Jan '08 Marathon planning question (ie ADR's)?

I too am a grazer and will eat granola bars and Quaker Oats oatmeal bars the day before the races. I am staying at Pop and will most likely attend a meet if it is there.

Dave--how is it that you haven't tried two of my favs??? Ohana is an all you care to eat served family style, polynesian type food. It's in the poly. Breakfast is a character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch, and dinner is just plain yummy. Could eat my weight in those chicken wings and bananas foster bread pudding! Yummo! Boma is at AKL and is buffet style-no characters at breakfast, but food is super yummy, only place I've ever seen quinoa at a breakfast buffet--dinner is yummo too--got some african flair there.

Yikes, I thought I knew all the short forms. What or where is IIRC??

We are up for the meets, we will arrive Thurs morning but leaveing around dinner time on Sunday.

My guess is "if I recall correctly." I need to have my oldest daughter check with her text messaging friends to be sure. Notwithstanding great and ever increasing pressure, I still have not gotten her her own cell phone with text messaging yet.

Since we've registered for the half and the full marathon, and since we plan on going sans kids...

we're going to go with the DDP and take advantage of some fine dining - I think...

My question concerns food choices... dh likes to have heavier carbs and easy on protiens (ie steak!) I'm such a beef person...

I'm curious where people eat the night before a WDW race? I'm not crazy about the menu at Tony's in MK, but they have speghetti... Mama Melrose at MGM has a penne pasta that sounds good... beyond that I was at a loss!

(my calculator has it at 205 days I think.. so plenty of time to plan!!)
We went to Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge the night before the full marathon last year. It was DD9's princess: b-day, and I ate up and she had a great time. Mashed potatoes are a great way to carbo load, and it held me for the race.

Mel - I think we may do Ohana's again after the Full. Last year we ran into you there, so let me know if you are planning that again. It's our favorite place to stock up on protein!!!

Stephanie - I too can eat my weight at Ohana's... and I weigh more than you so that's a lot of grub!!!!

I am not sure of when I will be arriving, but will plan to meet up on Friday night again if we do that. I think we are staying at POFQ (first time, so I hope I like it). I may be flying in at the last minute from San Diego. It's so not cool to have a convention that butts up to your first ever full marathon. I am a little stressed about it, thank goodness I will be in taper mode.

So many ideas!! We've never eaten at Yachtman's so I was thinking of doing this Thurs. Friday a mini meet sounds like fun! I have been going over menus for Mama Melrose and Tony's - neither thrill me... I wonder if the new Italian restaurant in Epcot will be open by then? LeCellier is our must do - and I think we'll try this after dh and the full marathon...

How's the Cape May Dinner? A buffet lends itself well for grazing - great advice... and dh pretty much does as others (ie not carbo load the whole science of 18hour digestion!)

I think we're at 195 days...

Jen - We'll be at POFQ too - first time as well.

Scream team etiquette question - I'm doing the half on Saturday, but definitely planning on being at the full on Sunday to support everyone. I've recently heard great things about Boma's breakfast and want to try it. (We always do dinner there and absolutely love it!) Will I be supportive enough if I eat breakfast first and then come over and cheer for everyone? I can't figure out which would be better - to cheer first and schedule a late ADR, or eat first and then cheer!
