Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

You got me again!!! And I was sitting here waiting for someone else to post two posts so I could do three and be #1700.....you turkey!!

last minute thoughts .....
LOL

are you bringing your own laundry detergent? or is it just easier to buy on the ship. Any idea the cost of the machines, etc? Thanks!

Do they have a minimum you have to put on your shipboard account when you check in?

just re-asking from the FB group... can we sign something to tip room service or does it have to be cash?

Thanks, if anyone's still out there. :lmao:

I actually bought the Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets. I was able to stick five of them in a Ziploc bag for less the space of two small of the travel Tide detergent boxes.

I don't remember how much it costs for the detergent or cost per load- but I do know that it just takes your Key to the World card now....no cash involved, so no need to bring quarters.

I also don't know how much is required to have on your Stateroom account- I think you just put a credit card on it, and then pay it off with whatever card (or cash) you want before you get off.

Lynn.......did you call on upgrades today?!?! Interested in hear what you were told......

You are right, the ship does get int at 7:30am....but is the local time different on Grand Cayman like in Cozumel? And what's the deal with that? Is it an hour FORWARD onshore? I should prob know these things before I start downing cocktails at Nachi Cocom. :confused3 (Anyone else reading podsnels TR?) Hilarious!

THere is a time change somewhere in there. They will remind you during the cruise. I am reading that TR too! It is hilarious. THere is another from the same cruise that is just as good!

Thanks. I was in need of a neurologist in the GSP area over the weekend, and I almost called you. I think she'll be going to Emory now, or MUSC.

OMG - you're right!! I will be in Cocoa Beach tomorrow, but not at FishLips until Friday. Friday night is better for table dancing, anyway! :cool1:

Both are excellent hospitals! I worked at MUSC for a little over 5 years, but that was in Urology and as I recall, that's the wrong end for you! LOL

P.S. - If I need two bags (and by "bags" I mean carry-on luggage) to carry all my FE items, does that mean I went overboard? :lmao:

P.P.S. - Is it bad luck to use "overboard" as an analogy right before going on a cruise? Yikes! :scared1:

That's 2 bags for MY FE gift, right? What about all the others? :lmao: Was listening to Paul's Boutique today and thought of you...

...but I got number 1700.

;)

You go girl!!! :cool1:

I think it's easier to buy detergent on the ship. It's $2 per load each machine. I think you can sign for it, but we always bring cash. Just be sure to tell them when you call that you need a bill/ticket for the food so you can tip!

I'm still here...in fact I think I will probably be the last to leave home for this trip:mad: My flight does not leave until 5pm on Friday getting us into Orlando at 8pm. Not much time to do anything but get a good night's sleep before a huge day on Saturday! Can't wait!!
Laundry is $2 each for wash and dryer..use your KTTW...I'm bring my own detergent..just a couple of samples I got in the mail...perfect!
I was not aware about that tipping option for room service...I am bring small bills but good to know just in case I run out!
For all those who are leaving tomorrow, have a great trip down and looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!:yay:

Sorry....one more!!

Lynn.....I almost forgot. I called DCL today to put in a dining rotation request and check on upgrades.....and the gal I spoke to said that there are NO upgrades available....there's no where for us to go from an Oceanview Room. (?????) Is she trying to tell me that the ship is now sold out? I show Concierge as still avail online....can you not upgrade to those on the phone?

Weird. I'll still be trying at the port! Wish you and I could meet up so that I could follow right behind you and take your verandah- we REEEALLLY want one! I'm really hoping not to see the "Mickey's sailing with a full ship" sign.

I called tonight and yes....I got the same response.....that the ship is 97% full.
The suite is back at 10,000 so i will check one last time at port.....what she was offering me was an extra room which was a port hole room for an extra $900.
Nope nope nope.

SO we will save the money and take another cruise another time.

We will be arriving very early to port i hope to be the first ones in line or close to it.
So we can check on that room....
But if you plan on being there early.....we will be in a light blue mini van, probally waiting at the gate before it ever opens ...... Then if you dont see us there.............We will all be in LIGHT BLUE shirts with
"Magically Celebrating Joes 18th Birthday" written on them

I hope to be there early, too! How does that work? What is the earliest we can drop off our luggage? 10 am? I'm trying to get an early boarding number because we need to switch our dining time. DH is dropping me and the kids off and he is going to go back to the hotel to leave the car and will ride the shuttle over. I will need to drop off the luggage and then go in the terminal, and I don't want to get there so early that they won't let our car in. Also, can I check my DH in if he isn't there with me yet?

