Jan AP Rates - Are you Happy?

Well I was a little late making my morning call and it was about 7:30 am when I called. CM said No AP rates for Jan. Call back next month. I thought I should try again at lunch just in case. So I called around 1:00 and a CM said yes, rates were released this morning. So, flexible people that we are we had 2 sets of dates (01/06 to 01/16 OR 01/13 to 01/23) and a variety of resorts (Yacht or Beach Club, WL, AKL, CSR, PO). I was prepared. But alas, it did no good. We could not stay at a single resort for all of the days for either time period with AP rate. And, there were no rooms at Yacht or Beach Club, CR, CSR, PO at all - WL had only honeymoon & concierge which was more than I wanted to spend. So, we are ending up splitting our stay with the first 3 night at CBR & the remainder of the time at AKL standard savannah view. Hope others had better luck than I did. I just read another post where it was suggested that not all rooms are released at the same time. Guess I will continue to make regular calls to see if anything opens up. All I can say is WOW - the rooms sure went fast this round. I always found something in the past for one of our choices especially when we had two sets of dates but not this time.

Keep trying! I called this morning with little luck, then again this afternoon, and then at 6:00pm I got lucky! They had all our nights at the WL in a woods view. We are saving 45% off rack rates! The rack rate is $230 and the AP rate is $126. I took a few calls but it is definately worth it for the savings.

We just booked the AKL Savanna view for $151plus tax. This is a good rate. My only thing is that the rate for concierge went up over $100 a night. For the last two years we paid $277 a night inc taxes. They quoted $345 a night before taxes so that comes out to about $386 inc. tax that is a price increase of over $100 a night. WOW!!!! Demand must have gotten high at $277 so they are going for a new price point but I am going to have to think about it.

DH got 2 rooms at POP at $49. The CM said there were still plenty of rooms available at POP for our time frame. We'll be there Jan 2-8

I can understand that there aren't that many in the deluxes because they have to save up rooms for general public codes too, but moderates I have a hard time understanding that all the rooms are gone unless they have big conventions coming in at the same time frame.

We are going Feb 4th to Feb 12th. We are going during our Mardi Gras break. The good room rates will help me get over our not so great air fare! Definately keep trying CRO to see if more dates and rooms open up.

I am assuming you got the email about the rates today. IF not, they specifically say not available 1/14-16 which could be why you couldn't get the rates for all the nights.

However, it is true that rooms seem to open up at random. I recently tried to make reservations for POFQ for Halloween weekend at the AP rate. This was about 3 weeks ago(kind of last minute). Called one night- no AP rates only water view available for Sat or Sun. I thought about it and called back the next day to take the water view and a standard room at AP had opened up for both days. So keep trying.

There are some form of "blackouts" in place for this AP code for January 14-16, February 3-5 and February 10-12.


According to my CRO person, no values or moderates are available for Jan. 14-16 and only high-end rooms are showing at the deluxes (concierge or suites) and those aren't terribly good discounts. I wanted to splurge, but not at more than $300 a night.

I finally asked her about the Contemporary and got a garden wing room for $150/ night, Jan. 14-16.

This is a holiday weekend, might be the reason for the blackouts. It's not marathon weekend, that's Jan. 9.

I am having problems with a luxury for the nights of 01/06, 01/07 and 01/08. I got standard Savannah view checking in 01/09 and checking out 01/16 so some resorts must be giving AP rates for the nights of 01/14 and 01/15. I just tried again this eve and CM suggested I try again tomorrow. She said she was surprised there is no availability at luxury resorts except concierge or suites and she has been running into that for most of the dates people have been calling for since she started her shift early this afternoon.

It's so strange how everyone gets different answers to questions regarding resorts - Sherry, you mentioned that they had no rooms at PO but when I called at around 5:00 PM or so, we were able to book a standard room at POFQ.
We already had 5 nights booked at CBR for 1/18 - 1/23 and then we booked 5 more nights at POFQ but we had hoped for CSR. I say keep calling - I think I might so that we can find a room at CSR.

I don't know if I should bother trying to call back? We have reservations for POFQ, King room from 1/1 - 1/8 and I would be willing to split the ressie and check back in on 1/2 but I called twice today and they said there was no availability at all. I had them check POR too and both king and standard rooms at both resorts. She said the only thing they had left was concierge at WL and BC. I'm wondering if that's just a really bad time period with the marathon being that weekend.
Sigh... I feel like I've been waiting so long for rates to come out and I'm shut out...

Thanks Sherry I guess when it comes down to it, I'll just be glad to escape what I'm sure will be a nasty PA winter. I see you're in Harrisburg, I'm down the road in Lititz!
I am going to try in the morning for maybe the general public rates. If that doesn't work, I should just work on trying to convince DH into Concierge at the BC! LOL

Hi Mechelina - Nice to meet a central PA neighbor here on the board. Love those wilbur buds that I believe are made in Lititz. There is also info in another post on this board that Disney is not releasing all of the rooms with AP codes at one time. So, you might want to keep checking for both the AP code as well as the new code when it comes out. Let me know how you make out.

I was way happy woth our rates

WL for 121 a night including taxes about 45% off. This is my first time with a AP rate and will not be my last.

Have tried three times so far for POR or POFQ Jan 6-9 at the AP rate with no luck.

Interesting though, on my last attempt I had a lovely CM who was very chatty and told me that sometimes they do not release all of the AP rate rooms at a resort at the same time. She told me to call back daily and see if I had better luck.

Does anyone know when the Florida resident rates might come out for Jan and Feb? I might have to go that way.

We really had our hearts set on PO-FQ for 1/22 - 1/29 but my TA said couldn't get the AP or FL resident rates. She did get the CBR for that time frame & $79/night. So I'm happy about the price but I hear the CBR is so big. I guess I'll ask at check-in for a room as close as possible to the main bldg. We've never been there so I know once I get there we'll probably love it as we've loved all of the other Disney resorts.

I also tried yesterday and today for POFQ for Jan. 8-11 and nothing available. The only moderate available was CB. I can't decide whether to take CB or keep trying for POFQ. I'm afraid I'll end up with no discount.
