Jan 2009 Code Watch

Wow. They might not let us make a change? What about if we cancelled the one in our name and booked it in another adult's name that is traveling with us? I could easily make the reservation in my mom's name because she is funding the trip anyway. :confused3 Or is that being dishonest? Okay...I won't worry about that possibility! I can't imagine that would be the only deal they are offering...we'll wait and see before we lose it. Deep breath. Deep breath. :lmao:

OK, I just got off the phone with my AAA TA. She called Disney last night, and here is what she knows.

They confirmed there is something being released at 5 PM EST (4 PM my time) today. they confirmed it is big. But they won't give her any details. :headache:

She also put a hold on a new reservation for me, in case they don't allow us to just switch it, but insists that we cancel and rebook. :thumbsup2

Just one thing she said that scares me a teensy little bit - she said she doesn't know, but there might be a slim possibility that they will not allow EITHER of those options, and only allow this deal on brand new reservations...? I told her there would be a LOT of irate DISers if they did that! :rotfl:

My TA is so wonderful - she's already going to be gone for the day, getting ready to leave for Disney, but she is going to call me FROM HOME this afternoon and make my changes FROM HOME for me!!!! Isn't that wonderful?:flower3:

I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!!

I know this is going to sound PARANOID (aren't we all at this point) but what your TA hinted at is scarily consistent with what we're hearing...i.e., it's not a code, but a "deal"...plus the fact that they're going to be doing TV/radio advertising...although I still don't see how they could block people from cancelling and rebooking as though they were brand new! :headache:

I'm not letting myself panic. It's not that she THINKS they will say that, but she "doesn't know". She said the discounts are usually much smaller, so they usually don't care about changing reservations, etc. But since this one is so big, she just doesn't know if they will be sticklers about it.

You're right...I'm not going to panic...where's my oxygen tank?? :rotfl:

So you won't be able to add it on top of AAA's room rate? Guess there is no incentive to use AAA travel agent then if I can get the same rate myself directly. My AAA agent isn't going to be happy about that.

FYI-You do not need to use a AAA travel agent to book a AAA room rate. You can do it yourself by calling WDW reservations, asking for available AAA rates and providing your AAA membership number at the time of booking.

Well I went to the Disney site and got price quotes for 7 days versus 4 days. Figured out the difference, took off my AAA discount, and added on the $200 gift card.

If I figured everything out right, I should save $443.22!

I really hope I figured it out right! That would be AWESOME!!!
I don't know how you got that. I did the same thing and for 2 people without AAA it's only going to save us 112.00 plus about 20.00 for the ticket. Remember no one has said this is for free dining for those days. I'm not saying you did that I'm just wondering....Maybe you are staying at a mod or deluxe? That could be it, we are staying a value.

Yes I know but I already booked through AAA TA. I'll be cancelling it through the TA. So sorry about that but I don't like waiting to make changes and see if this or that applies and with TA you have to wait without any benefit. Or at least I do.

we have three people (DS will be 12), no AAA rate, and no dining. I actually did it both ways, with dining and without. This quote was without dining. I'm staying at a value too. Maybe adding another person on is enough to make it that big of a difference?

On that theory....if we can't apply the "deal" to a current reservation...if availability is at the hotel of your choice for the same dates...and you rebook a new one....that would only open up the old reservation and put that room back into the system. So what good would that be for Disney for not allowing that? I guess a good number of people don't know about offers...or maybe figure they are already booked and don't want to change their existing...and Disney is figuring they won't change or rebook reservations anyway....who knows!

I would think alot of people would be more flexible with their rooms selection if the deal was going to save them alot of money.

I guess time will only tell.....the clock is moving very very slow!

OMG! I am sooooo excited, I can't concentrate on work. Or anything else, for that matter!

We're going from January 20-31, and were planning to stay off site. But, if this is as good a deal as it sounds, we'll be staying at a Disney resort for at least 7 days! DH is even on board for this, which, in itself, is amazing! I cannot wait until 5:00 p.m! I'll keep watching this thread and Mousesavers.

Good luck, everyone!

So what is everyone's plan? Do you plan to call at 5pm or wait to see something posted about the deal/code/discount?

I plan to hit the disney website... like I did this morning at 7 am EST... only to find that nothing had been posted, yet. This is getting frustrating.

I plan on looking at Mousesavers, and the website. I'll call if it's a good deal, but if it is this deal and it starts on the 4th. I'll go take a nap, and wondering if they'll offer something later in the year (March, April) for those of us that can't use that deal.

Oh man, that would stink if it doesn't apply to people with reservations already! :( I have to wonder though, because when a member of our grand gathering called about a month ago to take the DDP off of her reservation because they couldn't afford it, the CM told her to call back in a few weeks because there were some "big savings coming out to help families afford a vacation." Why would she have told her that, KNOWING she already has a reservation, if there was nothing that would apply to people with them already?

They may not have had full details at the time. It shouldn't be too hard if you have to make a new reservation. They've probably already marked off some rooms for this promotion. I'd just make a new reservation and cancel my old one, if they say only new reservations. They can't tell you you can't book a new one.

I so hope you are right! :goodvibes

If you have to cancel and book a new one, do you have to do that with 2 seperate calls? Or can you call, cancel, and book a new one all at once?
