Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Looking Good, Jane!

I'm glad they're finally getting your roof done, and I'm praying for a very MILD Hurricane season for all the coast.

Have a great rest of the week!

WOW, what a day! I hope things calm down enough so you can relax and enjoy your mom's b-day party!

I thought it was pretty amusing in your post - first your DH aggravates you about the a/c, then he totally redeemed himself by cleaning up after sick doggie! :teeth:

You are really getting back on track with your eating. Be glad you don't like coffee! I don't either, which is a good thing because the flavors always sound so yummy!

Things are looking up! :thumbsup2 Our roof's on, the thermostat is set at 76 degrees and its 79 in here! Much better than the 81 from earlier this week.

My weigh in is 149.8. I'm back down to the 140's. :cheer2:

I'm a whirlwind of trouble today causing dh more work! Returning from an errand I decided to 'scare' dh. He was alone in the house taking a shower. I figured he'd never hear me enter the house with the noise that the roofers were making. I quietly slipped into the bathroom, grabbed the shower curtain and flung it open as hard as I could. Big Mistake! :rolleyes1

As I flung open the curtain, my hand hit a picture on the wall, causing it to fall. The picture and I hit the towel bar at the same time causing both of those items to clatter to the floor. Dh looked astounded! I felt like an idiot! And now dh has lots more work. He never had a chance to get scared - it all happened too fast. Some days I'm a heck of a lot more trouble than I'm worth! :bitelip:

dinner yesterday: turkey, spinach, lf cheese wrap, 3 mocha bars

Today's workout 30minutes of weights

#1 oatmeal w/apple, almond slices, raisins & cinamon
#2 turkey, spinach, lf cheese on ww, melon slice

Anna, thanks for your concern! Things are definately improving today. Its great to have a roof back on even if its not my first choice. Love your recommendation of the books on tape for mom. Next time I go to the library I'll see if she'll take a cd home. If we pick an author she's familiar with she may just go for it.

Kate, you and Anna, just may entice me to read these books. I usually read nonfiction but everyone seems to like DaVinci code. If so, I'll remember to start with the Angels and Demons book first.

Julie, thanks for your prayers - A NO hurricane season would be great this year!

Amy, as you can see dh and I are definately taking turns aggravating each other!!!! I guess I get to be aggravated next! I'm really trying to eat better, keep the high fat desserts out of the house & exercise. I used to buy ice cream for dh and the boys - this week I bought sherbet, sorbet and of course my mocha bars! I can eat a whole lot more sorbet than ice cream and its just as good.

Yes, I can see how you have been married for 20+ years - you take turns annoying each other! :teeth: Is that the secret??? :goodvibes

I know what you mean about keeping stuff out of the house. I was so intent on binging one day last week and I remember opening the freezer, fridge, pantry and there was NOTHING that was binge-worthy! I was very bummed but happy later on.

The DaVinci Code is very interesting, I just wish I had more time to read it. It's hard to put down. I hope I can finish it this weekend, lounging by the pool. I was also going to suggest books on tape for your mom. I believe you can get those at the library.

I'm glad things are finally getting squared away with your house!

Dinner last night was steak on the grill and a big salad w/tomatoes, madarin oranges, celery, red onions, pinapple etc. Also had 3 mocha bars and a glass of 7UP.

Today breakfast was late. In fact it was lunch. The dog was up throwing up at 5am this morning. I took her to the vet where they did tests and an xray. Nothing conclusive is showing up. Her GI tract is really irritated. We're giving her meds and a new dog food to calm down her stomach and see if that helps. Poor dog - no breakfast this a.m. Also, the xrays show her arthritis is horrible, but you'd never know it. The vet couldn't believe how hyper she was - he said she should be acting a lot worse because of her condition.

#1 1 1/2 bowls of chili
#2 3 mocha bars

Amy, I agree, it really helps to keep the high fat high sugar stuff OUT! I'm so glad I've got the mocha bars - its much better to grab 3 of those than one bowl of real ice cream.

Aww poor doggie! Hope she's feeling better, I know that worries you and will just be one more thing to be taking care of.

Looks like you're doing good!

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Is your dog feeling better? I hate when they can't find anything wrong with them when you take them in!

I should get some fudgesicles. They are low in calories and FF and maybe that would take the edge off. I've gotten them in the past and really like them. I don't know why I don't buy them more often!

