Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Sounds like you had a good time last night. Oh well on the cheese - that can be a tough one for me, toss-up between that and chocolate which one is worse!

You're doing so great, you'll be back down again in no time. You WILL be under 150 :thumbsup2

Have a good day. :sunny:

What is it with women and cheese?!?!? It is just TOO good! That is one of my (many) downfalls too, so don't feel too bad! Did you make up for it a little on Sunday? You will be back in the 140's in no time, have no fear! :cheer2:

I can't believe we're up to week 4 day 1!!!! My weigh in today was 152.6.

Yesterday we had lunch with a relative. Then at 3pm we had people over to watch the football games. Go Steelers! We had grilled chicken and hamburgers. I opted for the hamburger w/cheese while dh ate the chicken.

meal #1: one egg, sausage & toast w/oj, 1 banana
meal #2: one burrito, refried beans, 1/2 coke

meal #3: 1 cheeseburger, onion rings, 2 rum and cokes, 1 bowl of oreo ice cream w/carmel and hot fudge

meal #4: rum and coke

meal #5: bowl of oreo ice cream w/ carmel and hot fudge

Today was lower body weight workout. For breakfast I had a protein shake.

Kate, cheese & chocolate are the worst ones for me too. Don't know what it is but once I get started its hard to stop. I think when other people are around I'm not paying attention to what I'm eating until its too late!

Amy, no comment on yesterday's food intake. Just know, I'm glad the weekend is OVER!
meal #4:

WOW, you had ice cream TWICE?!?!??!??!?! :worship: :worship: You definitely got your free day's worth of goodies! :thumbsup2 Don't worry about it, that is what the free day is for! Now it is out of your system and you are ready to roll! :woohoo:

I've found my body definitely craves food every 3 hours now. Even yesterday if I went more than 3-4 hours, I was starving! Do you have the same thing happen to you even on your free day?

I am so glad you enjoyed your free day!! They are so important in the big scheme it's amazing how free days keep me on track during the week. You're doing great!!

I've been stressin' out lately. Thanks to the hurricanes & tropical storms our property insurer dropped our zip code. Our insurance premiums are doubling. This is the second time our zipcode has been dropped within 2 years. That means - home inspections, paperwork, etc. etc. etc.

We're also switching agents so I had tons of questions to answer. Our new agent must think I'm dumb. He asked me all kinds of questions which I answered without hesitation. Then he asked my ss# & I couldn't for the life of me think of it. I actually had to call him back with the number. The bad thing was I knew dh's # and NOT MINE! :confused3

Today I did 25 minutes of cardio with my step. I miss my jog walks but I want to make sure that my heels are healed. Surprising I find that I eat better when I do my jog walks as opposed to cardio. - Go figure!

Today is my official weigh in day. I was 152.0 lbs. At least I can keep my 25lbs clippie.

Yesterday's meals
#1 protein shake
##2 protein shake
#3 homemade spicy sw soup
#4 homemade spicy sw soup
#5 leftover cheeseburger from Sunday's games! It was calling my name.
#6 lf cheese & 8 pretzels, oj

Today -
#1 protein drink w/ a banana

Amy, I find that, especially in the afternoons, I'm looking for that next meal. Free day or not! Sunday I had enough icecream for everyone in the Wish boards put together!

Beth, I certainly got my moneys worth from my free day! Hopefully, I won't be so extreme next week. They do keep me from straying during the week. I just keep thinking I can have my pizza or nachos on Sunday.

Sounds like you're doing AWESOME!!! Keep it up and you'll be at goal quickly.

What kind of protein shakes do you drink? Most I think are pretty yucky.

What a hassle with the insurance! I guess that is the price you pay for living on the coast, huh? Bummer! You should move to AZ. They don't charge you extra for extreme heat and droughts... :lmao:

I am so glad the SuperBowl is on Sunday :cheer2: We are having a party and I will definitely treat myself to a couple goodies!!! :teeth:

You will be back under 150 in no time, keep it up! :yay:

Its great to be up to Wednesday. My workout - upper body weights - went quickly today.

Yesterday's meals
#2 2 slices of turkey breast w/ cranberry sauce
#3 baked potato w/ 2 lc lf cheese wedges
I neglected my veggies yesterday.

I made tilapia with a lemon wine caper sauce last night for dh. I also fixed shrimp w/ cocktail sauce & a huge salad. I just didn't feel like eating that at 7:30pm so I opted for 10 pretzels with 2 laughing cow wedges. I think I'll have some of the tilapia - maybe a wrap - for my lunch today. Tonight we're grilling chicken for chicken fajitas.

Julie, the brand I use is called Shapeworks. I have the shake mix & protein powder. Sometimes I mix both products together and sometimes I just use one or the other. I used to get out the blender & mix with frozen fruit. Now, I just add oj and water, put the lid on and shake it until it mixes up.

Amy, I found the Butter Buds. I'm looking forward to trying them this week. Have fun at your party. Those superbowl parties are my downfall. Between the chili, the appetizers & the margaritas its not a good place for me! And someone always brings homemade cookies.

