January 14, 2012 Eastern Carribbean Cruise

hmmmm....internet is back:thumbsup2, kids have a 2 hour delay (so far), so slowly back to reality.

I think after the past few days I will stop procrastinating and get our trip insurance done...

....and buy a better generator....and have an electrician install a generator switch to a few breakers in our panel...hello winter!! But wait-it"s going to be in the 60s this weekend? Typical New England weather:cool2:

Have a great day everyone!

No school tomorrow...roads are not clear and the busses could barely get around today. November 3rd tomorrow, and 3 snow days. I hope this isn't a predictor of the rest of the winter...

I hope not either Sue.......I'm currently in AK on business and it's 19deg and the wind is howling 30mph and I DON'T LIKE IT! lol........I'm ready to get back to the lower 48 and even more ready for Jan 14th!!!

We're sitting at 50 with drilling rain right now.

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while, work has been super busy. Heading to Phoenix next week for work so may have time at night to update the files.

It's actually pretty nice here today-mid 50's and sunny. It's supposed to be like this for a few days, so hopefully they can get power back to those without, and get roads cleared so the kids can get back to school. This weekend if the snow has melted enough we have a lot of tree cutting to do. Oh well, we needed wood for the kids' to use in the firepit with buddies anyway:)

Remind the kids to really enjoy the cruise because they're gonna be in school till July!!!!! ;)

...except for the fact that they aren't coming on this cruise:sad1:...

When we had a wicked ice storm a few years ago and were out for 3 weeks (not a typo!) they took away February vacation. We had planned a cruise and went anyway.:cool2:

Oh Man!
No school again tomorrow-4 snow days this week and it's not even winter!!!!:sad2:

Sue:
Are they out because of no electricity? I can't believe you got buried with the snow. We got about 2" and it was gone on Sunday. Hope they get back to school Monday!

Yes. There are still quite a few people in our town with no power (7th day for some of them). Because we are moderately rural, there are also people without water because they have wells (no power=no pump=no water). There are some roads that still have trees down on the roads and/or power lines down so they are not safe for traffic (ie: busses and kids driving). The snow is slowly melting, but with the forecasted weather it should melt by next week.
Today we are starting our clean-up. Dave is taking the day off, I am not working, and the boys have an early practice. Hopefully we can get some of the more potentially dangerous trees/limbs down.
North Middlesex Regional is made up of three towns-two of which were hit hard by this storm. When we got the call last night the superintendent sounded very weary. I am sure she's been getting lots of calls: people who were not affected very much complaining that there should be school, and people in areas with a lot of damage complaining that she was attempting to have kids go to school in dangerous conditions. Lose lose situation...

It's New England though, these things happen. Gotta roll with it. It could always be worse.

We are rural. .. The worse thing about no power is no water. :(

Is this thing broke or did I forget to put on deoderant again? :hippie:

:confused3
It IS pretty quiet around here (que the crickets...) ;)

So, what is everyone doing for excursions?

We are doing the Downhill Mountain Rainforest Trek in St. Martin, and the St. John Eco Hike in St. Thomas/St. John.
I am hoping to run the 5k with Dave on Castaway Cay, then park myself with a book on a chair at Serenity Bay. :lovestruc We'll definitely take a walk to the tower and get some pictures there too.

I am debating about getting a pass for the Rainforest Room. Is anyone else planning to get one? I've never used it before. No other spa stuff this trip, unless an excursion gets cancelled.

I am really looking forward to dinner at Palo-haven't done that before. I hope it lives up to the hype. We aren't picky eaters so I am sure it will exceed our expectations.

OK I think it's quite clear.. you are a sickeningly healthy in shape family. :goodvibes I would love to do those things but my family wouldn't like me ditching them or being in the medical suite afterward.

We are doing Bernards on St. Maarten, Doubloon Turtle Cove Sail & Snorkel on St. Thomas, and have no particular plans at Castaway Cay.

The Rainforest Room pass, is that something you have to get once on board? I couldn't find anything about it on the website. I was thinking we'd like to do it one day to check it out but not too sure... me always worrying about getting my money's worth.

Looking forward to Palo on the 19th. I'm sure we will enjoy it.

Oh you are FUNNY! My family (not including me) is very much in shape. Oldest DS is a 3rd degree black belt and younger two are serious runners, Dave has always been in shape-but they all have metabolisms like freight trains.) Me, not so much :lmao:. We do a lot of hiking in the summer, but it's not high intensity. I just started a running plan on the treadmill with the 5K as my goal...
(I am trying to stay calm during the last minute of the Patriots game, but it's not working!!!!.....)

I wish they had a 1K run... I night be able to do that. Rams lost to the Cardinals but the Cardinals are our old team anyway so I guess its a win... I think???

Pats lost :sad2: In the last 2 minutes they were losing, then winning, then lost...very stressful, but I guess it was better than a boring game :happytv:

At least I am entertaining to my family when I yell at the players like I think they can hear me:lmao:
