Jan 2011 packages, best guess options

I have booked my 2011 vacation under the marathon package. Rates aren't too bad, but the package will not allow me to add the DDP.

The last 2 years Disney has offered some type of buy 4, get 3 or buy 5, get 2 deal...BUT i keep hearing that is not likely for 2011.

We booked the marathon package with full intentions of jumping to another package when/if it becomes available.

My question is:
1-Are you usually able to add the DDP to the marathon package later in the year
2-Does anyone have any guesses what packages may be offered in Jan 2011?

we are booking for feb 2011, so I am interested. but I have researched passed offers and have found that there is almost always a package deal offered for 1/1-2/11 around late September. So I will be keeping my fingers crossed with ya on this one.....

I am brand new to the disney boards. We are traveling to Disney World in January 2011 (end of the month) and wondered what your opinion was if you think booking a deal through disney is cheaper or going your own route -- i.e. buying points from DVC owners, purchasing tickets through a ticket discounter, etc...trying to get the best deal. We've been to disney 4 times and I've done a variety of routes - purchased through small world vacations, purchased through disney, and bought points through DVC member. We have 4 adults and 2 children in the party. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Not to be a debbie downer, but I was originally looking at the marathon rates for this past year, when I was sent a 40/30/20 code, it specifically blacked out marathon weekend (and MLK weekend). We ended up deciding not to go since DH and DS weren't sure if they'd have the time to train. If I'm going to pay almost full rates, I would rather do it at a warmer time of year.

I'm not sure how other codes worked, but nothing seemed to make it worth going that time of year, unless someone was planning to run in the marathon.
