Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

I can't believe you took that poor little kitty away from his friends and threw him into a dog mauling, older cat hissing and biting torture chamber! :cat:

I hope all is well with your mom and that she gets into the new shopping routine. I guess going to the store is part of her daily ritual since she doesn't have much else going on all day!

When my kids get back I am going to start with the subliminal "no tattoo" messages. It's never too early to start!

YAY for throwing out the Kisses! I know that was probably hard to do, but you did it! :cheer2: You are also doing great with your exercising, your knee must be all better.

OMG - a bag of Hershey kisses - that sounds like something I would do. Hope Iim not rubbing off on you in the wrong way!! :rotfl:

Sounds like your Fla. weather is much better than our heat wave. Nebraska is hot but looks like maybe rain by Friday, so we may be staying in. That's ok, just talking and hanging with friends is the main reason we're going.

I decided to get shrimp cocktail for lunch since my friend was coming over. For dinner I decided on tilapia but the grocery store had other plans. When I got there no one was in the seafood dept. I waited, shopped, went back again, saw two old ladies waiting & give up, and finally I gave up. It messed up my whole menu for today! Everyone's been telling me that I should have gone to a manager for assistance but I really didn't want to. I just wanted my darn seafood. From the display counter I bought tilapia with crabmeat stuffing for dh but I don't think I'll be eating that. I've never had problems wiht service at this store - I just don't understand what happened. :furious:

I ended up making a fruit, cheese, meat & cracker platter for our lunch. Forget the food - we loved the mango wine the best -- but only had one glass apiece since we both had driving to do later in the afternoon.

I skipped breakfast and haven't had dinner yet. For snack I had a slice of cheese and grapes.

Yesterday I did 20 minutes of free weights.

Anna today the kitty let me sleep in until 5:45am! How lucky can I get!!!! At that point dh and I dealt with her for about an hour. Finally, we gave up and moved her food/water dishes & litter box into the animal room. I hope it doesn't take long to get her to sleep in there! Today bad cat and kitty were curled up on the chair in my bedroom - I'm taking that as a good sign.

And the little kitty couldn't agree with you more!!!! With all of this guilt, :guilty: I'm probably stuck with her under my bed for the rest of my life!!!

Amy, good luck with the anti messages! They worked on my older son but not on my younger son. I swear I think the fact that I hated tatoos only made him want to get one more!

Kate, I'm improving. :sunny: I reached for grapes and cheese instead of candy. I hope you have good weather for your trip!

That's too bad about the grocery store. I would have done the same thing - walked away. I'm just not patient enough...

Great job eating cheese and fruit instead of junk! We had some mango wine this weekend. Last night we had Category 5. I think that is my favorite! We are down to 3 bottles (out of the 6 we ordered). I am going to have to tuck them away for special occasions. I don't feel like forking out another $150 right now and the pain of the FedEx/wrong shipment fiasco is still too fresh in my mind... My friend told me to talk to Cost Plus World Market because they might order the wine to sell there. She did that with a Pineapple wine from Hawaii.

You have been really consistent with your workouts, way to go! :cheer2:

I'm at 420/1000 - I did 20 minutes of pilates today.

Last night I had cheese, ham and asparagus at 7pm.
At 9:30pm I had pretzels w/LC cheese.

I didn't eat until 2pm today when I fixed dh and I reuben sandwiches. I had white grape peach juice with mine. That juice is delicious!

At 5pm I had three mocha bars.

For dinner tonight I'm fixing the buffalo chicken tenders - from the BFL book. Dh is finishing the tilapia w/crabmeat from last night. He had leftovers because he had eaten it with sake and sushi. He's welcome to the chicken tenders I'm fixing for ds and me but he probably won't eat any.

Speaking of ds he's been working out steadily for several months & drinking protein drinks. He was always tall and skinny and he's put on 10lbs in about 3 months. He's still weighs less than 150 and he's over 6' so he can stand to put on some more weight. Today he talked about adding in cardio! He's NEVER done cardio - its all about the weights. He wanted to go jogging but it was storming way to much.

