Jan. 14-23, '05 - any special events???

We are planning to go to WDW Jan. 14-23 of 2005. I was looking for a hotel in the Downtown Disney area for the first 2 nights of our stay and a lot of them were coming up that there weren't any rooms available. What events will be going on during that time???

I know there is a marathon every January so maybe that's it.

The Marathon is Jan 9, 2005. The only other thing I am aware of during that time is Martin Luther King Holiday which is Jan 17th. The weekend before this is usually packed - so that will be 1/14 to 1/17.

Sometimes the dance and cheerleading competitions can start as early as January at WDW-- they tend to continue through March. I've been twice during these timeframes and didn't find it to be a problem.

Are you using online booking? Maybe the hotels don't have their 2005 dates in the computer yet, especially discounted prices for rooms. Have you tried calling?
