We are planning an end of Jan. or early Feb. 2003 trip to WDW. We've been to WDW several times and usually stay offsite. This will be our first time to stay on property. Does anyone have any thoughts on a good resort hotel to stay at without breaking the bank? Does anyone know of any good rates or are there any codes available for this time? If there are any codes for this time of year, how do you go about using them. Also any thoughts on the DD hotels

I just booked the ASMu for $49 a night with the AP discount. I compared what the 6 day hopper + would be for us and how much the AP discount for the hotel would be and I SAVED $12 over AAA discounted room rate and got an AP. Yes, we don't have the plus features, but in Feb. we probably won't need them.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply Tiggermom. I don't have an AP, can I still get that discount rate without one.

Hi Scott,

Yes, you can call for the discount without having the AP now, but you'll need to show a valid adult AP when you check in. (You'll only need to purchase one adult pass, though.)

Hope that helps!

What is an AP?

I just booked ASMu for Feb 12th-17th and my rate is twice yours.
I also have 5-Day park hoppers for me n dd.
I thought I had a good deal until I saw your rate.

I'm a first timer at WDW, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

AP is an annual pass. You use it to get into all the parks for 365 days. You can also get some terrific rates, as you've seen, with one. You do not have to have one in hand when you make the ressie but you do have to have it to show when you check in. And only one person needs to have the AP, the person booking (at least that's what I understand). If you add up what your room and passes are costing you without the pass, and then add up what the room would be with the AP rate, add one AP. and add in the rest of your park passes. If you end up spending less with the AP, then you're ahead of the game. So, if you are paying say, $89 for an All Stars room and you could get the room for $49 with the AP, that's $40 less a night. If that makes up for the difference in the cost of the AP vs. 1 park hopper, then go for it. Hope this makes sense.:D

an ap is an annual pass
they give a special rate if you have an annual pass
only one person in your party has to have it
you may want to check out the ap prices
especially if you may make another trip within a year
even 11 + months apart it's a pretty good deal

FYI you can upgrade your 5 day pass to an AP for the difference of the original purchase price minus used days vs. the AP. It may save you money to get just one AP to get the improved rate. Actually, the difference is $148.40 including tax, so if your rate is really twice the quoted $49 ($54.88 w/tax) for five nights, the savings would be $126. Also, you can return within one year and avoid having to buy one Park Hopper pass and be eligible for discounts again.
