Hi All and of course esp to Netty for remembering!!!!

SORRY not be on all week....I have been so tired coming in from work and then inbed for 8.30 on Monday although by last night I made 9.45!!!!

I was a bundle of nerves on Sunday night hardly slept and felt shattered on Monday morning. I went to work on Monday when I finally could get off the toilet!. I was introduced to the staff at 8.30 as a staff meeting was held and then to all the children in the morning assembley. So much to learn on the first day (like any new job!!) loads of new faces and kept losing myself in the schhol going into wrong classrooms etc!. When I went home my head was banging and I must admit I was starting to wonder if I had done the right thing!!

BUT the week got better as it went on. I have started to remember staff names and am not feeling so much as a 'new girl' anymore. I have been added to the staff christmas party list so think thats a sign of acceptance!!

As for the children most are lovely and its really made me think. The school is is in a very deprived area alot of the children have sad or bad backgrounds with alot of family issues. There are alot of behaviour problems and some children are just reaching out to be loved and have some stability. I have never worked in a school thats in this sort of catchment area but although there is alot of issues I have already seen it can be so rewarding however it has made me realised how lucky I am to have a good and normal upbringing and now my own family and children!!.

Well done Jane - the worst is over now!!! It's heart-breaking how needy so many children are, isn't it? I'm sure they'll love the extra attention you will be giving them - some kids have so much to cope with at such a young age but there are very very few who aren't lovely on an individual basis and when they realise you really want to help them. You're doing such a worthwhile job!!!
