Jan 2010 Code Watch

I'm so glad i'm not the only one dying of impatience while waiting for the Jan codes :surfweb:
Here's hoping they break the trend and release them early :rolleyes1

I'm here to wait (impatiently) for another 3-4 weeks for a good deal to be announced. I don't really want Free Dining OR 4/3...just a good pin. We're going the 26th-31st for our 10th Anniversary. This is prior to a cruise (booked this independently as it is turning out to be a very different trip-3 resorts in 6 days) so we'd love to save a few $$ on the land portion. :)

We are in the same situation. We are waiting for a good room discount code to come out. We are only staying for 6 days this time :guilty:...using up my AP which will expire the day we leave. Sooo, hoping for a good AP code that is better than the AAA I have booked.

My 90 +10 is October 7.

I can't wait past then to book my ADRs, or I will miss CRT:scared1: and my DD will never recover :rotfl2:

Has anyone ever booked a room (any room) to get the 90 + 10 privilege for ADRs then changed rooms when the codes came out?

Been subscribed to this thread for several weeks now. Was hoping something would have trickled down the grapevine by now. I would be thrilled with FREE dining. I love not having to budget for food.... especially if it's just me and DD. I'm also an APholder so an AP code would be great also. Both would send me....:yay:. I won't be holding my breath but I will have my fingers crossed! ;) Just gonna sit back and see what happens.... :surfweb:

With just 2 of you staying at WL I would think AP would beat free dining most of the time.

I would book a room you would feel comfortable paying for then when a deal comes up you can choose to upgrade.

I always go for my birthday in May and haven't really decided where to stay yet but I'll be able to book 180 ADR's on 11/2. I think I'll book a room at Pop(which I do like and may stay there) and then if a deal comes out for May I can upgrade I would love to go to the Poly but am not sure if I want to pay for that. I was also considering CSR or CBR as I've never stayed there or maybe BWI-close to Epcot for Flower Fest. I just can't make up my mind yet but am pretty certain of the dates.

What is the 90+10? Does this mean you can book 100 days out if you already have a ressie?

90 days before the day you check in you can make your dining reservations. If you're staying in a Disney resort, you can make them for the day you check in, plus the next 10 days. If you were staying off property you'd have to call back at 90 days out, 89 days out, etc. to make reservations for each day. Hope that makes sense!

So in order to make all your dining ressies at once, you would have to have a DEFINITE room reservation right?

Okay, didn't know that...we are planning on staying on property for sure but we're waiting for a code before we book.

Should we book with a TA to make sure we get all our dining ressies, and just change our reservation when/if a code comes out?

Thanks!

http://blog.touringplans.com/2009/09/22/yet-another-discount-rumor/

"We could be utterly wrong about this. However, we’re hearing there may be a new discount announced next week.

Disney has a history of announcing new discounts during the last week of September, for travel dates in mid-October through December 23-ish. And October 1 is the start of Disney’s new fiscal year. If a new discount is announced, the big question is whether it’ll cover 2010 dates, which corresponds to Disney’s second quarter. (Their first quarter is October through December, and they’ve already got an extra week in December to boost those numbers.)

Update: We’ve heard today from internal sources that a “deal wheel” was distributed to Disney’s phone agents around lunchtime. The wheel is a paper device (like a color wheel) agents use to determine the cost and savings of the latest offer. The last time a “deal wheel” was distributed was the “Buy 4-Get-7″ offer. "

Ok, just to be sure: we are planning on staying 9 nights. If buy 4 get 7 *is* offered, does that mean I'll pay for 6 and get 3 free? Also, we are passholders. Is the 4/7 only for packages with tix or can I get it for room-only plus dining?

I believe the 4/3 deal last year was you paid for 4 days/tix & got 3 free. We had to pay entire shot for dining. We took advantage of it but only stayed 6 days & really didn't get the full deal we could have but we had limited number of days to go. We did book a package & I'm not sure about annual passholders.

Last year you had to purchase at least one day tickets to book the deal.

You could book 7 nights as a package and then perhaps 2 nights with an AP discount.

Good point about using AP discount for 2 nights! I priced it out (based on November rack/AP rates) and it is a better deal! I guess I'd have to do kid of a split stay at the same resort, one 4/3 and one for the extra 2. I wouldn't mind moving to a different resort but dh says with 2 kiddos he's staying put :)

Edit to add: nevermind :( When I priced it the first time I did 3 nights instead of 4. When paying 4 nights rack rate + 2 nights AP rate the total ends up basically the same. That includes the base MYW tix. I can use them toward AP renewals in the future, but still $ out of my pocket now. Oh well, fun while it lasted!
