our dvc I points will be worthless.

but is it true, most unlimited lifespan timeshares, have any real value, after 50 years.

#1. Not maintained well after 50 years, not enough due paying members
#2. Other new timeshares, have become available, so something extremely popular in 1992, not very attractive in 2042.

please correct me if I am wrong, if anyone has knolwedge in this area.

i meant to state after 50 years, most unlimited lifespan timeshares, have no real economic value.

I think that's only partly true and very much depends on the resort. Some timeshares aren't worth the paper the deed is written on when they're new. Others will be very valuable in 50 years or more. It comes down to quality and location. The top Marriott's are a great example and will have considerable value when DVC is gone. Others, including some that are currently Marriott's, won't be worth the yearly fees.

Pretty sure I will be dead by then, I think that I will have more to worry about than my timeshare expiring. If somehow I make it to 2042, I will be elated at 40 years worth of great family vacations and memories. At that time if I plan on living another 40 years, I will pony up the equivilent of 12K (Probably $1M), and have another great 40 years.

I think the timeshares that are deeded to perpetuity will have very considerable assessments to stay in good repair over 50 years, and therefore will cost the owners considerable dollars to remain owners. JMHO... I will be 91 on Jan 31, 2042.

That will be true for some depending on the upkeep along the way. Places like good oceanfront options, HI and the like will come out OK. DVC would do pretty well also. Others will be exactly as you say and many in far less than 10 years.