Do you have any special plans for Mother's Day?

yesterday's dinner was chili and an apple along with cranberry juice

Today
#1 chili and a banana
#2 ham wrap w/ lettuce, lf cheese, peach salsa

Haven't gotten to #3 yet.

Busy busy weekend coming up. Its my Mom's 90th birthday! Thank God she had me late in life (41) - all of her other kids are old! I've been a nervous wreck getting stuff ready. Went to the digital photographers with some old, small pics. I can't tell you how great they look. I've been doing lots of running around & planning. Dh asked me if I was going to workout today - he's right I know but I'm stressed and can't wait until this weekend is OVER!

My daughter in law phoned me the other day asking if I'd like a manicure for my mother's day gift. I've been so busy running around I couldn't believe its my day too!

Kate, after 3 shots, 2 prescription drugs & a new special diet my furry baby is feeling much better. For almost $300 she should be!!

Amy, we'll be busy on mothers day with each of our moms and the relatives that go with them. I love the mocha fudge bars - they're really good.

Jane, Have a wonderful weekend and :bday: to your mom! If you don't get a chance to relax on Sunday, I'd recommend a "do over" weekend for you next week! :teeth: After everything you are doing, you definitely deserve some time just for you!

Love the story about surprising DH. :rotfl2: Sounds like you guys have a great relationship

Congrats on getting into the 140's    That is awesome!!! and I'm glad doggie is doing better too.

So, how did the party go? I'm pretty sure you didn't behave, so spill the beans... I want to hear about all the wonderful things you ate!!

Before I forget - 45 minutes of fast walking and 25 minutes of free weights.

The party for mom was perfect! :sunny: :teeth: :) :goodvibes We had a private room on the second floor of the restaurant overlooking the bay. With our very own waiter. It even had its own bar for water, soda and iced tea. Of course, the real drinks came from one of the downstairs bars. It was a beautiful set up.

She loved her presents. I'd swiped pictures from her photo album and had 6 of them them remade into 4x5s and framed. She loved'em. Her favorite was the one of her mother when she was about 9 years old. These pictures had been in really bad shape before. They were tiny - like 2x3 or something.

I had quesadillas and something similiar to a Long Island Iced Tea. Instead of coke its made with cranberry juice. When the waiter was taking the drink orders my brother's girlfriend pointed at me from across the table and said, "I'll take what she's having!" That cracked everyone up.

I was very happy with the arrangements by brother made. He did an excellent job. Since our waiter was "stuck" with our room and couldn't take any other tables, dh tipped 20% and then I added an extra $10. Dh about had a fit that I tipped extra but I appreciated the work the waiter had to do and wanted to be sure he knew it. I'm sure everyone else tipped about 20% but I felt the waiter deserved extra. My son agreed with me!

Everyone loved the cake I had done with a pic of Mom when she was about 17. It turned out well. My nephew was dishing out the cake and as he handed me my piece he said, "You have your mother's eyes!" :rotfl2:

Yesterday was one food after another. Breakfast buffet at 9am with dh's family. (eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, potatoes - too much) We came home and at 1pm dh & I had champagne and fruit w/lowfat cheese. At 4pm we ate with my family. Everyone was ordering steak and prime rib - I had the red potato appetizer. Its like potato skins with red potatoes. I only had one glass of wine because my brother's girlfriend told me she brought 2 bottles of champagne for us to drink at my mom's. (I made mimosas out of mine.)

Then at 8pm my kids did my "mothers day". WE made tuna fish sandwiches, had rootbeer and i opened my presents from them. I made out like a bandit! Lots of candles and flowers. My older ds even jokingly got me a 60 hour candle in case we lose our electric. I also got a candle warmer - I'd never even seen one of those before. I just had one bit of tuna, no sandwich and no rootbeer.

This morning, I felt like crap from all of the salt and alcohol I'd consumed this weekend.

So far I've had one meal of one scrambed eggwhite w/1 veggie sausage and 1 lf LC cheese 145/3.5

I've also had lots of lemon water and a T of habanaro sauce.

Anna, the party was great. Unfortunately I can't do a 'do over' next week because I work next weekend. HOwever, this one went pretty well. I'm just a little worn out today.

Thanks, Kate, you too! It went so fast I couldn't believe it!

