My DH and I will be camping at the Fort Jan 30-Feb 5, 2010. What can we expect? Weather, crowds. We would like to be in the 1500 loop anything we need to know about that?

Crowds will be very low. ;)

Weather will mostly be warm (70s-80s) but there's always the chance a night or two will get chilly. Most of our late January/early February trip days were shorts and t-shirts.

It's a fantastic time to go but just don't tell anyone. We don't want it to get too crowded. :thumbsup2

We visited WDW late January to early February 06-09 and loved it! Low crowds and perfect weather. Be prepared to dress in layers. (We're going in September this year...it's gonna be HOT, HOT, HOT!)

1500 is a partial so I am assuming you will have a pop-up and/or tent? I'm certain you're gonna love it! You may even decide FW is the only place to stay while at WDW.

I won't tell anyone, if you promise not to tell the inlaws that live in Tampa that we are coming, we are not planning on seeing them this trip

yes we have a small camper. I stayed at the Fort as a child with my family and loved it, but my husband who grew up in Tampa has never stayed there. We normally go in August for our birthdays and anniversary, but this may become a every year thing.

You can expect me to be there! (Jan 26th - Feb 5th) :thumbsup2

It's a great time of year to visit. Although we are prone to the occasional cold snap, the weather is usually pretty good - just light jacket weather. Crowds are pretty good as well.

The only time I've been during Jan/Feb was about 10 years ago, and if I remember, the crowds were light and the weather was a bit chilly.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but one of the reasons I've never scheduled a trip during this time is b/c I wonder about the pools. I know they're heated, and I know it's personal preference (I get cold way too easily!), but do many folks swim during Jan/Feb? For my kids, swimming is one of the best things about vacations, and they'd probably go in whether they turned blue or not! Just wondered what other folks usually find re: pools during the winter. Too cold?

Hope to see you there! We are very excited. What type site have you reserved?

My kids swam all 3 winters we were there. One year, we got the water parks and more (free upgrade) and we went to TL. The kids and DH had a blast with goose bumps and blue lips. I sat curled up in a towel for most of the day.:upsidedow

Yup, that would be me, too! I hadn't even thought about the water parks in the winter. Bet it wasn't too crowded!

No, it wasn't crowded at all.:rotfl: However, we had the longest wait for the bus going to the water park and coming back to the hotel. Because of the lack of people, I think the buses only ran every hour. The things we do for our children!:rolleyes1

Hey, my wife and I will be there also, hope to be staying in the 1800 loop see ya real soon!!!

We go every year in late Jan to early Feb. Last year we froze it was so cold! Other years we swam. Going in 2010 Feb 7-14. The grandsons love it, seems they've inherited our FW addiction. :cool1:

Best Regards!
