Yes, last year was just upgraded park tickets, usually there is a special promotion for Januray - mid Feb. I always book package with AAA and when special comes out I call my AAA agent and she applies the discount to my package. I always check Mousesavers.com to watch for new codes so I can call right away because I think the rooms are limited.

Nala56: when you call your AAA agent & she applies the new code to your package, doyou lose the AAA discount? Or if you get a AAA discount on the room portion & a code comes out for hoppers, do you get both deals?

I don't think I lose AAA discount. When I book a package, for example 2 years ago at WL for 7 nights, air from Pittsburgh, length of stay tickets and AAA perks my orginial package was about $2900.00. When general codes came I call my agent, she changed the price and sent me a new invoice and the price came down around $400.00. Last year the discount was only upgraded park tickets for general public, so didn't save as much but did the same thing. I called agent she changed the tickets for price went down a little.

This year I'm having trouble booking package, the prices are higher and there are no standard rooms at WL or AKL. I thinking of doing everything myself but haven't decided yet, still working with my AAA agent.

Just starting to read this thread, so sorry if this has been addressed...but is there any speculation as to WHAT sort of deal (if any) will be released for Jan 2007? Not the AP rates, but just general public codes? I know last year the deal offered a little off the room and free water/hopper on tickets. Was that the first time that has ever been done? It was OK, but I'd prefer something else this year.

Any speculation? Guesses? Thought?

I finally broke down and booked for our Jan. trip 1/5-1/19 (had been waiting for AP rates but I was starting to get antsy). AAA rate for POFQ including tax is approx. $130/night. The CM explained that if/when any codes are released, I am to call back and ask to modify the reservation - I won't need to cancel/rebook. So now let's hope for some codes to come out

I'm from Canada, and I also think that we have to choose between the AAA discounts or the codes.....

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I have been going in January for the past 7 years, this is the first year I'm having trouble booking a package. There are no standard rooms for last week in January at WL or AKL, we always book standard but I guess this year if we want to go will have to pay a little more. My AAA agent is shocked she is unable to find a standard room anywhere.

I have a theory, just guessing...... but I think disney used to over book standard rooms, which is why some people got upgrades at check in. I think they have realized they maybe losing money by doing this so once standard rooms are gone, you must choose a higher price room. It only make sense but it sure has been challenging to find a good package.

I've read where a lot of people called when recent general codes came out and were unable to get discount because the block of discounted rooms were already taken.

Usually stuff like this doesn't affect the crowds...just the hotel rooms. They have seminars in the day and planned activities at night.

I am, of course, telling myself this to make me feel better Inside, I am FREAKING OUT

We have AAA rate of $116 for POR Jan. 1-7. Does anyone think that this will be the best rate? Does anyone remeber what a moderate went for during that time with a general code discount?

I chose the last week in January b/c that was the only week where I thought nothing was going on. The first week is the marathon. The second is a dance/cheerleading competition. What are they doing to me?

Should I change my reservations until February?? Does anyone know if anything is going on then??

We always go this week because earlier in the month is the marathon, competitions, Mlk weekend and this week was normally not too crowded, but now???? I haven't booked yet, so guess could change but that's my week!!!

It's not just the last week. I tried to get a WL standard w/o
a discount for the 17th-23rd of Jan. and no standard rooms available. My theory is they just aren't releasing them and hoping people will book woods view if they can't get standard.

What are the exact dates how will this effect the crowds?????? Should I change my dates?
We are booked for Jan.28th-Feb.3rd Crowd level is a BIG factor for us

When I called to book for the end of Jan/early Feb at CSR, they told me all the standard rooms were booked...like nearly 2000...for slow season! So maybe the "media" event is going on there?

I'd like to know exactly when/where this event is.