Amy, we had a great time. As you can see I did a weekend of mainly junk food. It was great - I'll take quesadillas and potatoes over a steak any day!

Wow, you don't mess around on Mother's Day! That is just too many temptations in one day, I don't know how you survived!

I'm glad to hear your mom had such a great day. She is lucky to have such wonderful kids to throw her such a nice party and get her such special gifts. I am like you - I always overtip if the service is good. But DH leaves the tipping to me, so he doesn't say anything about it... :teeth:

You will get back on track this week. Next stop - Memorial Day!

Jane, glad the party went so well!! The pictures - always a great gift!!

My DS and DD are working on a slide show for my parents 50th anniversary. It is fun, but takes forever, because we look through hundreds of pics and stop and reminisce too much!

Good Mothers day for you too! :sunny:

154 - 'nuff said -

Yesterday I had lots of lemon water.
#2 turkey wrap, apple juice, 2 mocha bars
#3 ham wrap, apple juice 2 mocha bars

Ds is getting smart in his old age. (Starting at age 13 my boys had to do their own laundry.) Ds makes sure that he gets up early, throws his stuff in the washing machine and goes to school. When I go to do laundry I have to take his stuff and throw it into the dryer to get mine in the washer. Then of course, I have to take his stuff OUT of the dryer. This week I made sure to get my stuff in ahead of him!

Yesterday I stubbed the last 3 toes on my left foot on my coffee table. The pain was terrible. I forgot about it until I woke up with my foot throbbing in the middle of the night. I could barely stand on it. I iced it and took some aspirin. When I woke up it was much better but still too sore to work out with. I did weights and walking yesterday so I was going to do one of my cardio workouts with my step but have decided to wait a few days. I can get back to my weights tomorrow.

Today - veggie sausage wrap, oj

Amy, I agree - If I get good service I always tip well so that they'll want to wait on me again. In fact at one restaurant the bartender would always slip us an extra drink trying to entice us to stay at the bar for dinner! Hopefully, Memorial Day won't be that tempting.

Kate, that slide shows sounds great! I bet your folks will love it. Congrats that they have made it to their 50th!

Today I did 45 minutes of weight training. Slowly but surely I'm increasing those minutes. Also, had a trip to the dentist. Suprisingly, he offered a choice of a crown or a filling with titanium - he couldn't guarantee the filling but since we just bought a new roof last week I figured that was probably the way to go. When I got home dh enjoyed making fun of the way I was talking. :teeth:

Yesterday:
#2 turkey wrap, banana, mocha bar, orange juice
#3 tilapia, corn on the cob, mocha bar, apple juice
#4 mocha bar

Today -
nothing until the numbness wears off!

Geez, what brand of mocha bars do you buy? I'm going to buy some stock!! :lmao:

You have gotten back on track with your eating, way to go!!! I hear ya on the weight woes - I'm in the same boat as you. It stinks, but it's only temporary!

I HATE the dentist! DD6 has to go get her first filling in 2 weeks. I hope she does OK. She should - she doesn't even flinch when she has to get a vaccination shot. DS on the other hand - you'd think he was being tortured the way he screams like a little girl...

Great job getting that workout in! :cheer2:

Glad your mom's party went so well and you had such a nice mother's day. Champagne & fruit - that's a great way to celebrate!

Ouch! So sorry about your toes.

You are eating great and still getting in weight training exercise even with hurt toes. Way to go!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Today I did a 30 minute fast walk.

Meal #1 yesterday was chicken salad on spinach, mocha bar & oj
Meal #2 turkey sandwich, lf cheese on bagel, apple juice
Meal #3 mocha bar

Today -
#1 reuben sandwich

Amy, I HATE dentists too. I took my mp3 player in & then it fell off my head while he was drilling. :confused3 Thank God it went by quickly. Poor ds - I sent him into the dentist telling them he needed a filling - they did xrays and everything BUT fill his tooth - then we had to schedule another appt for his filling (and its a small one). I don't know how I could get a broken tooth fixed faster than a small filling...go figure!

Anna, thanks for encouraging me! Its been a tough two months for some reason. I need to get back into this all the way - it sure helps knowing that I have challenges and accountability here.

Your chicken salad on spinach sound yummy! I'll have to try that. Thanks for stopping by my journal. I really appreciate it!

Have a great weekend!
