I am going to WDW at some point in Jan or Feb (depending on availability), and wondered what everyone thought of that time of year. I know it can get a bit cold, but I am coming from New York, so the weather will still be much nicer than what I am experiencing.

I am planning more of a golf, relaxing vacation. I will hit the parks (MGM for sure - did not hit it last time down), but more to just hang out and relax.

I am going to take whatever resort has availability as I am booking with holding points - but, it is still Disney so I dont really care where I stay.

We have only gone in January, not February. Parks close earlier during this time, we don't golf, but we use these vacations to do some off site visits. We always visit a state park, Blue Springs in Orange City FL. There are warm springs there where manatees spend time in the winter. One MLKjr. weekend we were there on a day when 30+ manatees were too!

We also enjoy seeing Illuminations without the crowds of the other times of the year. We've gotten dinner at the Castle without reservations. I always do check out the movie schedule at Ft. Wilderness before we leave from home, there may be something there that we're interested in seeing. The campfire music is fun.

I've gone both Jan & Feb-- If you go in Jan (except for MLK holiday weekend) you will have light crowds. (The Disney Marathon is going on the weekend of the 6th of Jan too.)

If you go the 1st week in Feb you will also have light crowds, but it does get crowded after that. We are going Feb 10-16 (the week before Presidents weekend & week which is really crowded)and I;m hoping the crowds won't get too bad until after Feb 15.

The weather is always unpredicatable -however, once we were down in the beginning of Feb and it went down to 30 degrees at night. However, people were still swimming :confused3 . However, the days were in the low 60's so you could still enjoy the parks during the day. Plus the parks close earlier so the cold weather isn't really a problem, as you can spend your evenings at one of the many great restaurants throughout Disney.

:wave2: We love January. Light crowds, occasional closures of rides. In 2007 we're going early February, but don't anticipate it being much different. We enjoy the lighter crowds, and (also) being from New York, we never felt it was "too cold". No problem carrying a sweatjacket along. We do however, take it easy on the rides where you can get wet. That makes it feel a lot colder. Good suggestion if you decide to go is to take a spare backpack with a jacket or two (or even a change of clothes for kids), leave it in a locker by the front of each park and you'll have something warm not too far away if the temperature turns when you're in the park.

Either way - Enjoy!

I love sweatshirt and shorts weather. January is one of our favorite times!

we went in feb '05 and enjoyed wonderful weather! we went again in feb '06 and didn't really enjoy the coldest feb floridians had seen in 20 years! hoping for more of the '05 weather when we are there in feb '07! we always go the week before pres. week - crowds are manageable, we love spending valentine's day somewhere in the world [we make our 2/14 adr well in advance], and we usually leave really serious winter weather behind in n.j.!

As a fellow NYer, I must tell you that it can get very cold in WDW during this timeframe. :cold: It's a very damp cold, and when the wind blows, it's very uncomfortable. (I've been in Fla during Jan/Feb for the past 8 years or so.) I have experienced windchills of 18 degrees and frost on the car's windshield--so please be prepared for cold. Hats, mittens, etc. may be needed. I was there with a friend of mine one year, and people were actually offering her money for her down jacket.

It is a great time to visit, though! :woohoo: Have fun! :cool1:

I went this last January from the 20th to the 31st. It was sunny and warm (70's to 80) every day. Of course, we had the obligatory one day of rain.
