Ok, so I am going to start this journal because I'm not doing so well. This week I did 500 minutes of exercise and still gained 1.5lbs. We won't even talk about how badly I ate today, even though I swore I was going to get on track. I keep telling myself I can start tomorrow but I'm not following through. These boards have been helping to hold me accountable, so I'm going to take another step.

Negatives about today--Finished up the Christmas candy just to get it out of my house. Between that and meals, I have used about eight flex points (today is the first day of my week).

Positives about today--I did go to the gym and I will drink at least 100oz of water.

Ok, so now I've started.

Glad to see you've started a journal! You've taken a very positive step in the right direction. Now that the evil Christmas candy has been removed from temptation, it's now time to start back on the weight loss wagon!

Thanks Desiree! Today was a much better day. I did have a Hershey Kiss at work, but one kiss is way better than the whole bag!

Meals for today (I'm a picky eater, so my food might seem strange, but it is within my points)

Breakfast: None
Lunch: Michalena's stroganoff--7 points
Snack: 2 two point Snack Packs--4 points
Dinner: One chicken breast/chicken parmesan Olive Garden-9 points?
2 breadsticks-6 points
1/2 of spaghetti--4 points
Total: 30 points

I currently get 28 points a day but will go to the gym for 90 minutes tonight and get two exercise points! Today I will stay within my points and drink all of my water!

Hi Jana! Great news that your Christmas candy is gone, now it will get easier and easier...Did you make it to the gym last night?
 

Hi, jen. Yep, I made it to the gym (I had to earn those activity points I had already used!) My knee hurt because of the rainy weather, so the exercise was harder but I toughed it out and did my ninety minutes.
The good news is that the 1.5 lbs I gained are gone after this morning!

Good for you sticking with it and not using your knee as an excuse! WTG! And congrats on being down 1/5! :cheer2:

Thanks, jennz and twotoohappy! I'm feeling a little more motivated now that the scale has moved back to 6/5 for December--and there are two days left.

Today:

Breakfast: Two Pop Tarts-8 points
Lunch: Leftover chicken parmesan-9 points?
Fat Free Devil's Food Chocolate Pudding-2 points
Supper: Tomato Soup-4 points
Twenty Crackers--4 points
One can of tuna--2 points
Total: 29

Excercise--23 minutes on the elliptical (I hate that machine!)
23 minutes on the treadmill
30 minutes on the bike
Total: 76 minutes=1 exercise point
I stayed in my points today! Two days in a row!

Tomorrow will be harder. My mom and I are going to a library about an hour away to do genealogy. We will have fast food for lunch, but I'm ready for it!

How was your lunch today? I think the major thing for me at fast food is to know what I'm getting before I walk in that door!

Are you researching your own family or doing something else?
 
Hi everyone. Jennz--I am researching my maternal roots. We've done a lot of looking and finding names so now we are trying to connect all the pieces. I really enjoy it. It's like a giant puzzle. Recently we've had some great finds!
As far as lunch goes, I knew what I wanted, I looked up the points and planned my other so-called meals around it!

Today:
Breakfast: two Pop Tarts--8 points
Lunch: One Roast beef sandwich-10 points
small curly fries--7 points
Supper/Snack--two 100 calorie packs--2 points

Exercise: 85 minutes-1 activity point

Total for today 29 points! Stayed in again. Although, I'm obsessed with the scale and it looks kind of scary tonight. We'll see what happens in the morning.

Ok, today was an okay day until tonight. I hit the gym for 83 minutes which wasn't bad. My foot hurts and I don't know why but that should go away. Then, tonight I was checking out my new health insurance and it seems that my current doctor is no longer on their list of preferred providers! We also got a letter from Human Resources telling us which hospital in the area are covered, but they are not listed on the company's website. Aaaargh. This new plan is bizarre. So now I'm eating some cereal. I know, it's emotional eating, but at least it is cereal and not pizza or ice cream or something evil.

Uggh! Sorry to hear about the new Health Insurance. I hate it when they make changes like that. Maybe if you call your doctor. Sometimes they don't send their information in right away for booklets, etc. Just check with one of his staff members to see if they will accept the new one.