I think what you may want to do....although i have never tried it.....
Is drop off your luggage...have DH park, and come in with you check in and get your # then have him take the car back.

When we were in california, i tried to do what you are wanting to do and got let down cuz i had to wait for DH to get back on a shuttle as he was dropping off a rental car........we got one of the very last #s to be called becasue of this.......

should be start a pool on who will be the first in line, So far I think we have Lynn, Giddyrhino and Kayleebug anyone else looking to take the title of first in line?

Good luck to all of you and my family will wander in around 12:30ish and hope that we will have arrived after the mad sash and breeze right on in. ;)

I am also bringing the 3i n 1s, hoping to not have to do laundry on this ship (no guarantees with a 2 year old though) but since we rented a house in Orlando for the following week the laundry demons will eventually catch up to me.

Im not personally going to Universal but SIL, BIL and niece are going for Harry Potter while the rest of us take a day off from the parks.

I only have about seven seconds to spend on here, because I am leaving home in 30 hours and I have a zillion things to finish. I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much to everyone who posted and sent messages about my grandma. She is stable now, enough for me to be able to take this trip without being a wreck the entire time. She'll be in my thoughts and heart, and I will still be able to have a blast with all these awesome peeps!

I'll see some of you on Thursday night for dinner at FishLips, where I will be taking video of Kelli dancing on a table. And the rest...I'll be leaving a little something for you Saturday night after our early dinner. Can't wait to see you! :flower3:

Glad to hear your Grandma is now stable and you had a safe trip to see her.

Travel safe everyone going tomoro and will c u all on Saturday.

That is a good idea. I wonder if he could park and come in without having to pay for parking for 1 day.

Does anyone know how much it might be for a cab from the CI&S to the port? Maybe we could go that route instead as well.

Yay!! Tomorrow's our big day!!! And saw our "home away from home" on the Today Show this morning! Finishing up a last few things today and will be ready to leave tomorrow!!

AND I sent everyone a final FE & Meet list yesterday just in case. I will have some scavenger hunts (onboard ones) and meet lists at the 3:00 Saturday meet in the Promenade. PLEASE remember that if you are on the FE list and change cabins at the port to come to that meeting at least long enough to give us the new cabin #!

Thanks and SAFE travels everyone!! :grouphug:

I thought you could check everyone in, as long as you had their passports? I remember a prior thread about it. A few people had problems, but most were able to check everyone in and when the rest of their party showed up they got their pictures taken. However I would follow Lynn's advice, it's not worth waiting in line and then being told to wait back in line with your whole party. We were going to do that but decided it wasn't worth the risk. I was going to check in at 10am and have DH and DD come around 12 so they didn't need to wait in the terminal but scratched that just in case.

Oh Lynn, I hope you get that last suite!!! I'll be crossing my fingers for you!!! Wow, I can't believe most of the boat is full!!!

Alexis, I am so happy to hear about your grandma. And happy to hear you will be able to go on vacation without worry.

Thank you Kellie for all your hard work keeping up with everyone and their rooms, etc! We really appreciate all the work you did to make this trip special!!!

Way excited! All packed (except for very last min things). We packed last night in anticipation of the weather. I have a good friend who works for the Weather Channel and got his advice on how bad NJ would be effected. He said only 3-5" which is still what the media is saying. I've been calling Continental to try to change our flights to today just to be on the safe side but they are giving us a crazy fee to change. Finally we decide to keep our flight and if it is cancelled (Newark is AWFUL!!!! I hope you all NEVER have to deal with EWR!!!), we will rent a car and drive to VA or somewhere they can put us on a flight to FL as soon as possible. It would be too late to drive down. Of course as I am checking us into our flight, they offer me to switch flights online for free (let's just say I turned into hormonal prego woman...) and of course all the flights for today only had single seats available (and I can't leave DD (2, almost 3) alone...actually that might be interesting....). Literally it was 4 minutes from the last time I checked with Continental (I had the browser still open). But we should be OK. I hope our neighbors are OK with us snowblowing our driveway at 6am tomorrow...sorry!!!

Safe travels everyone!!!