Also, my mom's tree got struck by lightening yesterday. Her neighbors' came over after the storm because they'd witnessed it. It hit the top and came down and there's a big mark in the bark of the tree. She had lots of tree stuff in the road and in her yard. At 90 years old she was out in the street cleaning it up! No wonder why she's so thin!

Amy, that would be great if you could get the wine ordered for you at Cost Plus World Market. It'd probably be a lot cheater. I know we spent about $20 per bottle and it adds up quickly. I don't blame you for not wanting to use Fed Ex after what happened. The wine is so good its almost worth it! Did you hear about that cruise ship in Florida that 'tilted'?! Yikes - that does it for me - I was never big on cruising and after hearing this story I doubt I'll ever go again. I don't understand what 'steering' has to do with 'tilting'. Way too scary for me. I just thank God I had already turned down that "Golden Oldies" cruise some family/friends of ours were going on this fall.

This morning I decided to start the day right for a change. I fixed myself a protein drink within 15 minutes of waking up. I had a business meeting to go to and when I got there I was so glad I wasn't tempted by any of the delicious pastries. Those protein shakes are definately worth the expense! :thumbsup2

#2 buffalo chicken breast, baked beans, mocha bar

Your eating looks great! Anything that doesn't include Hershey Kisses and hot fudge sundaes is an improvement... :rotfl:

I saw that about the cruise ship. Doesn't give me a warm & fuzzy for our upcoming cruise in November! But that was 1 incident out of hundreds of ships that chug along with no problems, so I'm not gonna dwell on it.

I still haven't made the EFL buffalo chicken! I cheat and use the buffalo chicken marinade... :rolleyes1

Great job resisting the pastries :cheer2: ! Your eating also looks really good. Glad the hot fudge and hot dogs are all gone now. It is wonderful that your exercising seems to be rubbing off onto DS. That is great.

I woke up early and got in my workout first thing! 50 minutes of circuit training and 10 minutes of yoga. :cheer2: :cheer2: 480/1000

Last night we had family over to play 'Texas Hold'em". Foodwise, I was doing great - I hadn't touched any bad food but I did have 3 glasses of white zin while playing & then! I ended up fixing nachos. :guilty: :guilty: I don't know if it was the fact I lost every round or I did not eat enough protein.

Which brings me to today - I skipped breakfast - I wanted to fix a protein shake but got too busy. For my first meal I ended up going out for pizza and ice cream sundaes with a neighbor at 1pm! I did not stick to my program - because I worked out, skipped breakfast and then was a raving food maniac.

Yesterday dh found the toilet seat in ds bathroom up and dk (dear kitty) IN the toilet! :furious: He NEVER used to do that!

Amy, I bet the buffalo chix marinade is fine. I use Crystal Hot Sauce from my grocery store - and add the olive oil that EFL also includes. Its so darn good - even ds was sayin' it was hot and thats a good thing! Be careful on your cruise - no new cruise ships! Apparently, this ship was new. I've never heard of a ship doing that before. I feel so bad for the people who planned and saved for months only to get sent home.

Anna, I know I can't believe I resisted those darn pastries! And they were really throwin' them at me! See - thats the difference between morning and 3pm! I definately have NOT been an influence on ds. Thats all stuff he and his friends have been doing. Several of them got into working out and now he's into it too! Although, sometimes he does ask my opinon on stuff like protein drinks etc.

I think your new kitty is going to need some kitty Prozac! How traumatizing, poor little thing...

We are going on the Norwegian Jewel. It debuted last summer, but it has been cruising the Med all year, so I think they got all the kinks worked out. All the passengers got full refunds and I bet you anything they got a killer deal on a future cruise (like 50% off or something). It stinks for everyone that got hurt though.

DH wants DS10 to start lifting weights when he is 12 or so. I'm afraid his arms will snap like toothpicks if he picks up a weight! But 2 years is a long time for a kid, who knows what he'll be like then!??!

You definitely need to stop skipping breakfast! It really screws up your whole day. You were doing so much better with the small meals every 3-4 hours, remember?

IN the commode?!? Oh dear. It's certainly never dull, is it!

Sounds like you're doing really well. Your poker party sounds like fun!