Great job on the exercising! I need to get my behind in gear. New year, new start!

Great job recognizing your emotional eating and making a better choice. :teeth: Also super job on the exercise! Is your foot better today?

Desiree and Jenn-The insurance situation got worse before it got better! I called my doctor and he is definitely not covered, but they are still "negotiating." I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and stay healthy until they come to an agreement. Yesterday I get to work and find out from several people that NONE of the hospitals in Peoria are covered. The closest one is about 45 minutes away! Of course, we're all up in arms and emailing the head honchos right and left. At the end of the day we get an email saying that it was a "glitch" in their computer system and two of the hospitals ARE covered. They have sent an alert to their customer service representatives so they'll give us the correct information. It was complicated and frustrating, but has a decent result.

Tuesday was my free day, so I had pizza for dinner. Even with that, I only used 3 flex points. My free days are getting less and less free. I also exercised for 90 minutes.

Wednesday I only had 26 points! And I exercised for 90 minutes! That means I had four more points that I did not use! And it helped, today the scale was down 1.5lbs. It's not official weight in day, but I'll certainly take it!

If anyone is interested, my coworkers have discovered Paninis by Lean Cuisine and seem to LOVE them. I'll probably get some at the grocery store tomorrow.

Today was a better day at work. A little stressful and busy, but the day just flew by!

I made today my day off from the gym because I thought I wanted to see Dancing with The Stars. Anyway, I ate 26 points again--two points i did not use!! I also drank my 100 oz of water. The scale looks great tonight, we'll see what happens tomorrow!

Thanks, Desiree! This is the first time I have stayed within my points so consistently for a very long time! Usually I eat bad all week, then work hard Sunday and Monday before weigh in Tuesday morning. Not anymore though.

We started a little support group at work. There are eight of and we each chipped in 5 dollars to join/defray te cost of a scale. Every week we pay 50 cents. For any pounds we gain, that's another fifty cents. At the end of the month, the biggest loser gets all the money in the jar. I have so say I don't care so much about winning the big money, but I'll be darned if I am going to pay anthing extra!! :flower:

Today I ate thirty points. I did do ninety minutes at the gym, once again, within points today! I keep telling myself that I will not eat the Nabisco 2 point chocolate chip cookies, I will not eat the string cheese and I will not eat the baked potato chips that I bought today. They will be saved for lunches, not ridiculous snacks!

That's an awesome idea that you guys put into place at your job! I may try to implement that at work also. Of course, I don't usually have a problem at work, it's at home and the weekends that are my weaknesses.

Did your Bears have a bye week this week? My Bucs lost. :sad:
 
I haven't checked in for a few days. I've just been very busy at work and what have you. Life has been frustrating. I try to get along with people. I really do, I just want to be nice and friendly and get along. It never fails that wherever I go, the "cool crowd" doesn't like me. Seriously, from grade school until now (I'm 35!), it's been tough. I'm not sure how to change that. Don't get me wrong, I don't care to be part of the "cool crowd" but I don't want people to hate me either. :sad1:

Anyway, everyone lost weight at our work weigh in yesterday! It was great! Today I dropped to 26 points. Thus far I have had 25.5. It's 6:45 and I am going to have to refrain from eating for the rest of the night. If I could go to the gym it would be easier, but I'm still resting my foot. People need to post fast tonight so I'll have something to do!

I don't like vegetables. I realize that in order to eat health I should eat fruits and veggies. I can do the fruit, but not the veggies. Any suggestions?
I should stop whining now--it's just one of those nights. Generally, I would be eating to cope with the stress, so tonight I am dealing with people stress and not being able to eat stress. Aaargh!

Things got better at work. I talked to my supervisor and she said not to worry about the complaints because we are a totally different department and the others will have to deal with that. It was helpful to hear that she is prepared to go to bat for my schedule.

I've stayed within my points Wednesday and Thursday. Today I am going to use two flex points. It is hard when you have a day off work! I stayed home today to rest my foot and thought about eating all day. I think getting by with two flex points is pretty darn good.

Tomorrow I go back to the gym--at least for a short workout.