I have to keep reminding myself not to get satisfied where I am & give up. I've got to take things one day at a time. I had a great jog walk today. I wanted to be out there for about 22 minutes. I ended up spending 30 minutes jogging. The time just flies by when I'm out there. I wish I could jog everyday. Its by far my favorite workout.

Yesterday I listened to the BFL audio tape before I had to return it to the library. He was talking about the Free Day. He said it actually boosts your metabolism. If we ate the same 7 days a week our metabolism would start going down because our body would get used to the lower calories. By having one day where we boost those calories our metabolism doesn't start shutting down. So I don't feel so bad about my free day now.

My weigh in today was 149.6!!!!! I'm a happy camper. Now I just need to hang onto that loss until next Tuesday. 4.6 more pounds and I'll be normal and not overweight anymore according to my BMI.

Yesterday's meals:
#1 protein shake w/watermelon slice
#2 tilapia w/ lime mayo, 2 lf moz cheese
#3 baked potato w/ butter buds, nf sourcream & 1 lc cheese wedge
#4 2 lf moz cheese

As you can see I underdid the veggies and overdid the cheese. I also didn't combine the complex carb with my protein like I'm supposed to do. I found that I had to cut my tilapia in half to eat a portion thats the size of my hand.

Today's meal
#1 1/2 breakast wrap w/eggwhites, green onions, lf cheese wedge, 2 veggie sausage links - I made one wrap and dh & I split it.
I also had fresh papaya - 1/3 C

Amy, thanks for the info on the Butter Buds. I'll have to get in some sweet potatoes to try it on.

Yesterday dh talked to one of our friends who goes to the same superbowl party we go too. Its going to be crowded this year. When we first started going about 7 years ago about 8 people would show up. Now, we're up to 20. That means more food to tempt me. Every year the buffet gets bigger and bigger. They always make margaritas but I'm wondering if wine is lower in calories. I may bring some and stick with that for the evening. I'm trying to have a plan where I can eat what I want but not overdo it. I want to find the middle ground.

You will do great at the SuperBowl party! It is your free day! :cool1: Wine is better for you than margaritas, unless you use the Sugar Free margarita mix (which you can get at HiHealth). Believe me, I've done my research in this area... ;)

I know exactly what you mean about going totally overboard on the free day. I think my plan last week to try to stick around 2000 calories was a good one and that will be my guideline. That way, if I want cheesecake :lovestruc I can have it, but I will have to cut back on the sweets for the rest of the day. Take some healthy stuff with you to the party, but enjoy a little taste of whatever you want. :thumbsup2

That is AWESOME about your weigh-in!!! :hyper: I bet you can't wait to be "normal" again!

I'm glad you like the Butter Buds. I can't live without them, I use them on steamed veggies, potatoes, rice...

Today was lower body weight workout.

Yesterday's meals
#2 tilapia wrap
#3 spicy jack cheese & 2 mocha bars
#4 grilled chicken & one slice of grilled pepper
#5 4 lf cheese slices, 2 slices of peanut butter & jam toast

Don't know what go into me at 9pm last night. I went from bad to worse.

Today
#1 blueberries & chicken fajita - no cheese

Today I'm taking Mom out for dinner. We haven't gone out to eat since I started BFL. I've just got to choose wisely.

Amy, all of this talk about ss# & drivers licenses finally got to ME yesterday. Younger ds got a job but he has to bring in his ss card by Saturday. The last time he had his ss card was last summer when he got a job working for a grocery store. I spent one hour and fifteen minutes searching for that card - my desk, baby books, files, bookshelves, closets. Not only could I not find his card but mine was missing too. I phoned dh to discuss the situation. On my second phone call he remembered - we'd put them away in a safe place so we wouldn't lose them. And sure enough there were all of our cards. Ds was relieved - but not as relieved as me! I couldn't believe that none of us remembered until after an hour and 15 minutes went by. Thank God we found them or I'd still be searching!!! I was totally frazzled.

I went out to eat a couple times and it wasn't as hard as I thought. Go with a plain dish like grilled chicken (nothing with a sauce or breading), and get veggies with no butter. And make sure you don't eat everything they give you - save half for lunch the next day! You will do great!

I'm glad you found your SS cards! I always put stuff in a safe place and then can't remember where the safe place is...

I told DH I want the Eating for Life book for Valentine's Day. I guess there are a bunch of recipes in there and from all the reviews I read, they are easy to prepare, no weird ingredients. My kind of cookbook!

Could you please tell me how to make fajitas? It always sounds so good when you have them, I want to make some!

Hey Jane! Great job on the weigh-in :thumbsup2

I've been very busy the last few days and haven't had a chance to check in with anyone. Sounds like you've got a good plan for the superbowl party.

OMG about the SS cards. My DS 16 just got a job, he goes for training on Sunday, and he needs his also. I know his number, but no clue where the actual card is. Heck, that thing's been around for 16 years, how am I supposed to know where I put it? Like Amy, I put things away for safe keeping - but TOO safe. :lmao:

I need to check out those butter buds. Sound good.

