a moderate (or a deluxe if the rate is really good!) to surprise him.
I figure it's our 2nd honeymoon, so why not:)

How was the Alaska cruise??

It was absolutely wonderful! The most beautiful area I have ever seen, and I went to Australia earlier this year, and said it was the most beautiful. I've been writing a trip report on my facebook page. I've got all buy the last 2 days written, when I finish it, I'll copy it over to a trip report and link it in my signature. It was cool and damp weather. We had a blast, and it was so relaxing. I am so glad we did the Disney Alaska this year, because the itinerary has changed for next year, and there is about 1/2 the time in port that we had this year, and I thought this year was hard to see everything. I would love to go back in a few years!

That's going to be so fun surprising her. I still have to figure out my surprise plan.

Yes, Jackie is right...that would be me!!! I BLEED Orange!!! LOL...I'm actually entertaining the idea of moving back up to the Syracuse area if I can get a job up there...

And yes, although Jen's praying for me, I still don't know if we'll be on the cruise or not as I have not had a permanent job since last OCT. Basically I think if I don't find anything by the end of July or into August we wont' be able to afford to pay it off and we'll have to reschedule which would suck. I don't like thinking about missing this cruise as it makes me even more depressed than just the whole being unemployed thing in general. I have been temping since the end of March, but all that means is I can afford to pay my COBRA health insurance which I can't do without as I am a Type 1 Diabetic...

sigh. This also is the reason why you haven't seen me on here much...

Jen-You need to pray harder!!!! Get off the sewing machine for once and help me out! :lmao:

JK...

Ok, that's if from me for now...everyone keep their fingers crossed please and send good thoughts our way...it's very depressing and scary lately as if I this temp spot ends (which it is in the next few weeks) and I don't find another job or at least another temp something I won't be able to pay for my COBRA and then I don't know what I'm going to do...:sad2:
