Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Week one is done!!!!!!

So glad I finished one week. Today is my free day. On the BFL board they cautioned others not to eat crazy on your free day because it will only hold you back in the long run. When I lost weight before I would have one free MEAL a week. Usually I'd have chicken fajita nachos and 2 glasses of white zinfadel. It was enough of a treat that I didn't feel like I was suffering but not enough to mess up my diet.

Tampa Bay lost. They're out for the season. We're cheering for Indianapolis now because their coach used to be ours.

I called on an infomercial, & I hope its an honest place. I bought a pair of Slim & Fit undergarments. I have a pair of something similiar that I bought at Ross 3 or 4 years ago. I've never seen them since, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to buy a pair. The spiel is you buy one pair & get one free for 2 charges on your cc of $19.95 plus s&h.

First off, a guy answered the phone - I almost hung up at that point. Guess I am politically incorrect. Ater he got my cc # he kept doing spiels to get me to buy more. One of the "deals' was for $25 more you can get 5 more or 10 more slim & fit. EAch time I'd say no he'd go to a different card & read a different "deal". I almost cancelled the dang order. FINALLY, he wrapped the order up. He was very curt with me. He said the order would take 4-6 weeks but for an additonal fee I could place my order at the top of all the other orders. This really annoyed me. I said no - finally the phone call was ended.

I ordered a Large because on the website it said Large was 12-14. However, by the time I get my order I'll probably be a medium! I think I've learned my lesson to only deal with reputable stores. My Walmart order takes about one week,& this company can't possibly be busier than Walmart. When ordering my scales I was hesitant to use a company I'd never used before, & just because this was on tv I called the number. Just be careful of this place - I have a very uneasy feeling about them. I bet HSN or QVC get something similiar in anyway. AACCKK!!!!!! :headache:

lunch: cottage cheese w/shredded apple, cinnamon & 5 PINE NUTS!!!! It was so good - I could probably add 10 and they wouldn't hurt me. The fat grams add up so quickly with those things that I need to be careful. They are so good.

dinner: tilapia, w/1 T of lime mayo: 1T of Miracle Whip, lime juice & green onions, baked potato w/lf cheese, green beans & carrots. I think I kind of overdid dinner - either the potato with the lf cheese or the lime mayo - not both. Dinner I separated - I ate the veggies & potato and an hour later had the fish.

Last night while watching the game I had a couple mimosas - but no food. I probably should have had a protein shake along with the drinks.

YAY!!!! You got through Week 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  I am with you, I am not going to totally binge all day today just because it is a free day. I am still going to eat 5 small meals, I am just not going to worry about having a couple Hershey's Kisses (maybe 2-3, NOT 10!) and I'll have a serving of chips with my lunch or maybe even go to Baskin Robbins for a single scoop. I don't even WANT to binge, which is SO NICE!!! Thank you for taking this journey with me, it is SO much easier with a BFL buddy!

I bet you can't wait to get your scale to see how much you have lost so far. I have lost 3lbs since Monday. :hyper:

I try to order stuff online. I can't stand those sales pitches! They do it because some people probably order extra junk just because the salesperson mentions it...

Enjoy your free day!!! :flower:

Congratulations on making it through week 1 on BFL!!!!!! Whooooooo hooooooooo!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

Congrats on making it through the first week! That's great! You may convert me to BFL... :teeth:

I can't believe week 2 is starting! This program is moving quickly for me. I like doing something diifferent everyday.

I had a busy day yesterday. We ended up going out for brunch - 2 mimosas, eggs benedict, 1T of fresh fruit (garnish), homefries. Then dh & I split a chocolate flourless cake w/ raspberry sauce. It was delicious.

Afterwards, we visited with some neighbors. They asked what I was doing that I was looking thinner. That made me feel great, especially since I'd seen them over the holidays.

I wasn't hungry until about 4:30pm after the big brunch. I had about 1/2 grilled chicken breast, carrots & green beans, baked potato w/2 lowfat cheese wedges.

9pm: pretzels and 2 lowfat cheese wedges

Today's workout - lower body weights. I added in 3 lower body exercises that I use with my workout ball to get to 45 minutes.

Meal 1: oj w/ protein & glutamine

Amy, I wish the scales at my grocery store would get fixed. I'd like to see if I've dropped any weight yet. It'll be nice to get my own scales. Congrats on the 3lbs you lost this past week!

Beth & Jennz, thanks for stopping by. I love the encouragement!

I bet you are down at least a couple lbs! You did great on your free day. You ate what you wanted and didn't go too overboard. So far this program has been pretty easy to stick to, don't you think?

That is awesome that your friends noticed that you look thinner! And I know you have been feeling great about yourself, which makes it so much easier to continue on the path to success.

Keep it up! Week #2 will be a breeze! :cool1:

I made chili yesterday but instead of grabbing the chili powder I grabbed cinnamon. I didn't realize it until I had a bowl. Fortunately, I don't use much chili powder - instead I add in tabasco & habanaro sauce - but I could taste it. The bad thing is dh hates cinnamon. So, there I was, adding in more garlic, salt, pepper, seasoning salt, tabasco sauce - anything to take away from the cinnamon flavor. It added a smoky background flavor but fortunately dh couldn't taste it.

I used ground turkey breast, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, poblano pepper, 1 onion, kidney beans, black beans, chopped tomatoes & tomato sauce. I had chili for lunch (2 bowls) & dinner (1 bowl) & a cup of chili for my 8pm meal. I made sure NOT to get any Italian bread or chedder cheese- thats just too tempting for me. My snack before lunch was 2 lf string cheese & 1 banana.

My workout today went longer than I realized. I alternated jog walks - 1 minute jog, 1 minute walk, 3 minute jog, 2 minute walk - alternate repeating for 21 minutes. Plus a small warm up and cool down. I was out for 35 minutes when I thought I was out for 25 minutes. I try to minimize my jogging time because I don't want to get heel spurs again.

Breakfast today: 1 bowl of oatmeal, skim milk, 1/2 banana, oj & water w/protein & glutamine.

Thanks Jennz, its so much easier to stay on program now than it was in December. Thanks for cheering me on!

Amy, yes its been easy to stay on program with BFL. I don't have to worry about saving calories for dinner. The protein shakes have helped too - they're low in fat but the protein keeps me from feeling hungry. Sometimes I'll have an actual shake and sometimes just add 1T of protein to my oj. Either way, they keep me feeling full for a couple of hours.

The exercise program also moves quickly. Everyday changes so I'm not in a rut. I decided to get back into jogging, & I love getting outside 3 days a week. The time flies during my morning jog. Knowing that I only have to get in 20 minutes helps too. In fact, I usually find myself going over the 20 minutes.

I didn't tell anyone that I was going on BFL except for dh. HE knew because of the recipes & the workout changes. It was nice that other people noticed. Now I'm nervous about getting that scale in. This is the longest that I've gone without getting weighed so I don't know how I'm actually doing. At the grocery store yesterday I asked one of the cashiers about the scale, & she said people are still complaining that its not fixed - so I didn't even bother getting on the scales. It bugs me not knowing what I weigh.

 155.6!!!! Just got my scale in tonight. Thats over 3lbs lost during 9 days on the program.

Woo hoo!! Congratulations!!  And that's 3 pounds of fat - not counting the muscle you're building!

WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I am hoping to see that kind of loss on my scale on Monday!

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :cool1:  :cheer2:

What a motivator to stay on track. You are doing great, keep it up!

I just lost my post after finishing it!!!! :badpc: Here I go again!

I weighed myself again this a.m. & I've lost almost 2 more lbs. Yesterday I weighed myself in the afternoon when the scale arrive. Today I jumped out of bed first thing to weigh in. My weight was 153.8! Must've been water weight from that chili yesterday afternoon.

I not only have lost 5 lbs but got to reclaim my "25lbs lost" siggie.

Continuing my meals from yesterday:
#2: ff cottage cheese, 1 shredded apple, 9 pinenuts & cinnamon
#3: chili on a bed of lettuce, 1/2 potato w/1 lf cheese wedge

After #3 I was stuffed and didn't eat again.

My workout was upper body 45 minute today. It got interrupted when the cat snuck out of the house with the dog. I managed to find the cat & finish my workout in 45 minutes!

Beth, Jennz & Amy, as always thanks so much for your help & support. It has seen me thru some tough times like Thanksgiving, Christmas & NYE when I was stuck!

WTG at reclaiming your tag!!!!!! I'm so glad you found your cat. My cats are getting to the point they try to dive out the door when we come in-sorry kitties we've figured out the ploy and it doesn't work. :) They do get outdoor time but not enough in their opinions.

That is so great!  I use my right out of bed, after potty, naked weight as my baseline. I always weigh myself before I go to bed and 9 times out of 10 I am 2 lbs lighter than the bedtime weight the next morning. Sometimes it is only 1lb less, but usually 2.

You are doing great on your workouts! Congrats on getting that clippie back! I am still trying to get my very 1st 5lb one...

My dog likes to bolt out the front door. And trying to catch him is like trying to tackle a greased pig. He's a fast little runt!

According to the scales I lost a little over another lb. This a.m. I was 152.2 but I'm not adding that to my signature yet.

Yesterday's food:
meal #1: breakfast burrito, 1 apple
meal #2: bowl of chili
meal #3: celery stick w/ 2 lf cheese sticks
meal #4 1/2 salmon patty w/rice, peas & mushrooms

Made it to 4 meals yesterday!

Todays workout was timed jog walks. I was out for 30 minutes total.

Beth, we try to do the same thing with out cat - giving her outdoor time. Usually, when we're eating breakfast out on the patio we'll let her out for 10-25 minutes. She looks so funny because we put a collar with a bell and a leash on her & let her run around. She's fearless & we've caught her several times climbing the fence to get out. My neighbor's cat never leaves her yard, and won't go outside unless one of my neighbor's is out with her. Do you ever have trouble getting yours back inside?

Amy, LOL! I really like being able to weigh first thing in the morning. Its a big motivator. Can you believe we're actually doing this? It won't be long until you've got that 5lb clippie.

I remember when my dog was a puppy. From 9 months to a year and a half we had trouble with her trying to get away. She'd always run to my son's best friends house. Once she got over a year and a half old she never did that again. Watch out for those teenaged dog years - they're the worst!

I'm glad to see you are getting more meals in! Pretty soon you'll be up there with 6! I think if my scale had a decimal point I would go insane. It's bad enough with all the 1lb fluctuations, I don't think I could stand the tenths fluctuations! :rotfl:

I am SO happy we are succeeding with BFL! And just think - we are only on Week #2. Imagine how much weight we will have lost by the end! Keep it up, you are really doing a great job with your eating and working out!

Oh yes the fun of getting the cats back in the house. Pooh hates being outside so he'll run in when the door opens. Simba will go in hissing and meowing and biting. Our cats wear harnesses all the time because they figured out how to get the collars off and just in case they got out I wanted my phone number on them. There have been a couple of times that Simba's harness has come off but he will bring it to me and sit there until it's back on. I think he feels naked without it now. :)

Great job on the continued losses!!!!!

We're on day 5 of week 2!!!! :cool2: Only one more workout for me this week! Today was a 45 minute upper body workout.

My weight was 152.8 today.

Yesterday's meals:
#1 protein shake, apple
#2 salmon w/ rice, peas & mushrooms
#3 celery stick, w/ 2 lf cheese sticks
#4 tuna wrap, rice, peas & mushrrooms
#5 5 mini pretzels w/2 LC lf cheese wedges

Got in 5 meals yesterday!

Amy, I can't believe we're almost finished with week 2. These 2 weeks have gone by quickly. You're right about those tenths fluctuations - they can drive ya nutz!

Omigosh Beth, hissing!! I thought my cat was bad. Thats hilarious. They're so cute & so bad. Mine does however, come in fussin', fightin' & bitin'. Then she meows for 3 or 4 minutes. Your cat sounds really smart coming back to you to get the harness put back on. At least we get in extra aerobics chasing them down!

Wow, you are almost in the 140's!!! I bet you will be there for sure by the end of the month. That is awesome! You are really doing great, I am so glad BFL is working for you. And of course the more you lose, the easier it is to stick to it...

Do you have any plans for your free day? I am not going to go overboard with the sweets like last weekend, I just plan on playing it by ear and maybe having pizza for dinner. :goodvibes