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend! :sunny:

Poor Kitty! OT - DD3 has a bathroom in her bedroom (used to be the guest room before she arrived). Since she is potty trained, I leave the door open for her during naptime. Last week, I came in and there was water all over the bathroom floor, a sopping wet wash cloth and several wet stuffed animals. She told me that she was washing their hands :rotfl2: . I thought that DD3 had finally figured out how to turn on the sink faucet. Then I realized that no, she still can't reach the sink faucet handle .... Only one other water source ... eeewwww! Now I close her bathroom door at nap time  !

You are doing great with your exercise. Breakfast really does make a difference though doesn't it. When you get pressed for time, how about toast w/ PB?

I'm in the middle of a kitty cat nightmare!!! :cat: :cat: :cat:

When I took our kitty to the vet on Friday I found out she had ringworm. When we adopted her we asked what the bald spot on her ear was and they reassured us it was just a bald patch - Well, the vet told me that was RINGWORM!!! I'd never seen it before so I didn't know. NOW I'll never forget!!!

Over the weekend QT got really sick. WHen I got home from work on Saturday she was listless, her nose a bright red and blisters on her tongue. I took her with me to our dog's yearly exam today. She's really sick with some kitty virus. She'd had all of her shots 4 months ago so this is something different. She looks horrible. The vet said if she doesn't start improving we're going to have to take her in for an IV. She's also started hissing at the kitty again.

On Saturday night dh took a syringe and gave her water because she wouldn't eat or drink.

I told the vet that our new kitty wasn't sick with this virus - but he said somehow she gave it to our cat. It must be serious because I heard him talking with the vet who saw our kitty on Friday.

:sad1: :scared: :faint: :sad1: :faint: :scared: :sad1: :faint: :scared:

My workout is 30 minutes - 15 for each day of cardio.

On Saturday and Sunday I made a protein shake for breakfast. I also made extra to take to work. At lunchtime I did not get cravings. However, by 3pm the cravings were back so I may need to make a shake for the afternoons.

Saturday night we were invited to play cards and everyone brought appetizers. We brought shrimp - which I didn't have. I did have oven baked chix wings, veggies with sundried tomato dip, and Fridays chips with a horseradish dip. Also 1 Riesling and 2 White Zins.

Sunday dh and I got our usual chix fajita nachos - I had two Long Islands. I didn't even eat half of the nachos though. I saved some for lunch today.

Anna, its funny you mentioned P&B sandwiches because thats exactly what I made for breakfast. I was in a hurry between getting the animals to the vet, giving them meds & meeting with our accountant. I made toast and PB&J for dh and I. We haven't had that in a long time. I swear its my favorite.

(Also had oj and a banana w/breakfast.) Still haven't had lunch yet.

Amy, you're braver than I am. We've gone on one cruise and I just didn't like it. We were invited to go on a cruise in January - which ended up being a rough cruise - lots of wave action. (after hearing that I never regretted missing the cruise) This fall, we've been invited to go on a Golden Oldies Cruise - as much as I love Paul Revere and the Raiders - I'll wait and see them in Epcot again. HOwever, I have friends who love cruising and go every single year. No Way!!! It must be genetic because my mom felt the say way about cruises. I bet your ship is beautiful. Everything will be brand new - yet all the "kinks' worked out - I bet you'll have a great time. ARe you going to the Mediteranean? Wow!!!! That might be worth a cruise!

Pearliq, thank God ds is now keeping the toilet lid CLOSED!!! And,we're blaming the shelter for the virus/ringworm thing!!! Yeck! And my poker playing apparently only gets worse the more I play. It was all downhill this weekend. I need to get back to VEgas and learn how to really play. (Except their chips cost real money!)

Anna, AAACCCCKKK!!!!!!!!! :worried: You never know what a child is going to do!!!! I hated taking my sons into public restrooms when they were 2-5. I never knew what they were going to touch or where they would sit. Actually, I get physically ill when I see parents take young children into public restrooms without shoes!!! It happens at the beach or park all the time - It drives me nutz!

Sorry to hear about the sick kitties! I hope they are better soon.

