Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

It looks the hurricane will miss us. I feel so bad for the people on the east coast. They keep getting hit.

45 minutes of circuit training. Dh & I got my new exercise ball blown up. I'd use the foot pump and then he'd just blow it up. He got more air in then I did. Those cheapie foot pumps don't work well.

breakfast: 1C watermelon, LC sweet & sour chix dinner, oj
ended up eating LC baked chix instead

I'm glad you are going to be spared by the hurricane. Not too many of those here in AZ...

I love my exercise ball! I might try that advice with the jumprope. I want to die when I just try to go for 5 minutes. I think I could handle 10-15 jumps. My DD6 can go and go and go and go. I get exhausted just watching her!

You are doing great. Let me know how yummy those fajitas are!

I forgot that on Friday night we were invited to a county western party. We had a great time - arrived at 7:30 and left about midnight. They had a buffet set up. I took one plate - filled it once and that was all I ate. I had two types of pasta salad, 2 italian dishes, 2 small cubes of cheese and NO chix wings! Also had 4 white zinfadels. Great night - they had a band. We kept begging them to play southern rock. Everyone kept trying to get me up to dance but I didn't want to. I had fun just watching everyone else.

lunch: skipped lunch because of the party

snack: 2 pieces of Ghiradeli Choc

dinner: buffet plate but I skipped dessert since I had the choc pieces already

We made the fajitas for saturday night instead -
Saturday: Dh & I ended up not getting home until almost 1am - we were so wound up that we didn't fall asleep until 3 am. I slept soundly so soundly in fact that Dh woke me up at 9:44am. I'm supposed to be at work by10am. I flew around the house and ended up being 10 minutes late. In seven years I've never been that late before.

breakfast: skipped breakfast
lunch: LC meal, 2 mocha bars
dinner: chix fajitas, 1 mocha bar

Sunday:
tuna w/cocktail sauce
snack: 3 homemade choc chip cookies - I can't resist these!!
lunch: LC meal, cranberry juice
dinner: leftover chix fajitas - we finished'em, 2 mocha bars, cranberry juice

Monday:
blueberry morning cereal, oj
garden burger with bun, mocha bar, oj
watermelon
2 soft tacos, cranberry juice

Dh is going to skewer the shrimp and grill it outside but he probaly won't be home till 7:30 or so. I was starving so I ended up going to TAco Bell and buying 2 soft tacos. I was going to save one for him - but was too hungry!

I did 12 minutes of exercise each day for Saturday, Sunday & MOnday. (walking, calf raises, lunges, arm raises etc.)

Amy, I think I need to lose about 20 more lbs before I jump rope regularly. ITS TOUGH! UGH! I tried it once on my tile floor and since have used the carpeting. I hope you have better luck than me!

Ya, you definitely can't jump rope on the tile. That is a grass kind of activity!! I have not even tried it yet, I keep making excuses...

I would have been right with you NOT dancing. I have no rythm. Have you seen that Seinfeld episode where Elaine dances? That's me... I actually quit an aerobics class because we got a new instructor and she had some pre-choreographed routine to Ricky Martin's "She Bangs". Then she opens the door and is yelling and whooping it up, so everyone that walks by was looking in. Tons of people from my work go to the same gym, and here I am in the back row, looking like a robot... Needless to say, I have not been back to one of her classes since!

Have you tried Gewurtztraminer (sp?) wine? It is SO good! It is a sweet white wine, I love it. I also like Reisling. Our latest cocktail of choice is amaretto & Diet Coke.

You are doing so good with your eating. :goodvibes I wish I could skip dessert like that. You think "I already had chocolate, I better not have dessert". I'd think "I already had chocolate, what the heck I might as well have dessert since I already ruined the day!" I'm still working on that one  Keep up the great work!

Amy, we love Gewurtztraminer (I can't spell it either.) We buy Fetzer's brand. About three times a year we'll buy it and everyone seems to really like it. Right now we're into white zinfadel and sparkling wines. Dh would love your amaretto drink but he'd never drink diet.

Lost another pound. I'm now 158.5. I got to change my signature. I'd better hurry and report to the challenge boards before the month is up.

I did 30 minutes of cardio and ab crunches today.

I forgot to add that last night I had two garlic shrimps when dh ate his late dinner.

breakfast: 5 sips of soup (Soup to Go - the Mexican flavored one), 3 bites of pineapple

snack: 1C watermelon

lunch: LC sweet & sour chix, mocha bar, grape juice

snack: 1/2C sherbet

dinner: LC Thai chix, mocha bar, grape juice

Dh got home too late to skewer the shrimp on the grill. I sauted it in butter and garlic for dh's dinner. He had chilled shrimp with cocktail sauce and my sauted shrimp.

