Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

I was torn about this on our last cruise too. The kids were 6 & 8 at the time, and I think it worked out well. If they were hungry we could get them a snack late afternoon or before we headed to the evening show, so the late dinner didn't seem to bother them too much. I loved the dine and play option since it gave us some adult time after they headed to the clubs. It didn't bother me if they had to sleep in a little bit the next day since we weren't on such a strict schedule. Being able to see the show early is good too - before the kids get too tired to be fussy. So, we willingly signed up for late dining this time around.

Thanks so much!! That makes me feel so much better about keeping it the way it is. I'll have a 7,8 and 4 yr old...they're all pretty flexible and used to traveling and unusual schedules.
Did you find you had to give the kids a nap during the day and what time would you normally finish dinner?
Oh, and what did you do for pirate night? Was it a problem getting a good spot for the kids to see with the late seating?
thanks again!!

My kids are pretty flexible with travelling, too (they have to be if Mommy wants to see Wishes or Illuminations, lol). It is extremely rare for me to be able to get the kids to lay down in the middle of the day, so no naps for them. My husband is another story - no problem napping for him.:rotfl: I guess we finished dinner sometime between 9:30 and 10:00 and then most nights we picked the kids up and went back to the room. This year I want to do some adult stuff though, since we have friends with us.

Pirate night the deck was very crowded, but Jason and I got a spot on deck 10 overlooking the pool area from the middle (if that makes sense). We may not have gotten up there right away after picking up the kids, though because Jake gave us a hard time about going to the party and Doug took him back to the room. And then I stopped to take pics of the buffet too, so that took a few minutes extra. We had a good view of the party and the fireworks, it was just a little packed where we were. After the show the crowd thinned out a bit and we were able to get some seats on Deck 9 to watch the POC movie (one of my personal favs) until I decided it was time to take Jason back to the room. So, as long as you can get the kids quickly and make your way up to the party, I think you will be okay.

Ok, ladies and gentlemen... I have an odd question for you...

Do we take towels off the ship for water excursions? For example, Nachi Cocom.. do they supply towels or do I need to bring from the ship? Do I need to bring them from home? Sorry for the ignorance but I am lost! :confused3

I don't know if Nachi Cocom provides towels, but I wouldn't bring them from home - they'll take up too much room in your suitcase. Just go get some from the pool area before you leave the ship. If I remember correctly, they will be set up with towels on the pier when you come off the ship at Castaway Cay, but I don't think they did that in Nassau, so they may not do that at all the ports.

Hello Fellow Cruisers!

It's almost time for us "newbies" to book our excursions and Palo reservations! YEAH! I guess most of the Palo reservations will be booked - but I'm hoping for the best!

Do most folks really stay up until midnight to book their reservations?

We are still interested in participating in the FE! Anyone know how we can sign up? Thank you for all of your help!

Can't wait for this cruise!

From what I understand, I can book at 10:00pm the night before because of my time zone which is technically midnight for you Easterners. And with the time change it will be like the old 9:00 pm. SO... I should be able to sleep nicely... not that I will sleep after I book because I will be too excited...lol.

Just IM Kelli (Tinkerkell123) she is handling the FE's and I believe cut off is the 24th of Nov?

Getting ready to book excusions and Palo sure makes it seem closer! It is so exciting!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hi!

If there is something popular you want to book (like Palo, or certain excursions), I'd stay up to make sure you get what you want. (But I am a compulsive Disney planner). :lmao:

As for the FE, Kelli (tinkerkell123) is organizing the FE for our group. Send her a PM to let her know you are interested in joining. If you need more info on it, check out post #37 on page 3.

Good luck with your booking!

Julianne

Thanks, Lokkabear!

I agree, we have great timing in booking excursions - we will have just "fallen back"!! I'm ready for the time change, and the kids are, too!

Kelli did PM me - I tried to respond, but I don't have enough posts. :rolleyes1

Sooooo if you see quite a few posts from me tonight - you'll know why! :lmao:

This Disney Cruise planning is addictive - in a GOOD way!

Thank you SSR Lover!

We are thinking about a Palo dinner - not sure if we will get one. Hubby and I have also talked about having a massage on CC. Sounds fabulous, but hate to miss all of the fun with the kiddos.

Kelli did PM me - but I need to get a few more posts to respond.

I did pick up some cute Pirate items today - 50% off!! Woo Hoo!

These boards are GREAT! I feel like part of the group already! :goodvibes

Hi Friends!

Hope everyone is having a GREAT evening!

I'm trying to get up to 10 posts!

Thank you for your patience!

Okay, I was excited before, but now I'm just beside myself. We made our final payment on Tuesday, we can start booking stuff on Monday, and I'm going to start packing this weekend. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but I'm not going to be wearing my summer clothes again until the trip, so they might as well be packed instead of taking up room in my closet. :)

I have a question to ask those of you who have been on the Magic before. I'm not sure if you'll have the answer, but I'll never know if I don't ask right? My husband is a BIG hockey fan, and we're sailing during hockey season. Does the sports bar show hockey games, or have the ability to show hockey games? I've been told there are only two games we might potentially miss, and that it's not a big deal, but I wanted to find out if there was at least an option for him to watch should he want to.

Down to 78 days!!!

YAY! It is exciting making that final payment isn't it?!

I am doing the same things with our summer clothes. It is cooling off here now so no real need for them. We actually had some nice weather this past week. +16°C!!! (60ish °F):cool1:

I do not know the answer to the hockey question as this is my first cruise but I can bet money if there is, that is where my DH will be...lol. Hope it isn't the night I am planning Palo!

oh Chrisse hope all this Disney chatter helps the migraine go away! I found a pirate costume for DS this week since they were practically giving them away. Haven't had a chance to try it on him yet as i made the mistake of also buying a scooby doo costume at the same time and that all he cares about now. He doesn't even know who scooby doo is just loved the costume. :thumbsup2

Noticed today the dollar is at par so hopefully that keeps up:yay:

We can make our reservations on Monday! :goodvibes I am guessing you can start making them at midnight. Does anyone know what time zone they use to determine when midnight is? I am guessing Eastern but am not sure.