I was back to old (BAD) eating/drinking habits this weekend. But I paid for it with a killer hangover yesterday. I think I learned my lesson (which will be promptly forgotten in about 2-3 weeks  ). You didn't do that bad considering the potential! :teeth:

That is really sick that people let their little kids go into the restroom with no shoes. YUCK!

Hi Jane!

Sorry to hear about the sick kitties - hope they're well again soon. :sunny:

570/1000

I feel like my head is going to explode!!! My mother is becoming increasingly more confused each day. Her sister is in hospice and her brother in the hospital. Instead of addressing those issues - she's getting confused with her day to day living. I've had a busy day!

At the same time I was checking on Mom, my brother phoned and spoke to dh about my mom. Dh had been giving the cats their meds. When he got off the phone he realized baby kat had eaten her meds as well as QTs! By the time I got home dh was fit to be tied and late for work. I had to call the vets for the cats, call the dr for Mom, take Mom to the store, and be ready for an afternoon meeting!

On the positive side I did a 60 minute walk. On the negative side I didn't eat until noon. It wasn't planned that way - just happened. Once the day started things kept happening so quickly that I had no time. I'm thankful that I did my walk early.

#1 (at noon)protein shake, hummus, 1/2 of pita bread, 1/4C canteloupe

After the business meeting we went to the wine place on the key. I had 4 samples of wine.

Thats it for now. Dh doesn't want dinner until 6pm but I don't think I'll hold out that long. I'll probably have more hummus. Dinner - I'm grillin' out and making chicken fajitas.

note: I started this earlier - am coming back to finish. I had 2 slices of toast w/lf LC cheese and one banana at 4pm.

Amy, guess what I got at the winery??? :drinking1 The fact that I bought a whole case has nothing to do with my stress levels but I did get 10% off! I finally found out what Category 5 is - Sangria!!! The guy suggested it when he saw what other wines I was buying - it looks like it has a little of every other wine in it. Also, we got to try a brand new champgane - Mango. Its really good. Much bettter than the grapefruit chamagne.

Kate, let's just say its been an interesting week. I don't understand how the shelter didn't realize it was ringworm when our vet recognized it immediately. From now on if I ever get another animal its going to the vet before it comes home.

Wow Jane you have definitely had quite a day. Might need to open up one of those new bottles of wine tonight with dinner. :rolleyes1 . I hope things calm down for you with your mom and the animals soon.

Now how do you get a cat to voluntarily take meds?! With our cat it took two people and MAYBE the meds would not get spit back out  .

Yup, public restrooms are definitely a challenge with the 2-5 year old set - mommy says "Don't touch anything!" and definitely you have to have your flip flops on when you go. Of course, they NEED to go at all the most inopportune times too. I think they just want to check it sometimes...

Today I've got tons of housework to do. We're going to Orlando tomorrow for our anniversary. I bought dh 4 Billy Joel cds and 2 Billy Joel dvds. We've been listening to them every morning and every evening. I can't believe how good his music is. I'd love to see him in concert someday.

So far today I've had a protein drink. No workout today but I plan in on getting tons of walking while we're in Orlando.

I'd rather forget yesterday's food - chicken fajitas for dinner - then a couple hours after dinner I made nachos again! I can't get that darn shredded cheddar cheese in the house. I'm really addicted to that stuff. From now on I'll just have to buy that shredded asiago cheese for dh - hopefully ds will like it too.

Anna, good idea about the wine. We may take a bottle with us to Orlando. As for the cats, we just put the meds in their food now. We use canned food which they don't get very often so it helps. Although, QT is finicky!

Your shredded cheddar = my Cool Whip. Isn't it sad how we get so fixated on certain foods?

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc  :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :yay: :bounce: :woohoo:

I'm sure you will have a great time in Orlando. I think you should take some Category 5 to celebrate!

I hope all the kitty drama is slowing down and your mom is behaving a little better. Your eating has been pretty good considering all the stress you've been under lately! :teeth:

Happy Anniversary Jane :woohoo: :bride: :groom: party: :music:

and have a wonderful time in Orlando!