Wow Jane, you are going to weigh less than me in no time! I better get that scale moving! I can't have you out-losing me!! ;)

Maybe your DH could try the amaretto in regular Coke? That might be way too sweet, but it might be good!

I love shrimp. I can't wait until the end of Sept when we go to Mexico and get it fresh from the water. YUM!! Your food choices look good, keep it up!

Jane -- Your hard work and dedication is so incredibly inspiring! Congratulations on seeing the results of your hard work on the scale!

Keep up the awesome effort! :cheer2:

I've been upset watching the news about New Orleans and Mississippi. Those areas have been devastated. I don't see how they're going to make it thru this. Some of the stuff I've been reading and hearing just seem unbelievable.

20 minutes of walking
breakfast: 1/2 of a bowl of blueberry morning cereal with nonfat milk
lunch: LC thai chix
snack: one glass of iced tea
dinner: 2 garden burgers with buns, mocha bar, grape juice

Amy, you're in no danger of me catching up! You're at the most difficult part when you don't have much weight to lose. You're going to look great for your trip. It won't be long till you'll be eating those shrimp south of the border. I bet they have some really good recipes down there too.

Cam, thanks for stopping by! I can always use the support!

I can't believe the lawlessness and helplessness that is rampant in New Orleans. People on TV were begging for help. I don't understand how we can airdrop supplies to other continents and we can't help our own. They said two babies died of dehydration. Its so horrible.

I agree with you Jane, usually in times of crisis people ban together, it is such a sad thing to see the looters and other morons acting like this. There are so many good and decent people that need help there and it makes me mad and sad at the same time. I can't even watch the news, it is too depressing. Hopefully things will get better there soon, we all need to keep them in our hearts and prayers!

You are still doing great on your eating! Come on, you can make your exercise goal this month, I know you can!!!

Amy, I just can't believe that all of this is going on. I just watched a press conference and they hoped to have everyone out within 24 hours. I'm just upset that because of the lawlessness its taking longer than it should. I keep watching TV hoping that the news will improve.

30 minute weight workout

Last night I ended up eating only one Gardenburger. By the time I finished the first one I received a phone call and then wasn't hungry for the second one.

breakfast: 1/2c blueberry morning, skim milk

lunch: Mom took me out for lunch. spaghetti - I ate 1/2 of it, green beans - I ate 1/4 of them, one slice of garlic bread/butter, 1/2 peanutbutter pie - the pie mom and I split

for dinner I plan on fixing a pasta dish with onions, pepper & tomato sauce - I forgot to buy more garlic!

Last night's dinner was the pasta I made. I had to use garlic powder because I forgot to buy more garlic. I sauteed onions, red pepper, green pepper in olive oil and added garlic powder right at the end. I browned ground round (less than 1lb of ground round) & fixed pasta, added a bunch of diced tomatoes, a little asiago cheese & mozarella cheese. I also bought real parmesan cheese that needs to be refrigerated to add on top with some ground pepper. Dh loved it. Its a lot less fattening than my old standby pasta dishes. The cheese is more for flavoring - I didn't drown my pasta in it like I normally do.

dinner: pasta, cranberry juice, mocha bar
snack: mocha bar

Friday:
breakfast - 1 bowl of blueberry morning, skim milk & oj
lunch: pasta, 1 mocha bar
snack: 2 mocha bars

I plan on having pasta for dinner tonight, cranberry juice & a mocha bar

Yum, that pasta sounds good! You always make such good stuff. I wish I were a little more experimental in the kitchen...

Have fun at your party. You can have fun and be healthy at the same time!

This morning I woke up and did 70 minutes of exercise: 35 minutes of walk/jogs outside and (due to the HEAT!!) 35 minutes of cardio inside.

breakfast: 2oz of tuna with lots of ground pepper

Thanks Amy! I think I'm going to eat either chix or tuna. Dh has decided to cook hamburgers out on the grill. I'll make a big salad to go with it and add some chix or tuna into mine.

Wow! Look at you! You are an exercise goddess!!!

Thanks for stopping by my journal. I'm glad to hear your little girl is going in for her appointment next week--the sooner they take care of it the better for everyone! It will be nice to have it done and over with. It was similar when we took Diana in--we dropped her off in the morning and came and picked her up the following night. They do put the girls completely under for their surgery so she was a little groggy afterwards, but back to her normal self in a few days. They have to shave a good patch of their stomach in order to do the surgery, so she had this big bald patch that lasted for over a month! The actual scar was just a straight horizontal line, about 3-4" long tied up with stitches. We had to take her in about 2 weeks later to have the stitches removed, but that only took about 5 minutes.

If you have a spare room, or even a spare closet/bathroom, you might want to set her up a little nest with her food/water/litter and a cozy place to sleep and rest quietly for a few days. For the first 1-2 days after the surgery Diana was moving pretty slow and mostly napped/rested.

