Jan 13, 2013 on the Dream!

Jeff, I was very surprised to see those cabanas still available for us 90-day folks this morning. Not something we want or need, but nice that they weren't all gone for those who might be interested.

We got one 2 trips ago when my MIL came with us. She was in a wheelchair and required oxygen on occasion. It was great to have as she could plug her machine in, get out of the sun and watch the kids on the beach.

Now we are suffering from having done it once and being spoiled.
Last trip, I reserved one and was trying to get a family concensus on either the Atlantis or a cabana, but not both (too expensive) and I'd cancel one. My wife saw the reservation before a decision was made and got very excited, and I really like the Atlantis. So everyone got a cabana for Christmas.

We are 90days out so we can start booking things. :cool1:

The last couple of trips it seemed like a lot of stuff was sold out the first time I loged in, so I decided to reserve what we wanted right away.
This time it looks like most things are still available as there was only a few things sold out. FYI, here's a list of a few things that I noticed.
  • The golf/sports simulators are booked every day, except the first where there is just a couple of openings.
  • Remy and Palo still have plenty of openings, including brunch. We had trouble getting brunch reservations the last 2 trips.
  • There are only 2 cabanas left on Castaway Cay, all other things are open. Even at $500 these sell out amazingly fast, wonder how Disney will squeeze more in.
  • The following excursions in Nassau are listed as sold out: Nassau Harbor Cruise, Seaworld Explorer Semi-Sub, See and Sea Island tour.
All times are open for setting your port arrival time. The early arrival times normally go first but it is still early for that to happen.
Jeff.
I really wish that I had not read this. I booked a cabana, and my husband is going to read me the riot act! Booked Palo brunch and dinner too. Hmmmmm. How can I justify this? Maybe, "guess what, honey? I booked remy dinner and lunch, and palo dinner and brunch!" (Await ensuing grumbling about high priced meals when MDR meals are included). Reflective pause. Then, "well, how about a cabana instead, and just keep palo?" To be updated, wish me luck!

I would love to book the Palo brunch, but being a first time cruiser, we have to wait until the 30th. :( Sure hope we can book one then. What 's the chances of getting a res when we get onboard?

I just checked again and Palo brunch still has plenty of openings. Remy appears to be filling up as there is only a few slots available. The addition of the Remy brunch must be making Palo more accessible. Fingers crossed you get in.

I did the same, with a cabana and Palo brunch and dinner.
My saving grace is my bar bill should be less than my wife's spa trip and shopping spree. ;)

Thought I'd send a little update about what's going on over on the FB page ;)

Greetings - we just got off the Fantasy (yes the Sandy sailing - Oct 20-27th) and booked the cruise onboard. Looking forward to all the sharing on Disboards. When will be the cut-off for the FE list? Just considering it at the moment. Thanks, Happy Little Friday!

That's a great question about a cut-off date for the FE list. Any suggestions from folks who have participated in one before?

chiyo0896, I'm glad you and your family made it back safely to shore! That last day/night must have been an experience you will never forget.

Reading some of the stories about your cruise reminded me of a few at-sea experiences I had while in the Navy. Mother Nature can make a person feel pretty insignificant at times...

I did a search on FE cut-off dates and it seems a customary cut-off date for our January 13th cruise should probably be around the beginning of December

Anyone else have any suggestions? :)

So very true. It was only one night that created concern and there were 6 nights of fun before that - so Im happy and thankful! It certainly is an experience I will remember!

Would someone add me to the FB group? My FB id is "Carrie Marie". Thanks, I sent a request earlier today.

:goodvibes

Thanks for the FE exchange deadline suggestions. Normally I would be all for a cutoff 4 weeks before our cruise (~ Dec. 15), but I wonder if Dec. 1 makes more sense, only because Christmas season can be a pretty hectic time. does Dec. 1 sound ok to everyone?

I think Dec 1 is a good cut off...its only 2 weeks less and like you said...with it being so close to Christmas, I think it'll be fine :)