Have a fun weekend! :sunny:

We're in week 5!!! I haven't missed one workout yet!! :cheer2:

Friday's dinner when I took Mom out was mixed. We went to an Amish style restaurant. I ordered a cup of chili, pistacio salad (which was the side item that day) & peanut butter pie. I thought the salad would be lettuce leaves with veggies & pistacios. No such luck. It was one of those green whipped things with lots of fluff, marshmellows & pineapple (and a few pistacios - but there were lots more marshmellows than pistacios.)

I ate 1/4 of the salad, a cup of chili, split the pie with Mom & even then we didn't finish it.

Saturday was really bad. I went to work. And guess who was there? Mrs. Fields. When I lived in LA I used to visit her cookie store every week. Someone brought in a huge box of her cookies. I sampled everything! I didn't realize how much I missed those cookies. Fortunately these were the small cookies. I had choc chip, macadamia nut, peanut butter & the brownies were out of this world. AAcckck!!!! With the cookies I had turkey, peas & carrots & garlic mashed potatoes.

Dinner was fajitas.

Sunday I started out with a protein shake for breakfast & snack, lunch at 1pm was corned beef & cabbage - thankfully, Mrs Fields was all gone, at 3pm I had a graham cracker.

Dh & I were supposed to go out to Chili's. I got home before he did. I was hungry so I decided to make quesadillas. He got home at 6:10pm & was upset that I had cooked but I just didn't want to wait to eat. I was starving.
I also had 3 rum and cokes.

Today I had a protein shake for breakfast.

My weight was 152.3. Today I did an upper body workout.

I have to get a handle on my food! The first 3 weeks were easy - now I'm messing up big time.

Amy, the fajitas are really easy. I marinate them in a ziplock bag with salsa & garlic. Then throw them out on the grill with a couple of green peppers which are seeded & cut in half. The peppers take almost as long to cook as the chicken does. While they're grilling, I saute onions in olive oil. I also throw tortillas in my oven at a low heat for for a couple of minutes. Next, I lay out little bowls with chopped green onions, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, salsa & guacamole. Then I slice the chicken & cut the peppers. Everyone grabs their own tortilla and makes up the fajitas. With the leftovers I like to make quesadillas or nachos.

Amy, if you find any good recipes in the book, let me know!

Kate, its a pain having these ss cards from infancy on. It was much easier when I was a kid - you didn't get your card until you had your first job. For me that was 16 so my parents never had to worry about keeping track of my card. I hope you find your son's card. It'll be where you least expect it!

I see I'm not the only one who is getting really lax in the food department. This week we WILL get back on track - 100% BFL eating! You are off to a great start with the protein shake for breakfast. Remember to plan out the next day's meals so you are not tempted to stray. Keep the eye on the prize this week - SuperBowl party goodies on your free day! :teeth:

Mrs. Fields is evil, the cookies are so good and addicting! There must be some kind of illegal substance in them... :rolleyes1

You are doing so great with your workouts! :thumbsup2

We can do this!!!!!!!! I'm a week behind yall on the officially back on but I can tell you from experience it does get easier!

The cookbook is awesome IMO-there are some strange recipes in there though but the great majority are not and they are soooooo easy to make.

I got sick today. :sad2: My day started well enough. I had a meeting with our accountant, a dentist appointment & lunch with my neighbor. I felt great but did NOT do my workout first thing because of my schedule. I figured I'd get it in later. After lunch out with my neighbor, I came home and started doing invoices. After 30 minutes at home I had the worst stomach ache. It lasted for about two hours, then I got chills & ached from head to toe. I went to bed and when I got up about 3 hours later I felt fine but very fatigued. I don't know if I had a virus or what. My neighbor didn't get sick - we swapped appetizers, I gave her one of my quesadillas and she gave me a crabcake but I only ate 1/2, so I don't think it could be food poisoning.

Anyway this is the first day I missed my workout. I still feel headachey. My brother was very sick this weekend so don't know if this is related or not.

Monday's meals
#2 chicken rollup with honey mustard & lowfat cheese
#3 chicken fajita, lc dessert choc chip sundae
#4 lc dessert - key lime pie

Tuesday I skipped breakfast
#1 1/2 crabcake w/ tartar sauce, 3/4 quesadilla - no wonder I get sick!!! The crabcake was fried & I've been known to get very sick on fried food before. Sometimes it bothers me and sometimes it doesn't. Usually if I have something fried I try to eat a salad & bread first.

#2 two bowls of homemade tortilla soup - I panfried the tortilla slices in garlic oil to put into the soup

My weigh in was 151 so I lost that pound I gained last week.

Amy, you're right about Mrs Fields cookies. I'm so glad we don't have the stores here! Those were the best cookies.

Beth, I'm glad this does get easier. I've just got to get back on track!

Yikes, I hope you are feeling better today! It is tough to stay on track when you are feeling icky - all you want to do is eat comfort food!

You will get back on track, today is the first day of Feb and we are going to show our bodies who's boss! :cool1:
