I've asked this before a couple of times but still no answer
I am new to codes----I have a couple of questions
DH and I booked a package--Hotel,tickets and dining...Can we still use a code if it comes out??
Can we use a room discount to bring down our room price?
Will we be eligible for a buy one night get one free type deal if we have the package?
Anyone out there correct me if I am giving the wrong information...
I understand that if you have a package booked (at full price or otherwise), and a "code" (promotion) comes out, you (or your
travel agent) can switch to the promotional package, as long as the promotion would be available for the resort, etc. for which you are booked. For example, I think that sometimes there is limited availability for certain types of promotions (i.e. if there is a discount for Annual Passholders on resort rooms, or even a general public discount on resort rooms, there may only a limited number of rooms available at the discounted rate at each resort. That's why some posters are writing about the "telephones lines being busy" and everyone on this thread wanting to know right away when a "code" comes out - so that we can all get in on it, because lots of people would be calling at one time to get the discount). For other types of promotions (such as the
free dining which was offered earlier in the year for package stays occurring this fall), I believe the availability of the promotion is unlimited, as long you switch over your package within the time deadlines.
The reason everyone is using the term "code" is because when you book or (in your case) switch your package, you would have to make sure that you (or your travel agent) gives Disney the "code" for whatever promotion is available.
Maybe you already knew this, but even if no "code" or promotion comes out, you can still book a package with
AAA and get a AAA discount on the room rate (20% off value and moderate resorts; 15% off deluxe resorts during value season). I think you have to book with AAA directly to get this room discount, if you are getting a package (tickets, dining, etc,). If you are only getting the room (no package), then you can get the AAA rate with any
travel agency (if you are a AAA member). Again, if a promotion comes out at any point before your trip which is valid for the time of your stay, you should be able to just switch to the promotional package.
In response to your last question, I don't think WDW has offered a buy one/get one free resort deal, but I could be completely wrong!
Again, someone out there correct me if this information is not correct
