Jan 27, 2008 - 4 night Wonder...shall I start?

Quattro, it's a good thing that you have booked a cabin with a view then:thumbsup2

I'm sure that you will enjoy it.

I know that it is very important to some people to have a balcony and other people don't really care at all.

I guess that is why they have different types of cabins, so that everyone will be happy;)

My son and I are booked on this cruise. This is our first Disney Cruise. We are super excited! I have to admit I am a bit nervous because I am a single mom, is there a lot for adults to do as well? I have a feeling my son will be busier than myself.

Hello and welcome to the cruise and also to the DISboards.

You will find a ton of good information on these boards.

Since most of our 9 Disney cruises have been without children, we have found plenty of things to keep ourselves amused.:)

What kinds of things do you like to do?

How old is your son?

My son is 6 years old and this will be our first trip together alone. My son is very outgoing and we were thinking of doing the dolohin swim. Is it worth it? What else would you recommend?

I think your son is probably a perfect age to be going on the cruise.

There will be lots of things for him to do onboard. The kids clubs look so cool:thumbsup2

I've never cruised with a little one before so I don't have first hand experience but I've looked into the kids clubs and they sure look like they are having a lot of fun to me.

If he doesn't like the kids clubs there is alway swimming and the water slide and the pingpong tables and other deck sports to keep him occupied.

I have never done the dolphin swim so I can't answer any questions on that.

Hi Got Quattro? and victoriap :wave2:

Glad you are joining in!

Looks like most of the children on this thread are close to the same age (4-6). That should be fun!! My DS5 is so excited about the cruise, and tickled that he will have lots of "friends" his same age onboard!

I just viewed a navigator from the 10/14/07 4-day on the castaway club website, and it listed Palo brunch on both the Nassau day and the day at sea! It looks like they may have recently added a second day they serve Palo brunch. I sure hope so, that would certainly increase my chances of getting a ressie!

Oooh! I hope so, too. We probably won't go ashore in Nassau. Went there last year and my scooter is most definitely incompatible with the streets and curbs. My DH said I looked like a Transformer trying to make my escape from the straw market.:)
I'd love to get a ressie for brunch.

The 2nd Palo Brunch would be great, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up (including mine!).

I asked about it on the main cruise board and these are two responses I got from recent cruisers:

"no matter what the navigators say, there was only ONE brunch on the 10/14 4 night"

"we sailed 9-29 and a 2nd brunch was listed also. didn't read it in time to find out for sure"

Also as noted by GEB@okw on this thread there was no second Palo brunch for which advance ressies could be made.

So I'm thinking it doesn't look promising, as I can't imagine DCL not promoting it or taking advance ressies for it and only those that happen to notice it on the navigator and call that day get in, but...... we can still hope, right?!

Maybe they just list on the Nassau day navigator promoting it for the at sea day (not that it seems there are ever any open spots to promote), but on the navigator it does not specify it is for another day, it is listed just as it is on the navigator for the at sea day. I hope that made sense and wasn't completely confusing.

Just noticed this thread on the main cruise board.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1622158

From what folks are reporting on that thread, it looks like a Toy Story show will have replaced the Hercules show by the time we sail.

"Toy Story the Musical, a 55 minute adaptation of the Disney/Pixar film with all-new songs plus the original film's "You've Got a Friend in Me", will premiere on the Wonder in January 2008. It will be replacing Hercules, the Muse-ical."

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. I have a DS4 who loves toy story, but everyone seems to rave about how funny Hercules is. Since we are a 4 night I think they should keep Hercules and test the new show on the variety show night. Sounds like a plan, right? What I can't figure out is why they didn't just start showing the Twice Charmed show on the Wonder instead of creating a new one.

Hey fellow Jan. 27 cruisers, were cc members able to book Palo today or is that early tomorrow?

Maybe DCL think about adding a second brunch at their decretion. Maybe they judge by the people who add their names to a waiting list for brunch and if it gets long enough they add a second one out of the blue! Don't give up hope they do their best to make everyone experience a great one!

As for the new show they have added, Hercules was very good but it will be great to be one of the first to catch the new show out, I'm sure it will be great as usual.

Good luck with everyone who can book tonight, I'm not trying to rub it in for those who can't, believe me!!

just wanted to join in the fun! we'll be there as well, with daughters ages 9 and 6. this is our fourth cruise-can't wait!

Hey fellow Jan. 27 cruisers, were cc members able to book Palo today or is that early tomorrow?

tomorrow for Castaway Club members to make advance reservations.

A new stage show sounds cool.

I love Hercules but after seeing it 8 times, I'm ready for something new:thumbsup2

welcome kcromley :wave2:

I guess I'm one of the few who will be disapointed. I've seen Hercules once on the Magic before they moved it to the Wonder and I was so excited to see it again:sad1: I personally think that Toy Story is for very young audiences and I wish they would have kept the family themes that they've had until now. Actually, I'm very surprised that if they were going to change the show, that they didn't come up with a Finding Nemo story....ocean theme, etc. Or for that matter, a Pirates of the Caribbean show. I guess they also feel that The Little Mermaid has been done enough.

I just made our Palo brunch reservation.

I was given the option of sea day only and two time slots, 10 am and 10:30am.

I also checked out Palo dinner reservations and was given the chance of several times on all nights except Castaway Cay night only had 2 time slots available.

I also just made brunch reservations. I was given 4 time choices on sea day only. The times were 1000-1130, 1030-1200, 1100-1230 and 1130-100. I was also given several choices each day for dinner times, starting at 600 each night for 2 hours and ending at 900 each night, all time slots were open a few minutes ago for me.

Good luck to everyone with your reservations. My only advice is to not sweat it if you don't get anything online, you can always try onboard. This will be our third cruise and we've never eaten at Palo's and we've never tried to. The ship is fabulous and we never felt the need, now that we're more familiar with it, we're ready to try more things.

WDdaughter were you making a reservation for 2 people or more?

I was making reservation for 4, maybe that is why the difference in availability:confused3

I agree about eating at Palo. We didn't eat there until our 8th cruise:confused3

Never felt the need because we enjoyed the other dining options open to us.

Welcome to the new cruisers!!

We booked Palo brunch for 11:00.

I was also wondering if any of you have had any Vista Spa experience and, if so, what would you recommend for my wife?

Sorry! When we started planning it was supposed to be a big family thing, kids, spouses, maybe even a grandchild or two. It just gradually dwindled down to DH and I. (fun, but not what I'd planned)

There's always next year!

Welcome kcromley and WDdaughter!

So glad to see the CC members were able to get the Palo ressies they wanted. Hopefully, there will still be a few left at the 75 day mark.
