I am going to WDW at some point in Jan or Feb (depending on availability), and wondered what everyone thought of that time of year. I know it can get a bit cold, but I am coming from New York, so the weather will still be much nicer than what I am experiencing.
I am planning more of a golf, relaxing vacation. I will hit the parks (MGM for sure - did not hit it last time down), but more to just hang out and relax.
I am going to take whatever resort has availability as I am booking with holding points - but, it is still Disney so I dont really care where I stay.

. However, the days were in the low 60's so you could still enjoy the parks during the day. Plus the parks close earlier so the cold weather isn't really a problem, as you can spend your evenings at one of the many great restaurants throughout Disney.
We love January. Light crowds, occasional closures of rides. In 2007 we're going early February, but don't anticipate it being much different. We enjoy the lighter crowds, and (also) being from New York, we never felt it was "too cold". No problem carrying a sweatjacket along. We do however, take it easy on the rides where you can get wet. That makes it feel a lot colder. Good suggestion if you decide to go is to take a spare backpack with a jacket or two (or even a change of clothes for kids), leave it in a locker by the front of each park and you'll have something warm not too far away if the temperature turns when you're in the park.
It's a very damp cold, and when the wind blows, it's very uncomfortable. (I've been in Fla during Jan/Feb for the past 8 years or so.) I have experienced windchills of 18 degrees and frost on the car's windshield--so please be prepared for cold. Hats, mittens, etc. may be needed. I was there with a friend of mine one year, and people were actually offering her money for her down jacket.
Have fun!