Sending :wizard: for everything to go smoothly! Hope you have a great long weekend!!!

Pearlique, thank you for all of the kitty info. We've been so worried about her. She seems so little at just 5lbs. I'm glad everything went well for your little one - ours should be fine. Her food, water & litter is already kept in ds room so she'll have a quiet place to herself to recuperate. We're going to miss her while she's gone! How did you get thru those 2 days?

I had the best of intentions when I posted in here on Saturday. I was working out hard & eating well. I'd made plans for the weekend. And then the weekend got here! First we moved our card dinner to Sunday afternoon since dh had to work late on Saturday. Second, we had too much food.
We grill dh's awesome cheese burgers (they're huge), had chilled shrimp, & an olive, cheese, artichoke heart plate, Dos Eques w/lime, sparkling champagne & Eskimo Pies! Everyone brought something to eat: baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, fruit salad, drinks, chips & dip etc. We ended up eating all day. We started with the appetizers at 1:30, had lunch around 4pm, and dessert about 7pm. There went my eating plan...

5 chilled shrimp, 8 chips and dip, 1 glass of champagne

1 cheeseburger w/sesame seed bun, baked beans & a huge plate of potato salad, 1 champagne

1 bowl of fruit salad & 1 eskimo pie

2 slices of spicy pepper jack cheese & 1 glass of champagne

1 eskimo pie

I ate my last eskimo pie at about 11pm. Too much food!

The next day, Labor Day, my friend was coming over to take me out for lunch. When she got here I suggested we eat all our leftovers up instead. She was more than happy to oblige! We had a great afternoon visiting.

Then in the late afternoon I went shopping with another friend. This friend had always been thin. I didn't see her for about 2 years. In that time, her weight ballooned. The next time I saw her I didn't recognize her. She looked totally different and about 10 years older. She told me she needs some new clothes - so we had made plans to go shopping on Labor Day. Its been a struggle for her. One store we went to barely had the Women's sizes. At another store she struggled with some of the styles. Some would fit but look bad on her - others she wasn't comfortable with. She ended up with a couple of new outfits. She also talked about losing weight. Seeing how difficult things were for her motivates me not to gain weight. She's been thru some very difficult times. At this point, I'm worried about her health as well. When we were walking thru the parking lots I had to slow down for her to keep up with me. If nothing else I hope she starts walking again. She used to walk, bike ride & do weights. She hasn't done any of that in ages.

Monday:
1 bowl of fruit
1 burger on a bun, 4 shrimp, 1 eskimo pie
split nachos w/dh, 2 long island iced teas (dh & I went out for dinner to Chilis - we were so busy this weekend we needed some alone time.)

Tuesday:
breakfast: 1/2 cup of fresh pineapple

I'm planning on fixing Mexican lasagna for dinner tonight.

workout: 20 minutes of free weights :cheer2:

Your weekend sounds about the same as mine!!! Being social really kills your best intentions for sticking to an eating plan, doesn't it?!?

That is too bad about your friend, but kinda good for you because you can see firsthand how important it is too stay on track! You can do it, you've come so far already. Keep it up!

Sending :wizard: for your kitty! I'm sure everything is fine and she'll be so happy to see you tonight!

I hear you about social events derailing our attempts to be healthy! I did a bit of that this weekend myself. I'm glad you could be there for your friend and help her through the awkwardness of trying to find clothes. It's cool that it was an eye-opener for you.

Have a great day!

This a.m. I had to take QT to the vet to get spayed. I felt so bad because she kept going up to her food dish wanting food. I ended up going a few minutes early and sitting in the parking lot with her. We get her back tomorrow morning after 8:30am. I have a dentist appt at 8:40 so asked dh if he could please pick up QT.

breakfast: 1/2 bowl of blueberry morning with skim milk

lunch: potato salad, serving of Mexican Lasagna

I made the lasagna too darn HOT again. I didn't put habanaro peppers in this time. I added jalapeno peppers, habanaro sauce & Louisiana Hot Sauce. Guess it was still too hot. Dh helped me pull some of the jalapenos out, but it was too late!

OH & I forgot to post. I bought MIlk Duds again. Ate 3/4 of the box last night & 1/4 after lunch. Ouch!

My weight yesterday was 158.5 but I'd better be careful.

Amy, we're halfway thru the week and I still haven't settled down & eaten right. I have NO EXCUSES!

Pearlique, we get her back tomorrow. I phoned the vet and she did well thru the surgery, so now we just have to wait until tomorrow.

Glad to hear she did well--sorry for the mix-up on dates. For some reason I thought she went in yesterday... I'm glad you get her back early tomorrow morning. It's so hard without them!

Bummer about the lasagna being too hot. I keep doing that to my tortilla soup. I wish there was some way to cool it down besides yummy, high fat sour cream!

Hope you have a great night! :flower:
